WAAGR is an all-volunteer animal rescue dedicated to rehoming Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes. We have no paid staff and rely on donations and fundraisers to help provide for a safe and happy life for Golden Retrievers that need a new home. All of our dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers until they are ready to be adopted. This process includes medical treatment and behavioral training as needed. All of our dogs are neutered/spayed, and microchipped before being adopted.

Meet Cassie!!

Cassie is an approximately 10-month-old mixed breed, weighing about 65 pounds, that one of our rescue partners from Texas saved from a southern shelter. Cassie's foster family in Texas had a DNA test done on her, and the results came back that she is Great Pyrenees, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever and Husky: No wonder she has a winning personality, and such stunning eyes! Cassie is mostly house trained (a p*e accident occasionally), and does well with other dogs and the resident cats. She is a gentle-natured dog, and her foster mom says she hasn't heard Cassie bark at all yet. Cassie loves to snuggle, and can't wait to find a family of her very own! A fenced yard is preferred, but not required. Cassie is spayed, microchipped and UTD on vaccinations.

Meet Sandy

Sandy is a gentle giant at approximately 80 pounds. Sandy is 2 years old, house trained, and good with other dogs, but prefers dogs that are low key, like her. She is spayed and UTD on vaccinations. Sandy's foster mom describes her as sweet and quiet, loves kids and even cats. Sandy enjoys attention, and would do best in a home with a fenced yard (preferred, but not required.) Whoever adopts Sandy is winning the jackpot!

In another edition of WAAGR's "A Love Letter to my Dog," we have Honey. "Honey came to us a little over 2 years ago from a breeder, after having her last litter. We decided to adopt her, and have not regretted it once. Her shy, sweet manner, and loyal nature, are a joy. ❤️"

Our next "A Love Letter to my Dog" is to Griffin (formerly Bambi from Turkey), who has been with his forever family for more than 4 years.

"We love him so much. He is a wonderful combination of sass and sweet. Griffin is always ready for the next adventure! This spring, he is joining us on a road trip doing the entire Route 66!"

It's cold here. Like really cold. We know many places are experiencing cold and snow not seen very often in those areas.
