Blue Skies Farm

Blue Skies Farm Organically grown u-pick raspberries since 1991. We grow red, orange and yellow raspberries prepicked and upick. We are open seasonally -- August thru September.

After 30 years 2022 will be our final year, as Paul needs to retire now at nearly 70 years of age. We expect our last market days to be in the last half of September. You can find us on the Square between Starbucks and Walgreens on Saturdays and on Tuesday at the East Side Farmers Market. By the way, we grow our crops organically, but we no longer certify them as organic.

The photo doesn't show it well, but our bushes are full of green raspberries waiting for rain. Without rain we're getting about 30 to 40 pints a day. If we get rain Tuesday night these will plump up and ripen quickly.

That said, we are open daily weekdays at 9 am. We are closed Saturday. On Sunday and Monday, Labor Day, we open at 9. If we get totally cleaned out Sunday, we may adjust our hours for Labor Day.

Our season is starting on the slow side this year, so I expect we'll be open through September, unless Nature gives us an early frost.

I just walked the field to check on ripening raspberries for Friday August 23. Unfortunately I will not have enough to open up for pick your own raspberries. Come next week I will have lots of raspberries They are comming, we just have to wait a little longer. The most plentiful time will be in September.

We will be open for u-pick raspberries Friday at 9 am. And Sunday at 8 am. We often get picked clean by noon early in the season

After two cool mornings and slow ripening we will be open Wednesday, August 21, for raspberry picking at 9 am. I'm estimating 48 to 60 pints in the field, of which 12 to 15 will be our golden berries.

Cool nights mean slow ripening but bid berries with sweet flavor.

If we get a big turnout for Wednesday we will need Thursday for ripening. We will be open Friday and Sunday. Sunday, due to the expected heat (90 degrees predicted) we open at 8 am.

UPDATE we did get a large turnout, so with another cool night we have to skip Thursday for u-pick. We will be open 9 am Friday and 8 am Sunday.

August 14 -- our farm is almost ready. Raspberries are still mostly green, and after the rain on Thursday and Friday they will begin ripening.

We currently are getting about 12 pints a day from our 12-200 ft rows. By the end of next week that should be close to 60 pints daily.

At this point, I do not think we can open for this weekend (Aug 17&18) but Monday we should have enough to open.

Fir those interested in large quantities our peak picking should be just after Labor Day.

Hope to see you out here this season. We take cash, checks and credit cards. We usually have prepicked berries available at the farm. U-pick berries are $4 a full container and prepicked are $5.

We will be at the Eastside Farmer's Market on Tuesdays and the Dane County Farmer's Market on Saturdays.

The Raspberries are just starting to bloom. Right on schedule! I should be open in mid-August and plan on continuing through September.

For planning purposes my hours will be 9am-noonish Sunday - Friday. I am closed on Saturdays because I will be at the Dane County Farmers Market in Madison selling raspberries.

Prices are $4 a pint for U-pick and $6 a pint for Pre-picked. For those of you who will be coming to the farm we encourage you to call the Raspberry Hotline 608 455 2803 to make sure we are still open. This is particularly important on Sundays when we get so many people that we may have to close the field early.

We have had plentiful rain. The Raspberries are tall and there will be very little bending over. We are going to have a bumper crop this year -- but depends on August's weather. The most plentiful time will be the end of August and beginning of September.

Hope to see you out here or at the market.

We are a raspberry farm, with our season starting in August. We no longer grow vegetables, ginger, or strawberries.
