HTAT is a cageless adoption center for adult cats & kittens offering free TNR & cat behavior help, a pet food pantry & a spay/neuter program to residents in Brimfield, Holland, Palmer, Monson, Southbridge, Sturbridge, Wales, Ware & Warren, MA. WHO WE ARE:
Here Today Adopted Tomorrow is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-driven group focused on creating and supporting the bond between animals and

people in our community. WHAT WE DO:
HTAT operates a cage-free cat shelter in Brimfield, MA, and has several community assistance programs to help families keep their pets. We run a Pet Food Pantry, help people find and pay for spay/neuter surgeries for their pets, and help adopters of special-needs cats pay for their cats' medical treatments. We partner with fellow community members to maintain healthy outdoor cat populations by humanely trapping community cats, spaying or neutering them, and then returning them to their outdoor home. WHY WE DO IT:
We believe that pets are family, and we want to keep families together.

Miss Gary’s name might raise eyebrows, but her gentle nature will win your heart. When she was a kitten, everyone thought she was a he and named her “Gary.” By the time they realized she was a she, the name had already stuck. After her owner sadly passed away, we decided to add a little feminine flair, giving her the title she deserves: Miss Gary.

Now, Miss Gary is still settling into shelter life, so she tends to hang back when you first meet her. But the moment you start petting her, everything changes. She leans into your hand, arches her back, purrs loudly, and asks for more love. It’s as if she’s saying, “I’m ready to trust again.”

Every Monday,the HTAT volunteers ask the same question: “Why are Blizzard Bill and Tsunami Joe still here?” And honestly, it’s a tough one to answer—because these two are so ready for a home of their own!
They’re the shelter’s playful clowns, running around, chasing each other, and making everyone laugh with their antics! 😹 They came in with a group of 9 cats in December, and while they were a little withdrawn at first, they’ve blossomed into playful, affectionate companions.

However, there’s a catch: they tend to nap during visiting hours on Saturdays from 1-4 PM, so you might not see their true personalities at first. But trust us—they’re full of energy and love, and we know they’ll impress once they’re awake and ready to play!

These two are great together, but they’re also fantastic at making new friends—both feline and human—so they’d do just as well if adopted separately. This sweet boy may not be a jungle cat, but he's got the heart of one. Bagheera doesn’t know he’s different. He doesn’t understand why people walk past his room, afraid to meet him. All he knows is that he loves every person he meets and will do whatever it takes to get their attention—even standing up on his back legs like he's saying, “Hi, I’m here! I’m ready to love you!” 🐈‍⬛

He’s already stolen the hearts of the HTAT volunteers and staff, who can’t get enough of his sweet, loving personality. But Bagheera doesn’t want to stay at the shelter forever—he’s dreaming of a family to call his own.

Bagheera has Feline Leukemia, FeLV, which means he might not live as long as other cats, but that doesn’t stop him from being healthy, happy, and full of love right now.

If you don’t have other cats at home (or you already have FeLV+ kitties or are willing to get your other cats the FeLV vaccine), Bagheera would be the most loyal, affectionate friend you could ever ask for. He’s been waiting so patiently for his chance at a family. Could you open your heart and give him the home he’s been dreaming of? 🏡❤️

Meet Jerry: The Handsome Cat Still Waiting for His Christmas Miracle ❤️

On Christmas Eve, Jerry’s world turned upside down. His owner, facing an unwanted move, had to say goodbye, leaving Jerry in search of a new home. Since then, he’s been patiently waiting at HTAT, hoping for someone who can accept him for who he really is.

With his striking good looks, Jerry turns heads and gets lots of attention online. But in person, people often expect him to be something he’s not. Jerry isn’t the playful lap-cat type or the life of the party. He’s a quiet, reserved soul who prefers to take his time building trust.

Feeders and caretakers of feral cats or colonies in these towns are also eligible. Upcoming Pet Food Pantry pick-up dates are happening 1/25 and 2/8.

You may recognize me, I was the New Years cat.🌟 I might have wished you a Happy New Year, but I'm still waiting for mine! 🌟 It's been over a month and a half since I arrived at the HTAT shelter with my pals Hurricane Hank and Misty May, and I'm almost the last one left. I’ve come out of my shell and I’m ready to share all my love with the right family. If you’re looking for a furry friend to call your own, please consider adopting me so I can start my New Year in the best way possible! 🏡💖

1) Does your cat sometimes bite when you are petting her? If so, read on in this month's Cat Tips. I am going to talk about petting-induced aggression. This is a fixable problem. This one usually takes people by surprise because it occurs when the cat owner and cat seem to be enjoying closeness. It's scary and it seems to come out of nowhere, but there may be warning signs that are exhibited before the cat reaches the point of biting.

2) What I see most often is the cat initially enjoys the physical contact, but then it gets to be too much. That's where the warning signs start to be displayed. When a warning sign is ignored, the cat has no other option but to bite. Although you think your cat is bad for having bitten, your cat is actually scared and anxious because the "official" warning signals went unheeded.

3) To avoid being the target of petting-induced aggression, your best plan is to become more aware of the warning signs. Some typical ones include skin twitching, tail lashing, tail thumping, meowing, cessation of purring, ears going into a T position, and shifting of body position. Glancing at your hand is another sign.

4) If your cat is predictable in terms of how long petting is allowed, use that knowledge to avoid getting to any warning signals. For example, if your cat typically lets you pet her for 5 minutes before biting, then stop after 2 minutes. So, try to get a handle on the length of time and always stop before that. This way you leave her in a contented state or even wanting more, rather than getting to the point of over stimulation. The more sessions you do in which she sees you have understood her, the better it will be. Even if she only allows petting for 1 minute - then stop after 30 seconds. You can gradually lengthen the duration of the petting sessions. Also, you can stop, give her a break, and then resume. You can do this by the stroke, as well. If she allows 5 strokes, then stop after 2.
