Here Today Adopted Tomorrow Animal Sanctuary OUR MISSION: To create and support the bond between animals and people in our community.

HTAT is a cageless adoption center for adult cats & kittens offering free TNR & cat behavior help, a pet food pantry & a spay/neuter program to residents in Brimfield, Holland, Palmer, Monson, Southbridge, Sturbridge, Wales, Ware & Warren, MA. WHO WE ARE:
Here Today Adopted Tomorrow is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-driven group focused on creating and supporting the bond between animals and

people in our community. WHAT WE DO:
HTAT operates a cage-free cat shelter in Brimfield, MA, and has several community assistance programs to help families keep their pets. We run a Pet Food Pantry, help people find and pay for spay/neuter surgeries for their pets, and help adopters of special-needs cats pay for their cats' medical treatments. We partner with fellow community members to maintain healthy outdoor cat populations by humanely trapping community cats, spaying or neutering them, and then returning them to their outdoor home. WHY WE DO IT:
We believe that pets are family, and we want to keep families together.

Even in darkness, Ava’s gentle spirit lights up the hearts of everyone around her. 💖 She doesn’t need to see to inspire love; she radiates it with every soft purr and every calm, trusting nuzzle. 😻 Meeting Ava reminds you that beauty truly does come from within. ✨

When Ava arrived at HTAT, her clouded eyes revealed what her heart never would: she can’t see. 😔 But Ava adapted with grace, relying on her other senses—and the support of people like you—to find her way. 🐾

HTAT’s cage-free cattery gave Ava the freedom to explore safely and at her own pace. She learned the layout of her world, found cozy spots, and found comfort in the sounds and smells around her.

Thanks to YOU, she had the time and care she needed until she found her way into the heart and home of her very own family. 🏡.

Even without sight, Ava showed us all what it means to truly see. Because of you, her gentle spirit will continue to shine, lighting the way for more cats like her.🌟

Hi, I'm Marshall and I have ONE holiday wish I'm hoping you can help get granted for me. 🪄

You see, I've been here at this nice place called HTAT for awhile now after being found outside. And boy, have they helped me grow into the playful 6-month-old I've become! I know I'm a handsome boy (they tell me so all the time!), but I'm starting to think that maybe I'm getting overlooked because there are many other younger kittens who also need loving homes. But I can assure you I'm just as sweet as those littles! And I LOVE other cats and snuggling with them too. ❤️

All I want for Christmas is a furever home of my own! Purrhaps that's with you or someone you know? I'd really appurreciate if if you can share my story so I can reach as many people as I can so I can increase my chances of having my very special wish granted! 🎅🏻🎄🐾

And if you would like to learn more about me or set up a time to come meet (ahem, play!) with me, please email [email protected].

Some cats come with baggage. Sirius came with a full luggage set, but he was ready to check it all in for a fresh start! 🐾

Sirius arrived at malnourished, matted, drooling, squinting, and in constant pain. He had entropion (his lashes rubbed against his eyes), stomatitis (a painful mouth condition), and a severe heart murmur. 😿

Dakin reached out to HTAT for help—and thanks to YOU, Sirius found the care and love he needed to heal.

There was no reason for Sirius to stay in the HTAT shelter waiting for his surgeries. So he was adopted along with Priscilla, a spirited kitten who would soon become his best friend. 💛

Thanks to your support, Sirius received life-changing surgeries—correcting his painful eye condition and removing all his teeth so he could eat without agony. A visit to the kitty cardiologist revealed he would be just fine. ❤️

Today, Sirius is thriving. His fur has grown back, his eyes shine brightly, and he and Priscilla are inseparable. 🐱🐾

You helped turn his story from one of pain to one of joy, and he’ll always be grateful for that.✨

💖 What do you do when a big, cuddly cat keeps throwing new challenges your way? You keep your heart open and continue giving him the support he needs.

Spike came to HTAT with litter box issues that seemed simple enough to fix. He’s a sensitive boy, so moving him to a quieter room made all the difference. For most cats, that would’ve been the end of it, but not Spike. Things only got more complicated. 😿

First, Spike’s bum turned bright red due to an a**l gland infection. Then, his mouth became so painful he could barely eat—stomatitis was to blame, and he needed all his teeth removed. 🦷💔

Just when things seemed under control, Spike began squinting. The eye specialist found a lesion that healed with medication, but it turned out Spike also had retinal atrophy. He’s only 2 and already nearly blind. 👁️

Through all of this, Spike never lost his sweetness. Last week, Emily came just to meet him, and it didn’t take long for Spike to curl up in her lap. 🐾

Through every hurdle, your generosity helped make sure Spike had the care he needed. You kept him going, and now, after nearly six months at HTAT, he’s found his forever home! 🐾❤️

Broccoli doesn’t know she’s different, but her path to happiness is one you’ll never forget. 🐾💖

At just two months old, this tiny black kitten was found outside and brought to HTAT. While her siblings zoomed around their foster home, Broccoli, the runt of the litter, took a gentler approach to life. 😻💕

During a routine checkup, Broccoli was diagnosed with a severe heart murmur. After a seizure, she was rushed to an emergency visit with the kitty cardiologist and started heart medication right away. The cardiologist also sent her to a kitty neurologist to address the seizures.

Broccoli doesn’t know she’s any different from any other cat. Today, she spends her days romping with the other cats and dogs in her home, always in the middle of the fun.🎉🐱

And regardless of the health hurdles Broccoli may experience in the future, one thing is clear: Because of you, she will have the life she deserves—full of love, joy, and adventure.🌟🎄

With her big, fluffy coat and soft, teddy bear-like appearance, this Maine C**n is unresistable —but beneath her cuddly exterior, 1-year-old Kloe was struggling. Her relentless ear infections kept coming back. 😞

When Kloe arrived at HTAT, her gentle nature shone through, even though she was in a lot of pain. 💖 Dr. Nancy discovered the source of her pain: a huge mass in her ear was causing the relentless infections. It needed to be removed to stop them for good.

While waiting for surgery, Kloe spent time in a foster home with Samantha and her family. With several young girls, a cat, and even a dog to play with, Kloe quickly became part of the family.

Thanks to your generous support, Kloe received the surgery she needed. The mass was removed, and she is finally free of pain. 🙌 Now, Kloe is thriving—playful, curious, and full of joy. And the best part? Samantha’s family adopted her! 🎉

Because of your kindness, Kloe’s life was transformed for the better with so much joy. Thank you for making the season brighter for Kloe and for all the cats whose lives you touch. 🐱❤️

Smudge didn’t seek the spotlight, but her story lit the way for so many others like her. 🐾✨

When Smudge arrived at HTAT over 12 years ago, she was overwhelmed, having had little human interaction. For months, Smudge stayed out of sight, earning the nickname “House Spirit” for the quiet way she blessed the shelter with her presence. 💫 While Smudge never fully trusted people enough to be touched, she eventually stopped hiding, allowing her playful spirit emerge.

Smudge became a permanent part of the HTAT family. Her gentle presence wove her into the fabric of our cattery, reminding everyone that all cats, no matter their nature, deserve a chance to be themselves. 🏡

Sadly, Smudge crossed the Rainbow bridge this past year, just shy of her 18th birthday. But her legacy lives on. Because of her, HTAT’s Spirit Cat Program was born, helping cats like her find loving homes where they are cherished for exactly who they are. 💕

Thanks to your generosity, cats like Smudge receive the time, care, and understanding they need to thrive. You’ve helped change how the world sees shy and fearful cats—not as unadoptable, but as unique souls with so much to give. 🐱💖

Sometimes, the best place for a cat to be is with the person who loves them most. For 14-year-old Merri, that place was always with Tamia—but life took them down a different path. 💔

When Tamia noticed Merri’s worrying health signs—excessive thirst and urination—she feared the worst: diabetes. Concerned about the cost, Tamia made the heart-wrenching decision to surrender Merri to Dakin Humane Society. Recognizing Merri’s need for specialized care, Dakin contacted HTAT.

As Merri began to feel better, it became clear: she didn’t need a new home—her place was always with Tamia. Thanks to HTAT’s Care for Life Program, Tamia can afford to manage Merri’s diabetes, and they’ve finally found their way back to each other. 🏡💕

This Christmas, Merri is back where she belongs, surrounded by Tamia’s love and care. 🌟🎄 Thanks to you, Merri and Tamia are celebrating a joyful reunion. Chronic illnesses like diabetes shouldn’t keep a cat from having a home. Your support helps make these life-changing moments possible, not just for Merri, but for all the cats who find their way to HTAT.❤️🐾 Merry Christmas, Merri! 🎅🎁

Each day leading up to Christmas, we’re sharing a story of a special Here Today Adopted Tomorrow cat from 2024—a cat whose life has been touched by your kindness and generosity. Theirs are stories of love, resilience, and the brighter futures you make possible.

Our first story is that of Peace Lily. We hope you enjoy the kickoff our our 12 Cats of Christmas celebration with her sweet story below ~

🎄Not all heroes wear capes—some have soft fur and endless love to give. 🐾💖 Peace Lily spent years as Sydney’s constant companion, bringing comfort to him and the residents of his assisted living facility. She rode beside him in his wheelchair, offered solace with her gentle presence, and even hopped onto the altar during worship services to provide spiritual comfort. 🌸🙏

When Sydney passed away, Peace Lily, who had spent her life as a caregiver, suddenly needed care herself. She was brought to Dakin Humane Society, where it was discovered she had a significant heart murmur. 💔 Recognizing her special needs, Dakin contacted HTAT for help.

At HTAT, Melissa met Peace Lily, and their bond was instant. 💕 Melissa adopted her, determined to give her the loving home she deserved. Through HTAT’s Care For Life Program, Peace Lily continues to receive the medical care she needs, while her new family provides all the love and comfort she could ever ask for. 🩺🐱

Thanks to you, she has found a new beginning—and so have many others. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making a difference in the lives of cats who need it most.❤️🐾

Looking for the purrfect gift idea for the cat lover in your life this holiday season? Purchasing a membership to our Here Today Club in their honor could be that special gift you've been looking for!

Here Today Club supporters give cats like young Andromeda a real chance at living a quality life free from the worry their medical or even behavioral conditions present. You see, Andromeda has gastrointestinal issues, and when her person had to surrender her due to a housing issue, we discovered what's needed to address her condition, which had been causing her to suffer with constipation and also diarrhea. Andromeda needed special prescription gastrointestinal “fiber response” food. But this food is expensive, and that's where the Here Today Club comes in!

This community of cat lovers' recurring donations help us ensure that cats like Andromeda (a total sweetie who is also currently available for adoption and is doing GRREAT on her special food) get the important care they need to manage their conditions FOR LIFE, which, in turn, means giving these special cats the added gift of finding their very own loving forever homes.

To learn more about giving the gift of love for cats to celebrate that special someone in your life this holiday season, please visit heretodaysanctuary.org/ht-club. And if you would like to learn more about adopting precious Andromeda whose white patches of fur are as pure as the driven snow, please email our shelter manager at [email protected].

Whether real or artificial, Christmas trees can be a hazard for your cat, explains Dr. Rachel Geller, who offers free cat behavior advice to people who need it through HTAT. She notes that holiday decorations and Chanukah candles can be of safety concern for cats.

"Cats are naturally curious about anything bright and sparkly, so your cat will probably want to climb the tree in the corner of the living room, check out fun-sounding crinkly items or wonder what those flames are! Here are my tips for keeping your cat out of trouble," Dr. Geller says.

Her advice: "Stay away from tinsel and other hanging decorations and don't leave very small dreidels or foil Chanukah gelt coverings out because these look just like cat toys. Your cat could swallow these or break glass ornaments, causing injury. Tinsel and foil in particular can cause serious illness. If it’s eaten, these items can cause a blockage in the stomach and intestines, and in some cases this can be fatal."

Also, be mindful that Christmas flowers and plants are poisonous to cats. "These plants are best kept away:
* poinsettia – poinsettia poisoning is mild;
* lilies – all parts of the plant are poisonous;
* holly and mistletoe – the berries are the most toxic;
* amaryllis plants – the bulbs, stalks and flowers are all toxic."

And remember that Christmas and Chanukah both involve food, so there's an added element of caution to exercise around your cat. The following foods, which are often used in holiday season recipes, are toxic to cats:
- onions;
- garlic;
- raisins;
- grapes;
- chocolate; and
- alcohol.

"With so many visitors, change and new smells, Christmas and Chanukah can be a stressful time of year for cats, particularly nervous ones," Dr. Geller adds. So, try and avoid:
- excessive cleaning and moving furniture about-this can remove your cat’s important scent deposits around your home, making your cat more nervously; and
- inviting other animals into your home-if other animals are in your home, keep them in a separate room with a solid door because you don't want your cat to lose her territory or feel like her territory is up for grabs.
