His name was DOPPLEGANGER.

He was a stray.

A good citizen brought him to me on Friday at 5 pm.

She noted that he crawled up on Her porch and was crying. She had not been able to handle him before that.

I took him out of the box and noticed a strong smell of urine and his back end was wet.

I felt his stomach. It was FULL AND TIGHT. I have felt this before and knew that he was blocked.

I rushed him to Town and Country. I had high hopes based upon his perky, friendly demeanor when I was looking at him that the surgery would go well.

I received a call about 15 minutes later. His blood work revealed full kidney failure. They recommended to humanely put him to rest. 😞

RIP DOPPLEGANGER- you were not just a stray to me- your life mattered.
To the citizen that cared enough to bring him to me. Thank you

It is going to be another BUSY week. Early mornings and late nights. Today we have Doctor Franusich coming for wellness appointments (these are all pre-booked). We have TONS of puppies available and really need to find them soft landings with families that will put the time and effort into making them good family members (it's all about the parenting). We are FULL of really nice ADULT cats and are hoping for some great adoptions this week. Kitten season is UPON US and we really need to move some of our adults to make some room for the influx that will no doubt happen. We have a few dogs coming in- I am constantly being asked to take in full grown dogs and more puppies. In a perfect world, the shelter would be to house an occasional stray, or animals whose family passed and need a temporary place until someone adopts them, but this is where we are in society today. I DO HAVE SOME OPENINGS FOR OUR NEXT SNIPPED TRIP FOR CATS- PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET ON THAT TRIP (be aware that the drop off will be Tuesday, March 4th 4-5pm) and the pick up is the next day around 630pm. I have approximately 5 male openings and 5 female openings. I will do my best to get right back to you, but be patient- it is going to be a long week!

If nothing else happened today- THIS WOULD MAKE UP FOR IT!!! Long time resident ROSA- who has been with us since 10-21-23 (she’s an angel) and DOTTIE who was transferred to us in January and was previously in Valley Oak SPCA since 2-10-23 have been adopted TOGETHER!!!!!!
