🚨Injured kitty in need of surgery—please consider a donation ❤️ Last week, a severely injured cat was rescued after being abandoned in Yonkers. A kind woman reached out to the SPCA, desperate for help, as it was very apparent that this poor cat, now named Lorelei, has been suffering for months on her own. The number of abandoned cats in Westchester County continues to grow, leaving thousands of friendly felines like Lorelei on the streets to fend for themselves. When Lorelei arrived at the SPCA’s Rescue Center, our veterinary team immediately examined her, carefully tended to her abrasions and open wounds and are currently treating her with antibiotics for her painfully infected ears and bloody, swollen nose. The worst of Lorelei’s injuries is to her eye, which is causing her immense discomfort. Just like Lorelei needs our help, we now need yours. As you can see in the video above, her eye is sadly too far gone to save. Lorelei’s been through so much and it’s heartbreaking to know that she’s been suffering so long like this. Lorelei needs to undergo surgery as soon as possible and our SPCA team, as well as Lorelei, would be so grateful to anyone willing to contribute towards her care. Blown away by how smart this girl is! Meet Emory🎾❤️ This 4-year-old German shepherd is adored by many, but her two-legged best friend at the SPCA, Haylee, sums her up best: “Emory is incredibly smart, obviously! She’ll do just about any trick for a tennis ball, but don’t be fooled—she also loves her stuffed animals and tug-of-war! While she warms up to new friends at her own pace, she’ll let you know when she’s ready for some love—she’s a pro at setting boundaries! She’s a girl who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to tell you!” 😄 While Emory needs to be an only fur child and faces some health challenges (hip dysplasia and degenerative disc disease), they are all manageable with the right supplements. When Perry arrived at the SPCA as a local stray, we figured he’d get adopted within a few weeks. Now, 6 months later, this adorable corgi mix is still waiting to meet his forever family. He’s such a happy guy, always smiling and ready to play. Like many dogs, Perry doesn’t “show well” in his kennel, so most people aren’t willing to give him a chance. It’s heart breaking.
