We want to celebrate the start of Black History Month by talking about some of the contributions that the Black community has made to veterinary medicine. Today; we are introducing Dr. Augustus Lushington. He is believed (although it is not entirely known) that he is the first Black graduate of a veterinary college. Born in 1869 in Trinidad and the son of a slave, he earned his DVM from the University of Pennsylvania in 1897 and went on to treat mainly livestock in Lynchburg, VA until his death in 1939. He is considered by many to be a pioneer in the field. We are proud to honor him today.

At least 2 cats have died from HPAI (bird flu) from raw milk (yes, HPAI has crossed to cows) and another from raw food.

Please feed pasteurized and cooked food to your dogs and cats.

The death of an Oregon house cat from bird flu and a pet food recall are raising questions about how people can protect their pets.

We had a hit by car on I-76 brought to us today. It is a young (less than 2 years) female 30ish pounds. No microship or tags. Aussie doodle? Small bernadoodle?

Do you have an emergency plan for your pet while you're out of town?
