What better way to spend a Saturday evening than welcoming over 40 dogs to their new life? Our volunteers are still hard at work, giving baths, completing vetting, and sending these pups off to their foster homes.

This was an ADORABLE bunch of pups! They were released from a breeder and tonight was the first night of their brand new life. They don’t know it yet, but it’s all up from here ❤️

All of these dogs will be vaccinated, altered, and microchipped. They’ll also receive their preventatives and dewormer. Other than one pup with a heart murmur, we haven’t hit any health snags yet (knock on wood!!), but it will still be quite expensive to cover all their vetting needs. This is Wookie, he is scared, and Shy. He would do anything to be a wall flower. He is looking for a family who is patient and kind. He would do best if he had a confident dog to follow around to show him the world isn't so scary.

This is Winnie. This sweet girl is hurting right now. Winnie was removed from a household due to animal cruelty and she ended up at a shelter. She was so skinny and malnourished. Winnie sat in a shelter for two months before we saw her pictures and knew we had to help.

Winnie was pulled from the shelter and taken to the vet. They suspected she had mange and did a skin scraping test. Surprisingly, her skin condition is not due to mange, and could possibly be due to a chemical burn. We aren’t quite sure, which means we’ll have to do additional testing once sweet Winnie joins NDLB in a few days.

Winnie has the sweetest eyes and a story to tell. We are so excited to welcome her! She’ll learn all about the good life in her foster home 💜 please share some kind words for Winnie!

Today is Vet Appreciation Day & we wanted to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to our vet partners. They have all been a pleasure to work with and they take such great care of our pups! Here is Becky, who was well taken care of by WellHaven Pet Health Maple Grove staff during her difficult delivery a few weeks ago. What an amazing team!!

This is Terry Brigham. This incredible woman passed away and her family wanted to make sure she left an impact when she left this world. They made a donation in her honor to us. Words cannot express how sad we are for her passing, but all our condolences go to the family.

Breeder release dogs need caring and patient fosters. Many are not used to love and affection. They tend to be great with other dogs and will lean on a well adjusted resident dog to show them how to "dog". They are not house or crate trained, and may be scared of metal bowls, stairs, grass, and crossing thresholds. They often need to be carried outside for potty breaks. Adults usually have extensive vetting needs, and need a stable foster home for more than a month. This is the hardest, but most rewarding foster experience you'll have.

Fosters can adopt their fosters but they need to have their application in within 7 days of picking up the dog. (but we cannot determine adoption fees until after vetting is determined).
Fosters with well-adjusted resident dogs will receive priority.

What do you see in this picture?
Here’s what we see, a scared breeder release foster who got lost but decided she wasn’t for the streets so she walked into a strangers home and took a load off.
Jenny ( Australian shepherd) is back home with her foster. She’s safe and sound! A huge thank you to our lost dog team and The Retrievers for helping get this girl.
And the biggest thank you to the good samaritan, who left their door open to let her wonder in. 🩷 welcome back Jenny.

Slick was lost in the Monticello area on 5/25. Jenny
was lost in the Shafer area on 6/2. Both pups are very
scared and timid with people. If you see Slick or Jenny, DO NOT chase, call, whistle, etc. as this is likely to scare them further. Instead, please make note of their location and contact the number on the flyer (763-354-4657).

Send prayers or good thoughts that Slick and Jenny
both make their way back to us. All we want is for
them to be safe and healthy!

We are little late on posting this video, but this is Elvis! He came in 1 week ago from Afghanistan. This was the night he came in. He was the last guy to get picked up by his foster. So a volunteer let him out of his kennel to play…. Look how happy he is, he has a new lease on life and he’s gonna live it!
We Love you Elvis and we are so grateful we get to be part of your journey 🩷

We recently welcomed 8 dogs from Afghanistan into rescue following a monumental mission by Kabul Small Animal Rescue! These lovely, resilient pups are settling into their foster homes so we thought it was time for an update.

All of them are quite timid and uncertain, which is understandable given that they had a LONG journey from Afghanistan to Poland to DC to Minnesota. They will need time to decompress and build their confidence, but already we are seeing great progress from them! In their foster homes, our new friends are learning how to show affection, have fun, trust their fosters, and relax.

We are still in awe that these cuties are with us & are getting a brand new chance at life. It’s special to see any dogs progress, but we think it’s extra special to see these pups start to thrive. Thanks to KSAR and our wonderful fosters, our 8 new pups are getting opportunities in Minnesota that they would have never received abroad. It’s an honor to be a part of this mission!

Puppy yoga is this Saturday (June 15) & we are excited!! Maxi’s litter will be joining us for a fun morning of puppy kisses and relaxing exercise.
