One of our recent favorites at Fins For Grins, the Neolamprologus multifasciatus (AKA "Multies") may be tiny, but they have HUGE personalities! These incredible shell dwellers from Lake Tanganyika create entire colonies by living and breeding in empty snail shells.

Why Multies Are Awesome:
✅ Tiny but Tough – One of the smallest cichlids in the world, but fiercely protective of their shells!
✅ Master Architects – They dig, bury, and move their homes like tiny engineers.
✅ Perfect for Small Tanks – A 10-gallon setup can house a small colony!

Tank Setup & Care:
🌡 Temperature: 75-81°F
📏 pH: 7.5-9.0
🛖 Substrate: Soft sand (so they can dig!)
🐠 Tank Mates: Best kept with peaceful Tanganyikan fish like Cyprichromis leptosoma, Julidochromis transcriptus, or Synodontis lucipinnis. Avoid aggressive cichlids!

💡 Why does this work?
🔹 The constant flow of nutrient-rich water helps the garlic thrive.
🔹 The roots get plenty of oxygen from the water circulation.
🔹 No soil needed—just let nature do its thing!
