At Summit, our strength lies in our people—each one contributing their unique skills, creativity, and passion to help us reach new heights. Over the next few weeks, we’re excited to introduce you to the incredible team behind our success. From innovative thinkers to problem solvers, these are the faces who make it all happen!

Meet Anthony, our warm-hearted veterinary assistant with an infectious smile and a passion for helping animals. For over five years, he’s been caring for pets in both shelters and clinics, bringing comfort to those in need. If you meet Anthony, you’ll quickly discover his boundless enthusiasm and his knack for brightening everyone’s day. Whether it’s a challenging task or a quick question, he’s always ready to help, and don’t be surprised if he throws in a joke to lighten the mood.

Anthony’s journey began up north, where he spent his childhood in Michigan and the New England area, before his family relocated to Northern Virginia in 2005. Now, he’s built a home filled with love alongside his wife, Christina, and their five rescued pets. Weekends at their place are filled with the joyful chaos of dogs chasing tennis balls and cats lazily lounging in sunbeams.

Anthony and Christina share a special bond, especially when they’re out on the water kayaking at Lake Frederick—the very spot where they got married. It’s a place that holds so many memories, and they make a point to return there as often as possible.

When he’s not working or out in nature with his camera, Anthony’s probably deep into a game on his Nintendo Switch, with Mario leading the way. He’s the kind of guy who believes in celebrating the small moments and finding joy in everything he does.

Anthony’s dedication to animal care goes beyond his daily tasks. He’s committed to expanding his skills in veterinary medicine, and he dreams of one day leading his own team. But in the meantime, he’s thrilled to bring his lighthearted spirit to work, ensuring that everyone—whether it’s a fellow staff member or a furry friend—feels valued and loved. If you see him around, don’t hesitate to say hello; you’re sure to leave with a smile.

❄️ Is It Too Cold for a Walk?
Winter weather shouldn’t stop your dog from staying active, but safety comes first! Here are tips for cold-weather exercise:
• 🐾 Check the temperature: If it’s below 32°F (or 20°F for small or short-haired dogs), limit outdoor time.
• 🧥 Use a coat or sweater for breeds that aren’t built for the cold.
• 🧹 Check paws after walks for ice, salt, or cracks.
• 🚪 Keep sessions shorter—indoor games like fetch are great alternatives.

Keeping your pet active helps maintain a healthy weight and burns off energy, but always prioritize their comfort and safety.

Meet Kaiti, who’s been passionate about animals ever since she can remember. She grew up in rural Northern Virginia, where she brought home her first dog from a barn where she rode horses. Since then, every wagging tail and soft nuzzle has fueled her love for all critters.

Her home turned into a sanctuary for all sorts of rescued animals – rabbits, horses, goats, ducks, you name it. They weren’t just pets; they were family.

Now, with three kids, a grandkid, three dogs, a rabbit, three horses and some goats, Kaiti’s life is all about caring for creatures. She’s a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist, soothing horses’ aches and helping them perform their best. When she isn’t working you can likely find her at the barn taking care of her horses.

But Kaiti’s kindness doesn’t stop there. She’s involved in everything from leading 4-H groups to being the Children’s Ministry Director at her church and also takes photos as a professional hobby photographer, mainly of pets and horses. She has won many awards on online platforms for her photography art.

Her favorite place, though, is the equestrian world, where she and her kids have shared lots of victories. She loves mentoring young riders, teaching them how to take care of horses properly to achieve their maximum potential in the show ring.

For Kaiti, every day is about celebrating the beauty of animals and spreading love and kindness to all creatures, big and small.

Christina’s journey into the world of animal care began in 2018, marked by her enriching experience at the Humane Society of Warren County, where fate intertwined her path with her now-husband, Anthony. Since then, she has passionately dedicated herself to the field, primarily serving in general practice clinics while pursuing her studies to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

Fueling her professional dedication is a profound affection for animal rescues, evident in her loving care of four dogs—Shenandoah, Teton, Rusty, and Pippin—and her feline companion, Milton. Beyond the clinic’s walls, Christina is an avid advocate for native biodiversity, weaving her passion for wildlife conservation into her everyday life. You’ll often find her immersed in the tranquility of her garden, cultivating native plants to support local ecosystems.

In her moments of leisure, Christina’s zest for life extends to diverse interests. An avid reader, she eagerly delves into the pages of captivating tales and attends a monthly book club, relishing the exchange of ideas and stories with fellow literary enthusiasts. Whether paddling through serene waters on a kayak, indulging in the enchantment of theater performances, or delving into immersive virtual worlds through video games, she embraces each opportunity for joy and exploration.

Adding to her repertoire of compassionate endeavors, Christina generously volunteers her time as a wildlife rehabilitator at the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center, extending her nurturing touch to creatures great and small. Her multifaceted pursuits not only reflect her unwavering commitment to animal welfare but also embody her vibrant spirit and boundless curiosity for the world around her.

"As a little girl, my heart was full of love for my collection of stuffed animals, each one a loyal companion in my adventures. My mom helped bring my dreams to life when she introduced me to a ball python snake, a rabbit, dogs, and cats—each one adding joy and warmth to our home.

In high school, I joined Future Farmers of America, where I had the chance to connect with all sorts of animals—sheep, chickens, chinchillas, guinea pigs, etc. Those experiences ignited my passion for veterinary medicine and deepened my love for animals. I often told my mom I wanted to be a veterinarian, and that dream has only grown stronger over the years.

What drives me in this field is the belief that animals are not just pets; they are family. I feel a deep calling to help those who can’t help themselves, to be their voice in times of need. I’m determined to provide every pet with the care and compassion they deserve because they hold such a vulnerable and crucial place in our lives.

When I’m not at the veterinary hospital, you’ll find me on the basketball court, hiking through nature, or enjoying precious moments with my family. Each day is a reminder of the love and connection we share, both with our loved ones and our furry friends."
