We are delighted to share some exciting news with you about the growth and positive changes happening at Merrick Animal Hospital.

Dr. Nathan Horowitz and Jenny Massie (Veed), our practice manager, have officially purchased Merrick from the estate of Dr. James Hosek. While we will always miss Dr. Hosek and what he brought to this practice, we are excited about carrying his legacy into the future.

We look forward to continuing to serve this community as Merrick Animal Hospital has since 1934. Our wonderful caring staff will be staying with us and will continue to provide the best care possible to your animals.

Rest assured, there will be no changes to our values or our commitment to treating our patients like family. Thank you all for your continued loyalty.

With the Holiday quickly approaching we wanted to extend some helpful tips to keep your pets safe during the festivities! Also we recommend you check on your home stock of medications that help keep your fur babies comfortable! We are asking for refill requests to be submitted by Tuesday (July 2nd) 12pm in order to have it ready in time as we will be closed on the 4th of July.

Due to the winter storm we will be closing at 12pm today so our employees who were able to make it in are able to get back home safely before the next round hits. We hope to be open tomorrow normal hours as long as the roads are clear and our employees are able to get in safely. Please email us at [email protected] if you need any assistance. As a reminder we are closed today for our staff to spend the holidays with their families. Our phone system had an error and will not switch to our holiday closure message. We are working to get that resolved as soon as possible. We will return to office Tuesday, December 26th. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. As many of our clients know, Dr. Hosek has been battling pancreatic cancer for many years. He was incredibly strong throughout and even insisted on working most days because of his love for Merrick and the clients. We are deeply saddened to announce he lost his battle early Sunday morning surrounded by his family. Merrick is his legacy and will continue to embody his devotion to caring for animals and the people they owned. We ask at this time for your prayers for his family and the staff at Merrick who have lost an amazing husband, father, brother and friend. His family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Morris Animal Foundation as this was a charity he cared deeply about. A memorial is set for Saturday, 12/30, at 10:00 am. It will be at North Park Covenant Church, 5250 N Christiana Ave. Chicago. 60625.
