Before I tell about our week at the Mountain States Stockdog Association National Finals, I HAVE TO give thanks, praise, and GLORY TO GOD! 🙏🏼 without Him, none of this would be possible.
So the past couple weeks this little female Annie has overcome a LOT! Just 6 days before we made the trip to National Finals she was shot by a jerk neighbor after running off due to being shocked by our electric fence.. she got stitches taken out of her neck the second day of finals. Yes out of her neck. The bullet went through her collar and the loose skin of her throat..
She won the first round of Nursery sheep. She drew tough cattle all week but didn’t give up.
She was top 10 in nursery sheep, and futurity cattle averages. And she was 3rd in the futurity sheep average.
In Open cattle she drew a tough set in round one but put together a slow run to place 22nd. In round two Open cattle she was able to put together a better run but to only place 9th. Annie and I went into the open cattle Finals sitting in 7th place and over a minute behind the leader in the average.. we went into that Final round knowing we had to finish in a good time to have any chance of placing decent in the average. She worked like a champ in the final round and won the round and took the average making her Open National Champion. On top of that we received our awards for Nursery Dog Of The Year, Futurity Dog Of The Year, and Open reserve Dog Of The Year, along with our 10,000+ lifetime points jacket. To say I’m proud of this dog would be a huge understatement… She’s got so much heart! And turns out she’s pretty darn photogenic.. 😂
Thank you to Steve Wight and everyone who worked hard to make this event happen!
And Thanks to my sponsor Nutrena Feed for the great support and great food that kept Annie feeling her best throughout the week!
