So check this out….the awesome adopter that took our two doxies (and previously a gsd puppy) came in to foster Picasso- that’s how she found out about the doxies (she just lost one of hers :(). She still wanted to give Picasso a break from the shelter. She reports he is phenomenal with the littles and everyone! Picasso IS AVAILABLE.

Aria came to our shelter on October 11, 2019. She was young and super playful and very trusting. She was adopted on November 29, 2019, but returned in January 2020 due to her energy level being too much for the adopter. She was then adopted in February 2020, and returned four years later on May 29, 2024, due to the Adopters health issues and moving out of state. Aria has been at our shelter for 209 days now and is seven years, two months old she’s 65 pounds. Aria is wonderful in playgroup, she loves to ride in the car, and she loves to run in the yard. I’ve taken her to the ranch multiple times and that is where I really get to see her open up. Aria is very slow to trust new people. Because she’s been let down several times. She needs a hero. She needs someone that will take her home and let her learn to trust again. Please consider giving her the home she deserves. Help her learn to trust again. Please

Caleb, Christian, Claus, and Nicholas are hoping to bring joy to a family this Christmas Eve with an appointment. They are all neutered with their first round of vaccinations, dewormer, and microchip. They are all boys. Born to a Pit Bull mom and German Shepherd dad, both now spayed/neutered, these young ones are ready to thrive. Email [email protected]

Eggs arrived with waffles, Benedict and bacon. Everyone else has found their forever home and Eggs is wondering if he'll experience the joy of a home for Christmas. He's the most compassionate and emotionally intelligent member of the group. He's exceptional with other dogs and will undoubtedly thrive with children. I'm confident he could harmoniously welcome a cat into his life as well! Email [email protected] and we will get you an appointment.

It appears that Zeus now has a distinctly different worldview. The South Coast Humane Society rescued him and his brother Odin from the Sutter animal shelter in Yuba City. It seems they may have been confined to a cement kennel, given the significant calluses on their elbows and the presence of happy tail, a condition caused by prolonged confinement in a kennel too small, resulting in their tail hitting the side and bleeding. The skilled hands of Dr. Tribble at Harbor Vet are greatly appreciated for ensuring a successful surgery. Weighing 128 pounds, Zeus has demonstrated excellent compatibility with dogs at our shelter following proper introduction. He is currently available for adoption.

Rescue can be so draining- from the original shelter to the networkers, to the transporters, to the shelter receiving. This process can be so challenging and a balancing act- I just received a video of Maddie, formerly Artemis that came to me from Contra Costa Animal Shelter over a year ago- Maddie was just adopted. This shows how much these animals mean to everyone that they come into contact with. This volunteer with CCAS had been watching and waiting for Maddie to be adopted- here is the video of her with Maddie at CCAS!!! Thanks for not giving up on her! https://youtu.be/gwK1YR74GhU?si=8pFbK7BRFHlp44RI

From the volunteer:
I thought she had been adopted again and was shocked when I saw her on your post. Thank you for caring for her. She was very misunderstood in the shelter and it was a super sad place for her. Please tell her new adopter that Maddie has a lot of volunteers that ❤️ her.

SUNDAY smiles:

Jenifer, Staff and Volunteers,

We wanted to send Holiday Greetings and give a quick update and share some pictures of our adopted boy Charlie (previously Cooper). We are nearing two months with this gangly, snuggly, smart, clown of a dog, and he has quickly made himself a part of the family.

Charlie has "sit", "down", "shake", "touch", "wait/stay" already mastered, and is a total pro at fetch. He loves going for walks and prances like a show horse, making it hard not to giggle at his legs and tail all going in different directions. Playing with big brother, especially zoomies tag through the yard is his favorite, although his energy is a little bit higher, so he does have to get told to settle down once in a while. He has gotten taller, pretty sure it was just his legs though, total awkward teenager for sure. He goes with us anytime we go somewhere dog friendly, and will soon join us on our trips to Eugene where he will get to experience the hotel life. He had a blast at dads work Christmas party, he was able to mingle with new people, who were more than happy to share treats to help make friends, Hooray for dog friendly employers! He had his first outing in the hills to help pick out a Christmas tree and we have to say we are more than excited for him to be part of our outdoor adventures.
Charlie is still learning that any human mom and dad introduce him to are friendly. When you are part guardian breed this is your nature and we respect that, but it doesn't mean we aren't going to keep working on it. He also needs to learn his full name is not "Charlie Don't Chase the Cats", a challenge when one of your cats thinks it is a dog and plays with him, totally ruining any previous impulse control, but we will get there.

Charlie wakes up everyday excited, it is contagious and you couldn't ask for anything better.

Thank you for letting us add this silly boy to our family ❤️
