*MAGGIE & MOLLIE ARE A BONDED PAIR AND MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER*

Maggie and Mollie are 4 year old spayed female Chihuahuas who weigh about 5.5 lbs. Maggie and her sister, Mollie, are looking for a new home after their owner fell ill and could no longer care for them properly. It was a very sad situation for everyone, so we are grateful we were able to provide these girls the second chance they deserved. Maggie and Mollie have always lived together and are looking for a family to open their hearts and home to both. They have gotten along with other dogs and cats and wouldn’t mind sharing their new home with other pets. Maggie and Mollie would do best in a quieter home so they can settle in and feel safe. They are doing well with their training even though they were never exposed to the outdoors in their previous home. These girls are super sweet and love to be with their people. We have no doubt they will be loyal companions for the family willing to give them a chance. After everything they’ve endured, we have promised them unconditional love and kindness from here on out. Please help us find Maggie and Mollie the forever home they’ve been searching for!

11/24: our duo got over 1k shares but still no applications 😔. Please keep sharing to help them go viral and find their forever home

Bonded pair of senior Trina and Tracker haven’t had a single inquiry on them since we got them. Not one email, their posts barely get any shares 😔
We know it’s hard to place one senior let alone 2 together but they do everything together and are basically like having one dog. They are twin brother and sister, so if you walked them individually you could make your neighbors think you only have one dog 😝
They get excited at feeding time and do an elaborate excited dance, get excited to see you and do a happy dance, and the rest of the time they are usually snuggled together on whichever dog bed they think looks most comfortable. They have some arthritis, especially Trina who could barely walk on her back legs when we got her but with medication and supplements are doing so much better! Email [email protected] to meet Trina and Tracker in Northern NJ. They are 12 years old, under 15lbs, altered, updated on shots, had dentals, get along with other dogs, and are beyond ready for homes. Celebrate adopt a senior mix by adding them to your family!

Christy is a wonderful dog. She's been through so much negativity in her young life already. She was found as a stray and taken to a high kill shelter where it was discovered she was pregnant. She was so thin and malnourished that when she went to deliver the pups she had to have a c section and it was touch and go for her for a little while. After that, She was not able to nurse her babies so they had to be bottle fed. Sadly only two survived. But, they are doing great now. Christy is loving her new life where she is being loved and cared for. Someone thought it would be a good look to crop her ears and they did it themselves so it is not a good look for this beautiful girl. But if you can look past that you will see what an amazing girl she is.

Christy is extremely affectionate, she wants to cuddle as close as she possibly can to her people. She loves to be touched all the time and always wants to be near you. She does good on walks however, she can pull sometimes. She's a quick learner and corrects very easily when you need to correct her. She listens very well, comes when called and knows "sit". Christy is more food motivated than toy. She loves treats and bones to chew on. She's a medium sized dog and currently weighs about 37 Ibs, and is approx 2 years old. Christy is still working on gaining just a little more weight. Christy is a medium energy girl, she loves walks and gets the zoomies sometimes, but knows how to relax and be lazy when you need her to be. She's amazing in a kennel, she's not a barker and is doing really well with potty training, no accidents in a while. Good with other dogs that are respectful and good with cats. She LOVES her blanket

This gorgeous boy is Charlie. Come on down to Babylon Animal Shelter and meet him at his furry friends.
Photos by MFK

Charlie is an amazing boy. He was surrendered to us through a court process after he had been seized and the owner charged with state animal neglect charges. While that is still an ongoing court case, Charlie has been cleared to go up for adoption.
Charlie has been declared a dangerous dog in court twice due to owner irresponsibility that lead to him injuring dogs when he was not on leash. Charlie needs a new home outside of New York. Charlie will need a secure fenced yard where he doesn't get stimulated seeing dogs walking by his house and where he can't dig under or get over the fence. He will need self closing locked yard gates that will remain secure. Charlie needs to be retrained not to build even more upon a drive that he has already succeeded in, with bad behavior. Charlie has great manners, skills, and he even knows his basic commands. Charlie will make a wonderful companion, in the RIGHT home. Charlie is affectionate and loving. He thoroughly loves attention from the people who surround him. Charlie got a bad wrap because he was in the wrong hands and we really hope for him to spend his senior years and experience life in the right hands. We have all become very attached to this guy, and he deserves someone else to share in the joy that he brings us.

🚨 A MUST READ 🚨
Too much too soon WILL cause issues.
It is a really common occurrence with newly adopted dogs.

Congratulations on your new dog.
I know you want to take them to the beach, the pet store and your café....however can I ask for a few minutes so I can explain just what your dog has gone through.....and why you need to take the next few weeks SLOW.
Your new dog has had it's whole world turned upside down.
They don't know you.
They don't know if they can trust you.
They don't know if they are with you for an hour or forever.
They may have been in various scary places.
Other houses, rescues, the pound and likely ALL of these in the past few days or weeks.
Your dog has stress hormones surging through their brain, they are STRESSED....they need to decompress, they need STABILITY in their environment and from you.
They need time with you and their new environment.
They need to know that the tree outside may rustle against the house and that's OK.
They need to know that those normal creaky noises in your house are OK and that at 3.45 the neighbours bang their door shut.
They need to know when it rains that tapping sound is OK.
They need to know that when the door opens they won't be moved somewhere else again.
They need to trust that YOU are safe even when you have had a bad day, you will still give them food and that they can close their eyes around you.
You know what your good intentions are with your new dog, your dog however has NO idea what is happening.....only that everything has changed and it is scary.
They do NOT need other new environments yet. Take it SLOW.
Dogs that have just been adopted need TIME. There is no need to rush out the next day and take them to all the places you want to go with them.....They need the opposite.
Let them decompress, let them inspect a new area of your house or yard every day or two. Walk them up and down outside your house for a few days (and only there), let them sniff, and sniff some more. Let them p*e freely.....it may be boring for you, but not for your dog. They need to know what is happening around them and they learn that through their nose, eyes and ears.
They NEED this.
They need to learn to TRUST you.
The long walks can wait, the café will still be there in a few weeks and you can visit the pet shop alone until they are ready.
Your bond together is the MOST important thing to concentrate on right now.
You will never regret taking it slow and it can save your dog and yourself from making the very same mistakes that can lead to people rehoming in the first place.
All the very best with your new dog.

Update : adopted! 🎉🎉

Sweet senior Sue - still waiting for a family ❤

Sue came to the shelter recently when her owner passed away. It was a big change for this girl to have to leave only the home and family she knew and she whimpered all day at the shelter ☹ Sue was lucky enough to be placed in a Loveafoster home where she has been nothing short of perfect ❤ Sue is around 7-years-young and is a mild-mannered girl who like most hound mixes, likes to sniff around and lounge! She still gets spurts of "old lady energy" but most of her day is spent snoozin' 😴 Sue currently lives with two other dogs in his foster home and she gets along with them just fine 🐾 We think she could live with other dogs as long as they respect her space.

Sue will be visiting the shelter this week and we're REALLY hoping someone comes to adopt her 🐶 We're open all week at 12pm (except Thanksgiving) for visits where Sue will be waiting to meet you! See more our dogs here: https://bit.ly/3aVpERT

Our sweet Ginsberg has been through so much. She came from a fighting ring with over over 300 hundred dogs. We believe she was used for breeding. She is a sweet soul who loves everyone she meets. She is social, friendly but shy. She likes other dogs but would probably do best as an only dog.
She is good with She has been here since March and gets over looked constantly. She is awesome. Please consider fostering or better yet adopting our girl. If interested you can fill out an application on our website
