Adoption Update - Hope! 'Hope follows my wife around the house like a puppy. At night, she loves sleeping on one of our beds, usually on my daughter's. During the day, she loves hanging out wherever we are, usually in the living room. She loves sitting on the backrest of a sofa, watching the street, and sometimes she takes a nap right there. ' 🛏

Adoption Update - Converse and Ardbeg (fka Chip and Flynn)!

'Converse is both the snuggly one, and the instigator. He was the 1st one to dash out of their room to explore the rest of the apartment, the 1st to jump up on the high furniture, and the one that will follow Percy [resident cat] and try to annoy her. But he is also the one that will take over your lap for a snooze or to demand pets. He is easily distracted with spring toys which I think outranks even treats.

Ardbeg is a bit more cautious, unless he hears a wand toy and then he will sprint from wherever he is to play, he has his favorite nap spots, and is a bit more laid back around Percy and seems to be her preferred new roommate. He is growing a little faster than his brother and is like a gangly teenager right now. We have taken the introduction pretty slow, so for now they are on supervised free roam when I am at home, but at night or when I'm gone still in their room, where they can run and jump and climb and stare our the sliding door at the birds and squirrels outside. Converse's quiet meow from the next room is my new and more effective alarm clock.

Percy hasn't quite decided what to think yet. She will watch the brothers play and will even walk into whatever room they are in, but then seems surprised when they approach her. All are all still in the slow approach and sniff stage, and there have been the occasional startled hiss or swat. Percy and Converse kind of equally are the ones starting things, but its mostly performative. Over the weekend all 3 napped on my bed while I read for about an hour. Its slow progress, but progress none the less.'

Snowcap (now Dusty) was adopted! He spent a good bit of time in a medical foster home and, once finally cleared for adoption, was immediately snapped up... by his foster. Though not intended at the start of the foster stay, sometimes it's just meant to be! Happy life, little one - enjoy your new fur-siblings!

Adoption Update - Violet (fka Shego)! "Violet is the best cat! She takes good care of me and since her adoption, I always wake up on time. She either gently paws my face and meows or she stands with one paw on my head while the other grasps hair for her to chew on! It’s quite the experience!

She loves to snuggle and has become such a lovely little lap cat. Her favorite toys are these little catnip mice and her meowgarita glass, which she joyfully flings into the air and bats around every day. We also have prime bird watching windows, where she can often be found chittering at the birds.

Her nickname is “Spooky Girl” because she is still very scared of other people and becomes a running black blur of fur when they come over. But as soon as they leave, she’s back to her silly, playful self." 🐦

Screech and Slater were adopted! These boys needed a bit of time to settle once they got to Gifford, and they were still on the shy side when their adopters came to meet them and decided to give them a chance. Showing them patience and gentleness, the kitties have made good progress in the time they've been home. Their adopter recently wrote to us:

"The cats are adjusting nicely to our home! Jack (formerly Screech) is very playful, loves gets scratches, and is now comfortable sitting in our laps to get pets. He especially likes our two sons. Nacho (formally Slater) is still shy and has only let us pet him a few times. But he loves exploring and climbing."

Our thanks to these adopters for letting Jack and Nacho feel safe enough to start coming out of their shells!

Adoption Update - Gizmo! 'Gizmo is the best! He likes to sleep on a comfy cotton throw as well as his cat bed. Still fascinated by birds and squirrels at the windows. Always thinks he is suppose to eat at 4pm (although dinner is usually 5:30) and tries to tell me this at 4 by taking my glasses away from me as I work at my computer.' 💻

Chet and Aquiles are home! Though not biologically related, these two boys became best friends and brothers during their tenure at the shelter and couldn't possibly have gone home without one another. Over their long stay with us, they became a part of a lot of peoples' lives, becoming steady fixtures amongst the busy hustle and bustle often going on. Perhaps it's no surprise, then, that one of our own decided to give them the gift of a forever home. We're grateful for their time with us, but are even more happy that Chet and Aquiles are safely home, and deeply loved. We look forward to many years of updates from their adopters!

Adoption Update - Mocha Moosh (fka Moosh)! It's been two years now since I adopted Miss Mocha Moosh (formerly just Moosh) from Gifford, and what a wonderful two years it's been. The last year has included some big changes like moving apartments, but Moosh has handled it like a champ. In the last year she has also discovered the joys of napping on couches and of sleeping in bed with me, which has been absolutely delightful. Thank you for taking care of Moosh before she had a home and for entrusting her to me!' 🛋💤

Silly, sweet sisters, HotLips and Virginia, introduced to you back in November as looking for a special home together, found their way to just that, when they met and won the hearts of their new owners. Adoption Update - Millie (fka Rica)! 'Millie is the light of our lives. We’ve had her for two years and are completely obsessed with her! She makes exceptional biscuits and loves to loaf just about anywhere, although she prefers the discomfort of the inside of our entertainment center cabinet the most. She’s a cuddly girl and will sit on our laps whenever available. Her dad works from home, so she is very rarely without at least one human in the house and she loves the companionship! Her favorite toy is her pink sparkly pompom and she absolutely loves getting brushed. We are so, so lucky to have Millie!' 🍞☀
