Soon it will be the one year anniversary of our White Plains hoarding case which resulted in the rescue of 88 cats thanks to our Humane Law Enforcement Unit. We still have nearly two dozen of those kitties awaiting adoption 😢 While these gorgeous kitties are still fairly shy they have come such a long way and do wonderful with other cats. Please consider stopping in and potentially adopting one of these deserving felines ❤️

3-year-old Luna is such a gem of a dog and has sadly been overlooked by adopters for over a year 😢 She’s a big girl with an even bigger heart and while she loves to run around and play she also just loves to love ❤️ Stop in any day to meet our lovely lady, Luna!

Last Chance to Give in 2024! Please help animals like Roo ❤️

This poor kitty was rushed to the SPCA by a utility worker in Sleepy Hollow who found her freezing, alone and trying to survive in a ditch under a pipe.
Our veterinary team examined her immediately upon intake and discovered that neither of her front limbs ever fully developed. Roo is unable to use one leg entirely and can only use the forearm of the other like a little crutch. The good news is that she doesn’t appear to be in any pain as her condition is genetic. The sad news, however, is that Roo unlikely made her way to the location she was found on her own. It’s evident that she was purposely dumped and, being so vulnerable, would never have survived on her own. Our staff named this sweet girl Roo (short for kangaroo) since she hops and stands on her back legs, as seen in the video.
Roo doesn’t let anything slow her down and still has so much trust in people. She’s resilient and filled with hope thanks to supporters like you who make our work possible. Please consider a tax-deductible gift now through December 31st so that we can save even more cats and dogs like Roo in 2025. Please see the link in our bio to give ❤️

Arrow was so excited to pick out a toy for Christmas! This is his second holiday season at our Rescue Center so he can have as many toys as he wants ❤️ From all of us at the SPCA, including Arrow and all of his furry friends awaiting homes, wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah 🌲 🎅 🕎 🎁 🐾
We had a special visit yesterday from our friend @danielledellapellarealtor and her daughter who not only baked yummy holiday dog treats, they also brought Christmas goodie bags for our adoptable pups! While we wish every animal was spending the holidays in a home, it was so sweet watching everyone enjoy their presents 🎁 from their SPCA family. Merry Christmas Eve and let’s hope some of our dogs featured here will ring in the New Year in their new home!

As we countdown to Christmas our SPCA kitties wanted to join in the holiday fun! Please note, there are many other adoptable cats at our Rescue Center who were either camera shy or too busy napping 💤 to join the video. And just in case anyone is wondering, this is an app.-we didn’t actually put noses and antlers on anyone 😆

Radar is doing awesome with training-he’s totally ignoring the busy sounds and distractions in the parking lot and just chills while he wags his tail and focuses on a staff trainer 👏🏻 One of his fav volunteers says “Radar is an exuberant, wicked smart, and very affectionate boy. He’s a quick learner, walks well on a leash, and loves car rides, hikes, and any outdoor activity.” Radar and his adorable ears are currently for adoption ❤️

Love this video that one of our new fosters created about her first experience. “To foster is to love and let go so that you can save more” ❤️ We are in need of fosters for a variety of animals, from puppies and kittens who just need a safe place to land until they’re ready for adoption, to adult dogs and cats who need extra TLC and socialization to help prepare them for life in the real world. To learn more, please visit spcawestchester.org/programs-and-services/foster-care or the link in our bio!

🚨 Yonkers Man Captured on Video Beating a Puppy and a Dog Arrested by SPCA Westchester’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit
Please note, the volume has been muted on this video. (Briarcliff Manor, NY - November 20, 2024) SPCA Westchester announced today that their Humane Law Enforcement Unit (HLE), under the direction of Ernest Lungaro and with the assistance of Yonkers Police Officers Fagan and Sousa, arrested and charged Roger Andrews of Yonkers, NY with two counts of animal cruelty.
The SPCA’s HLE Director arrested Roger Andrews on November 18th after obtaining video that captured him severely beating a helpless male puppy named Champ and a female dog named Pretty Girl. The video, which is extremely disturbing, shows Champ being whipped mercilessly with a thick rope leash and screaming. Other footage obtained of Roger Andrews shows him kicking, punching and throwing Champ and Pretty Girl.
Neither dog is owned by Roger Andrews, who had them in his possession temporarily to walk them for their owners. “By some miracle, Champ and Pretty Girl did not sustain any serious injuries,” says Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are so thankful that these innocent animals were seized by our HLE Unit before it was too late.”
Roger Andrews was held overnight for an open warrant on an unrelated case and arraigned yesterday. If you witness or suspect an animal is being neglected or abused, please call the SPCA’s Confidential Cruelty Hotline at (914) 941-7797.
