Nautilus celebrated Dr. Mosley's specialty exotic internship graduation this weekend. We celebrated with some of her former patients at Jenkinson Aquarium! We are so excited to announce that she is staying at Nautilus and will be continuing her work helping all of our avian and exotic patients. She is a great asset to our hospital and a wonderful and caring doctor. A big thank you to Jenkinson Aquarium for hosting our party.

Continuing education is critical to keep NAEVS techniques and procedures up to date and cutting edge!

Drs. Applegate and Mosley, along with some of our technical staff are attending ExoticsCon 2023 in Boston. ExoticsCon, including AAV (Association of Avian Veterinarians), AEMV (Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians), and ARAV (Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians) is the ultimate conference for the distribution of new and upcoming information in exotic animal medicine and surgery as well as a great way to connect with friends and colleagues!

Tank the tortoise from the Popcorn Park Zoo was kindly allowed to be a blood donor for a tortoise in need of a blood transfusion prior to a surgical procedure. Tank was sedated for the blood collection and recovered without complication! Thank you Tank for helping to save a life!

Sometimes we have to get a little creative to care for our small patients! After a large mass was surgically removed from this hamster, he wouldn't stop scratching at his incision. We didn't want him to hurt himself, so our team jumped into action and quickly came up with a solution. Introducing hammy jammies!

Dr. Applegate, Andrea (technician), and Nicole (technician) spoke with veterinarians and technicians from the greater New Jersey area to promote exotic animal health and veterinary care. The display booth was at the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association Conference (NJVMA) in East Brunswick, NJ this past weekend (4/21-22/2023). Some of our patients volunteered and were warmly welcomed as ambassadors for NAEVS: Zaina (African penguin) and Chance and Bino (ferrets).
