In case you missed it 💙
Kare 11 did a story on the pups we got in today!
We are so proud to be a part of their journey!
Thank you to Pit Squad Rescue MN for being a partner in this.
**These dogs were already in the shelter and do not have families. By welcoming these pups to Minnesota, we helped open up shelter space for the dogs that have been separated from their families in the hurricane.**
It’s true what they say: If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. But sometimes love means letting go, even when the decision breaks your heart. We made the tough and compassionate decision to say goodbye to our Surly girl yesterday.
Surly was just 11 days shy of her one year anniversary in rescue. During that time, we had the pleasure of seeing her personality shine. She was truly one-of-a-kind.. Probably the most dramatic, spoiled, and silliest girl in the world. We laughed at her antics every single day. Surly was so completely herself; she knew she was a queen and demanded to be treated like one!
She started to slow down in her old age, preferring to snooze peacefully on the couch until it was time to get up and beg for snacks. In the past few days, however, Surly stopped eating and spent most of her time sleeping. Once she stopped showing interest in even the tastiest of snacks (chicken nuggets), we knew it was time 💔 Surly left this earth with her foster mom at her side, knowing that she was completely and totally loved beyond words.
Surly, it was a pleasure and an honor to have you as one of our rescue dogs. We all loved you so so much, your foster mom most of all. Thank you for being the best girl.
If you can, please share a few kind words with Surly’s foster mom. She had a very special bond with Big Sur and this loss is devastating.
Hug your senior pups extra tight today. Rest easy, Surly, and say hi to all the dogs over the rainbow bridge for us. We’ll miss you forever and a day 🤍
