I don't post here often. Usually funny things I find.. updates or animals. I don't post the kids very often due to my distrust of social media. I follow so many of you! It is a joy to see and feel connection even without posting often myself.

These past two years, here in Montana have been amazing.. so very hard, but amazing. Our community it absolutely incredible and the house... well the house isn't much to write home about. One day maybe... if all our plans for it fall into place.

Most of you know Aaron took a traveling position with a massive electrical company out of California. He has worked so INCREDIBLY hard to become probably one of the youngest superintendents in the country, without college... working his way up the ranks from apprentice, to foreman, to general foreman to superintendent. I am so proud of him.. that being said, it has taken him away from us as a travler for nearly 15 months now.. only seeing him once to twice a month. It has taken its toll on both of us as well as the kids.

We have decided that once this school year is over, the kida and I are moving to be with him. He's currently working on a Meta project in Kuna ID.. we will rent while we are there for a minimum of 2 years, possibly 8.. probably buying again if it's 8-10 years...We are keeping the house here in Broadview and renting it out.

We are selling the chicken business and have already mostly shut down my dogs. I am down to 3 dogs with the plan to breed Twig and Axel at some point in the next 3 years to keep one then be done.
The chickens were just about to take off.. but I cannot move 200 chickens and rent with that many animals. It is going to be a massive task just to find a house who allow 3 dogs and 3 cats. So we are selling it...
We are hoping to keep the horses, at least for now as the people who are renting our house, plan on having animals themselves and adding the 4 horses and a donkey.. isn't too much more work, especially when we will continue to care for them.

So come June.. our goal is to move to be back together. It will have been 21 or 22 months apart. I know military families do it and have my utmost respect but we just aren't built for it any longer. Aaron's career is just incredible and I will get the kids settled in whatever new school and I will work. I have paused my schooling due to not knowing what is happening and the work ahead of me to move us and to get ready for renters. I am hoping to find a job near Boise to work on a ranch or equine facility or anything outdoors or with animals.

We shall see what future brings but for now.. we are excited to be working towards being back together again. That's all that matters for us. We will be back to visit in Montana often and we love our family and friends here. I am looking forward to meeting a new group and getting settled somewhere near Kuna in the next 6-8 months.

So it's always interesting around here BUT to add to it, I started working super part time with our amazing Vet here in Roundup. I have wanted to be a vet for as long as I can remember, I gave up on those dreams for decades as I grew, got married and had kids. Now I won't go entirely back to school but I am going back for my veterinary technician license. I started this week amd I have to say?!? I love it. I love the idea of having a career in veterinary medicine as well as it serving my choices for my own businesses well. Opening a hatchery and raising and breeding dogs, having a license which will help with that is going to be incredible. So excuse me while I hunker down and build two businesses, go to school, work, raise kids and remodel a house.. also.. please excuse the mess of all of that!🀣🀣
I've been there now for 5 or 6 weeks? I think?!?! I gotten to help check virility of bull and assist with all manners of things and I'm only minimally covered in green goo/poo every other day.. πŸ˜‚
SOOO all this to say, I haven't posted nearly enough photos or updates.. here comes a photo dump!

Something people might not know! Light colored pups can be born green! 🀣 It's when the pigmenting substance called Biliverdin and it can cause green. In Lucy's litter, the who one was stuck when Mama's uterus twisted around him making it impossible for him to be born. Lucky little guy was a fighter and survived the c-section and is STILL a light green 4 days later. Cute little thing though, the lighting (heat lamp) makes it hard to get the color but you can definitely still see his green tint.

In lighter news! It's always fun to see our pups grow, this time we're lucky enough to be close by when one of our puppy families went on a lifetime trip! We knew it was coming when we discussed them getting the pup and so Tramp, Now Luigi, is back here with us for the week and it's so fun! Also.. getting a photo of a moving pup, darn near impossible 🀣

There's always a silver lining! Lucy had her puppies today. Now it wasn't the dream labor or the easy way but Lucy is alive and well and she had 8 healthy pups. Unfortunately two were born sleeping, one was super tiny and the other one I am almost 100% positive suffered from placental abruption. After 8 hours in labor and 9 pups born, I knew there was most likely another one in there and after every attempt at home, I knew it was time for the vet's assistance. We did an xray at 2:30 today proving another pup stuck and a c-section by 3:15. It turns out her uterus had twisted and there was no way for that last pup to get out. We weren't sure it was even able to be saved but the little guy surprised us with a snort and I began working on him while my amazing vet and her team sewed Lucy back up. He lives and Lucy is lucky to be alive! I'm so grateful for that tickle.. that little urge, you know.. better be safe than sorry? In this case, it could have been way worse had I not. All in all, not a bad day. Lucy is also an awesome first time mama so there's that too.
We have 4 boys and 4 girls, again.. πŸ˜† 3 yellow boys, 1 yellow girl, 1 chocolate boy and 3 black girls.

Puppies! Lucy's pups finally decided to make their arrival. Thankfully it wasn't earlier as I was pretty sick this week, yesterday I'm not sure I could have helped her, I had a fever over 103. πŸ˜† God knew I didn't have it it me, much to the kids' dissatisfaction. They wanted a May 4th star wars litter. πŸ˜…
She's doing good so far. 2 yellow boys! Expecting 8-10, blacks, yellows and chocolates possible

Okay, sorry for that last post and a DEEP thank you for all who reached out or commented. My brain had a moment. Breeding isn't easy, nor is it cheap. Doing it right means thousands spent on your dogs, constantly worrying about and taking care of them, providing top notch veterinary care and most of all love. I LOVE my dogs. I'm sure you all can see that and many who know me personally know that I love and care for each of my dogs. They are not just breeders in my world. It hurts when one cannot breed or when one needs a new home due to it being best for that dog. We had Spur, she was great, she had bad hips and ended up with a partial tear in her ACL, orthopedic specialists told me it would heal on its own and with time and rest but not at my house, too much chaos and too many stairs. We made the decision to place her in a home back in Washington with a single dad and his kid where she's the only dog getting lots of love and in a single level home. She's healing and so happy.
I mention this because I will always stand by my dogs and my pups. I can't in my heart ever breed anything but purebred labs because they have my heart. I also can't doodle anything, the false marketing behind them and the craze just breaks my heart. Not saying there aren't good doodle pets out there but I just won't add too it.
I'll continue on this path I started over 3 years ago and will continue to raise well bred and healthy dogs who will be fantastic companions for their families, whether they are raised to hunt, do service work or just be a companion, they are the best breed to do it all.

❀️❀️❀️ Thank you for understanding my breakdown and for ALL Of your opinions and words of encouragement. If I hadn't responded yet, I will. I've just been a bit busy around here. Here's Axel.. living his best life.. on my bed, yes, I just woke him up and he's not amused and went immediately back to sleep🀣

Heres a question and a long post. For those interested in giving an opinion.

I chose to breed. I knew there was a cost and risk. It's just super frustrating when I have amazing dogs, I'm kinda biased but I do it right and I have to basically give them away or keep them all. I just sold my last pup at 9 weeks, almost 10 weeks old. I have 1 more litter due next week. It might be my last completely. Lucy is a high drive hunting dog, though. I have no idea if Axel's personality will calm hers down or if this group will be those wilder, highly driven labs.. If they are, I won't breed her again. There's enough "driven" labs out there. She'll get spayed & find a fantastic home for a 2.5 year old trained lab.

I got into this to raise, quality, affordable and fantastic dogs for families, for hunting, for companions and recently for service work. I firmly believe kids and families need dogs, good, healthy dogs.
There has to be a point though? These last two litters were sold at $500 each! Just to get them into homes!!!! They go home with shots from the vet, microchipped and lifetime support from me.

I want to work my program towards service type dogs, too, companions, and gentle/docile. That being said, not sure if people want that either. Sure, I can continue to donate pups to programs but not all programs take donations or want them. 😭

Sorry! I am just at a deep crossroads with the dogs. My family is seriously struggling with them as we fund this with our basic wages. I won't post on here how much each of my "breeding" dogs cost and the cost of breeding and vet bills and with the current market, it seems everyone wants cheap or free dogs. I have 4 breeding females (or who can hopefully breed). I haven't even done my preliminary OFA'S on my red girls. They just turned 1. They'll get those this summer. If they don't pass.. I definitely plan on being done.

I know people breeding anything mixed with a poodle and they sell all their pups for $1500-2000+ and have waiting lists and they don't have health clearances or anything! If my conscience would let me I'd join the - " If you can't beat em, join em" mentality and start breeding labradoodles.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Or even a word one way or another? Who wants doodles, who wants purebred, who wants hunting or service personalities? Anyone who owns one of my pups willing to talk me off a ledge? πŸ€£πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜
