At the SPCA we love hosting school groups, scouts, youth clubs etc. ❤️ These wonderful students from Scarsdale had a blast learning about animal care while meeting some of our adoptables and making enrichment treats and toys! We are so grateful for our young volunteers and advocates 🙌🏻

We’ve got a busy two days! This evening we’ll be with this beauty and a bunch of his adoptable furry friends who we’ve posted throughout the week at Captain Lawrence in Elmsford from 5 to 7! If you can’t make it to tonight’s adoption event, we’ll also be at Petsmart in Yonkers tomorrow from 11-1 with the adorable pups you can see if you scroll ➡️ And of course, we have LOTS of great dogs, cats, puppies and kittens at our Rescue Center in Briarcliff Manor, so you really can’t go wrong! What better time to adopt ❤️

🚨Injured kitty in need of surgery—please consider a donation ❤️ Last week, a severely injured cat was rescued after being abandoned in Yonkers. A kind woman reached out to the SPCA, desperate for help, as it was very apparent that this poor cat, now named Lorelei, has been suffering for months on her own. The number of abandoned cats in Westchester County continues to grow, leaving thousands of friendly felines like Lorelei on the streets to fend for themselves. When Lorelei arrived at the SPCA’s Rescue Center, our veterinary team immediately examined her, carefully tended to her abrasions and open wounds and are currently treating her with antibiotics for her painfully infected ears and bloody, swollen nose. The worst of Lorelei’s injuries is to her eye, which is causing her immense discomfort.

Just like Lorelei needs our help, we now need yours. As you can see in the video above, her eye is sadly too far gone to save. Lorelei’s been through so much and it’s heartbreaking to know that she’s been suffering so long like this. Lorelei needs to undergo surgery as soon as possible and our SPCA team, as well as Lorelei, would be so grateful to anyone willing to contribute towards her care. Please consider a gift today through our social media fundraiser or by clicking the link below support our Mend a Friend Fund so that Lorelei, and the many animals like her who depend on the SPCA for survival, can receive a second chance.

The countdown to Yappy Hour at this Friday continues with Heather! What breed is she you ask? She’s such a mix it’s anyone’s guess and we just love her floofy ears! Most importantly, she is such a sweet pup and loves to love ❤️ She will likely be large full grown and will do best with an active person or family. To meet/adopt Heather, please visit our mobile adoption vehicle at Captain Lawrence in Elmsford this Friday between 5-7pm!

This is Daisy, a 3-month-old outgoing, super happy and wiggly mix. She’s even cuter in person with her soft peach fuzz and big brown eyes. Meet Feta and her ridiculously adorable bunny ears 🐰 This silly, speckled cutie has been so patient as she watches all of her furry friends get adopted. Why is this great pup still here?! Feta appears to be a working breed mix so she just needs an active home. She’s a great mix of playful and cuddly ❤️ Stop in any day to meet Feta!

For some crazy reason, our sweet boy Brody had been overlooked quite a few times and yet he is one of the easiest and happiest dogs you could ask for! Regina, one of his bff’s at the SPCA decided to dress him up for Halloween so that he’d really capture people’s attention while greeting them from behind the front desk. We planned to post this pic to promote him for adoption today but are thrilled to report that he is now in his new home with his lovely new family ➡️ Happy Halloween everyone, especially Brody ❤️

Our Story

Shelter hours: Mon.-Sat. 10am-4pm and Sun. 1pm-4pm. SPCA Low Cost Clinic (914) 941-2896 x10. SPCA Animal Cops-HLE (914) 941-7797. An independent, not-for-profit organization, the SPCA of Westchester not only serves as the sole cruelty prevention and intervention agency for Westchester County, but is also the only organization providing the comprehensive services of a spay/neuter clinic, a shelter (with a capacity for over 100 dogs and 125 cats), adoption and community outreach programs. The SPCA is recognized as a “no-kill” shelter as it never euthanizes an animal except in cases of terminal illness, extreme aggression or the inability to maintain a reasonable quality of life in a shelter environment. Regardless of how long it may take, the SPCA is committed to caring for all adoptable animals until a loving, new home can be found. Its location, just 35 miles north of New York City, attracts a wide range of people from Westchester, Bronx, Putnam, Dutchess and Rockland counties in New York and parts of Connecticut and New Jersey as well. Many people who cannot afford to pay full-scale prices for veterinary care come from great distances to take advantage of the low—cost fees for services offered by our Simpson Clinic. It makes sharing life with a pet a reality for many people on fixed incomes.
