TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY OF THE 2024 SEASON

Happy Halloween! And also, happy last day of the 2024 Apple Season. Today is our final open day and tomorrow we will be closed for the season.

What a season it has been! We had a record low yield for Apples in the valley. But boy, did all of you help us make the most of it. Even though we are closing a month early this season, we are so grateful for the season we have had. We are truly thankful to have gotten to spend the 2024 season with you all. Thank you for supporting our Orchard and our families. It is a joy to provide fresh produce for you all to pick and enjoy.

If you were still hoping to grab some apples today, we have Cripps Pink and Granny Smith available. You do have to go far down the rows, and might need to look up in the tree to find them. Don't feel like you can make the long walk down the rows? Just give us a call or send us a message and we will have a Beilke Box picked and ready for you to pickup.

FINAL DAY OF SEASON IS HALLOWEEN

What a season we have had! This year was a record low yield for Apples across the Willamette Valley. As a result, we are having to close early. We love being open until Thanksgiving, but this year that is just not an option. We are down to TWO varieties in the orchard.

Those two varieties still available are Cripps Pink and Granny Smith. You do have to go far down the rows, and might need to look up in the tree to find them. Don't feel like you can make the long walk down the rows? Just give us a call or send us a message and we will have a Beilke Box picked and ready for you for pickup.

Our final week of The Largest Apple Contest has a winner! Abby won our final week with a Melrose apple weighing 1.1 pounds. Congratulations to Abby! You have won two free buckets of u-pick apples!

Pumpkins are still available in the Pumpkin Patch until Halloween. We have pink, white, orange, and some blue still available.

Tomatoes are about finished. We do still have some Romas available for u-pick, but it will take a little bit of hunting to find them. The farther down the rows you go, the more success you will have.

PUMPKINS AND TRAFFIC CONES

It is getting spooky in the Apple Orchard! We are heading into Halloween week and we are ready for it. The pumpkin patch has lots of classic carving pumpkins still ready to be found, and some decorative too. Fun fact, the pink and blue decorative pumpkins also cook down perfectly for making pies and other treats.

The Apples are still doing great but we are definitely at the end of the rows for picking. We have orange traffic cones down the rows indicating where the loaded trees can be found. Trees will be empty until you get to those cones. Don't feel like you can make the long walk down the rows? Just give us a call or send us a message and we will have a Beilke Box picked and ready for you for pickup. We are monitoring the orchard and we expect to sell out of apples sooner than usual. We love being open until Thanksgiving like we are every year, but this will not be happening. We have probably 10-14 days left of the season and will keep you updated as we go.

Tomatoes are still doing well. Romas especially are still plentiful and easy picking. The slicers can still be found but will definitely take more hunting to find.

Flowers are still available for u-pick until the first frost. Bouquets will also be available this weekend, Thursday -Sunday. If we have a frost in the next two nights, this will be the last weekend for bouquets at the stand.

LARGEST APPLE CONTEST WEEK #3 WINNER

The third week of the Largest Apple Contest has a winner! Kelsey won week #3 with a Golden Delicious Apple weighing in at 1.04 pounds. We are amazed each week at the bigger and bigger apples you all are finding. Congratulations to Kelsey, you won two free buckets of u-pick apples. We start our final week, week #4, today so make sure to stop in at the Apple stand and have your largest apple weighed in to enter week #4. The winner will receive TWO FREE BUCKETS of u-pick apples!

We have Pumpkins waiting to be found in the Pumpkin Patch. All sizes of jack-o'-lanterns ready to be picked and carved. We would love to see how you have decorated your homes with our pumpkin assortment this year!

Tomatoes are doing great. Specifically, the Roma Tomatoes. If you were still wanting to get some canned, we have them ready to be picked.

Apples, Pumpkins, and Tomatoes, OH MY!

Fall is officially here and it is a great time to come out and pick some apples! We are now in the second half of the season, so we have put orange cones down all the open rows to mark where the apples begin. Make sure to walk all the way to the cones to find loaded trees that are ready to be picked.

Pumpkins are plentiful! We have an abundance of classic carving pumpkins ready to be found in the patch.

Tomatoes are overall still doing great. The Romas are plentiful and easy to pick. They are in the last ten rows of the Tomatoes section. The slicers are struggling with the rain we have gotten, but with some hunting can be found.

Flowers are doing well and are still available for u-pick until the first frost. We also have beautiful bouquets available at the stand Thursday -Sunday.

This is a great time of year to come out and pick apples for storage. Our storing apples are Braeburn, Gold Rush, Granny Smith, and Cripps Pink. Make sure to stock up while we still have them. For more info on proper storing, visit our website.

Halloween is almost here and we have a lot of fun activities to enjoy!

Start with a self-guided orchard tour! Our self-guided tour is set up and starts at the mailbox by the Apple stand. Grab a map and find eight stations in the orchard and read informational graphic signs to learn about the steps we take throughout the year to keep our orchard healthy.

Next, search the orchard for the Largest Apple and enter the second week of the Largest Apple Contest! Winner is announced on Monday and received TWO FREE BUCKETS of u-pick apples.

Third, rescue a pumpkin from our pumpkin patch to take home and carve. We have a huge selection of carving and decorative pumpkins to find in our traditional pumpkin patch! As well as gourds and squash.

Fourth, head out to the Tomato and Pepper rows and grab some tomatoes. They are plentiful now and will be ready to be picked until the first frost.

Finally, walk the u-pick flower rows. Pick an assortment of flowers to create your own bouquet. Or, pick up an already made bouquet at the stand. Our Sunflower Maze is in its last days. You can still walk the maze but you might not find sunflowers worth picking any longer.

Parking is free and we do not charge admission. We are excited to have some fun with you all this weekend on the farm!

LARGEST APPLE CONTEST WEEK #1 WINNER

Colin won week #1 with an apple weighing in at 1.3 pounds. It is the winner for week #1 and also the largest apple ever found in the orchard! Congratulations to Colin, they won two free buckets of u-pick apples. We start week #2 today, so make sure to stop in at the Apple Stand And have your largest apple weighed to enter week #2. Also, we were excited to discover that Cripps Pink were ready this morning so they have been added to the Ripe and Ready list! Cripps Pink are a great sweet-tart apple that are wonderful for snacking, baking, applesauce, and storing. We did a contest a few years back and made an apple crisp out of every variety in the orchard and blind tested them. The Cripps Pink were a unanimous winner!

GOLD RUSH, GRANNY SMITH and PUMPKINS

We have made it to the sweet spot of the 2024 Apple Season! We have both the early sweet apples still Ripe and Ready, and all of the winter apples are popping up as well. Right now, we have 10 different varieties to choose from! This week, Gold Rush and Granny Smith were added to the list.
Gold Rush is a very fun apple. It is a tart-sweet apple with a great crunch. It is great for snacking, baking, applesauce, storing, and our very favorite choice for apple cider. This apple almost tastes like it is carbonated. If you haven't ever tried one, we highly suggest you do.
Granny Smith is your classic green apple. A tart apple that sweetens when baked and makes the most amazing pies. These are great for storing as well.
Pumpkins are doing great! We still have a plentiful supply of both classic carving pumpkins and decorative. We have had a lot of people ask if we have good pumpkins for baking. We do! We have a small section of baking specific pumpkins to choose from in the patch. We have also found the blue and pink decorative pumpkins are wonderful for baking as well.
Flowers are still available for u-pick as well. The Sunflower Maze is in what will most likely be it's last weekend with blooms. Make sure to take a stroll through it before the flowers are all gone. We will continue to have the other u-pick flowers available until the first frost. Beautiful bouquets will also be available at the stand on weekends until the first frost.
Tomatoes and Peppers are in abundance! They are looking wonderful and are a quick pick with how loaded the vines are. These will continue to be ready in abundance until the first frost as well, which shouldn't happen for several more weeks.

LARGEST APPLE CONTEST

It is officially October! Which means, for the fifth year, it is time for our Largest Apple Contest! This year we will have a winner every week in the month of October! We will announce the winner of the week every Monday starting on October 7th. The contest winner every week will receive TWO FREE BUCKETS OF U-PICK APPLES! The contest is judged by weight of the apple and the apple has to have been found in our orchard. We have scales at the stand so make sure to stop and have your largest apple recorded to be entered to win the weekly prize. We will record the size of your apple, and your contact information so we can call the winner and let them know they won.

What an exciting morning! We tested our fall apples, and three varieties are ready: Fuji, Braeburn, and Rome Beauty!
Fuji apples are a favorite for their sweet, crunchy flavor. Perfect for snacking, baking, or applesauce. They can last 3 to 6 months when stored properly. Last year, they sold out in under five days, so grab some while you can!
Next is the stunning Rome Beauty, with its ruby red skin. Great for baking whole or in pies, these apples also store well.
Don't forget the Braeburn! Sweet and crunchy, they're perfect for eating fresh or baking and storing as well.
Our Pumpkin Patch is looking fantastic! Whether for carving, decorating, or baking, we have a great selection in all shapes and sizes. Enjoy the fun of picking your own right from the vine.
Tomatoes and Peppers are plentiful, and our u-pick flowers are doing great too! Don't miss a chance to stroll through the Sunflower Maze during your visit.
We're sold out of Bartlett Pears for the season but expect the Bosc Pears to be ready soon.

Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, and Bartlett Pears

This week we have added Golden Delicious and Red Delicious to the Ripe and Ready list.
Golden Delicious are one of the most underrated apples. Some people assume they will be soft and mushy since they have experienced that with store bought Golden Delicious. However, fresh off the tree, Golden's are fantastic! They are sweet, crunchy and juicy. They are also rated the second best apple for apple pies. Second only to the Granny Smith.
Red Delicious can sometimes get a bad wrap. But fresh off the tree, these apples are great! Crunchy and mild in flavor, they make a great snack.
We are almost sold out of both Honeycrisp and Jonagold. If you were still wanting some of these I would come pick soon!
We have our final picking of Bartlett Pears ready at the stand. We have both green and red available for we-pick.
Watermelons are still sweet and delicious, but this will most likely be our last weekend to purchase one.
Pumpkins are ready to be found in the pumpkin patch! We are so excited to see the exciting colors and shapes that are being found and brought to the stand. Gourds and squash are now ready as well. We have Butternut, Acorn, Spaghetti, and Delicatta squash available.
Tomatoes are full and ready to be picked! Our vines are loaded with ripe, red tomatoes. No more worrying if we are picked out.
The sunflower maze is still in full bloom and should last another 1-2 weeks. If you haven't taken a walk through the maze yet, make sure to check it out. Beautiful flower bouquets created by Little Sunshine Flower Farm are also available at the stand Thursday through Sunday.

The pumpkins are ready! We know it feels early, but this is a call to our die-hard pumpkin enthusiasts. Especially those of you who are after our sought after white and blue pumpkins. They are ready! The pumpkin patch is located by the tomato picking area. Just head towards the pumpkin banner and you will find the patch.
Pears are back! This week we have both green and red Bartlett's available already picked at the stand.
We have a good amount of watermelon still for we-pick and u-pick. We expect these to be done in about a week so make sure to grab one while you still can.
The sunflower maze is in full bloom and ready for you to come take a stroll through and even snip some blooms to take home. We also have our u-pick dahlias, cosmos and other flowers as well. Pre-made beautiful bouquets are available at the stand for the weekend.
Tomatoes are now plentiful! It is a great time to pick. The vines are loaded with tons of ripe red tomatoes. We have slicers, romas, and heirlooms. Jalapeno peppers are ready as well.
Cucumbers are just about picked out and looks to be almost done for the season. With some hunting, you might still be able to find some.

RUBY JON AND MELROSE
More additions to the Ripe and Ready list! Ruby Jon and Melrose have been added today.
Ruby Jon are a fun, sweet apple. They are a dark ruby red apple and our favorite choice for applesauce. If you leave a little bit of the skin in while cooking down your apples, it will turn the applesauce pink!
Melrose are a wonderful, versatile apple. One of our favorite picks for eating. They are great for eating, applesauce, and pies. They are crisp, juicy, and sweet. But not too sweet. A must try.
The Sunflower Maze is in full bloom and looking wonderful. We don't charge admission for anything at the orchard and that includes the Sunflower Maze! Take a stroll and enjoy the cool grass and lovely blooms. Sunflowers can be u-cut at our u-cut flower rate.
Watermelon are still being picked in the field. However, we don't expect these to be plentiful for much longer. Make sure to come pick some before they are gone for the year.

LIBERTY, SUNFLOWER MAZE, AND TOMATOES

The Ripe and Ready list is growing! This week we have added Liberty to the list.
Liberty are a deep red apple that are tart and crisp. They are our favorite choice for drying apples.
We are quickly going through our Honeycrisp crop this year, so make sure to visit us soon if you were still hoping to pick some of these this season.
Our Sunflower Maze is in full bloom! It is an actual maze this year with grass paths for easy strolling. The sunflowers are available for u-pick as well as the u-cut dahlias and other flowers. Pre-picked bouquets are also ready and available at the stand on weekends.
Watermelon are still plentiful in the field for u-pick and available at the stand for we-pick.
Tomatoes have loved the sunshine we have been having. This heat has ripened a lot of our Romas. The Slicers are ripening nicely too. The Peppers are in abundance and the Cucumbers are coming back as well.
Pears are temporarily sold out but we should have more ripe and ready the weekend of the 13th.

JONAGOLD, PEARS, AND SUNFLOWERS
The Jonagold have been added to the Ripe and Ready list! The Jonagold are sweet, crunchy, and we think they have a classic apple flavor. They are great for eating, applesauce, and pies.
Pears are ready! We are starting the season with our green Bartlett pears. They are pre-picked and ready at the stand.
Our Sunflower maze is just starting to bloom! And yes, we said MAZE! It has two entrances and lots of paths. Try and find the picnic table in the middle.
We are so happy to see soooo many buckets of tomatoes being picked this week. So many buckets in fact that we basically are picked out of ripe tomatoes! Even romas. In about a week this sunshine should ripen up all the green tomatoes we have on the vines. We will let you know when they are ready again. Cucumbers are in the same boat and should be ready again for picking in about a week. The peppers are still plentiful and ready for picking.
Pumpkins, Squash, and Gourds have about one more week and then will be ready as well.

QUICK UPDATE
What a wonderful weekend we had! Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed the orchard this weekend. We have gotten the message that you all are loving the cucumbers and tomatoes this year. As a result, our cucumbers are just about picked out for now, and the Roma tomatoes are still plentiful but the ripe slicers are just about picked out too. We will have a LOT more ripening soon, but the cucumbers and slicers need about a week to ripen.
The Apples, Watermelon, Flowers, and Peppers are still ripe and ready to be picked.

The Ripe And Ready list has had some exciting additions this week! Honeycrisp, Ruby Mac, and Golden Delicious Smoothie have been added. Watermelon are also ready to be picked!
Honeycrisp are a sweet, crunchy, delicious apple. Great for eating and baking. These sell out fast every year, so make sure to come soon for this popular apple.
Ruby Mac is a beautiful ruby red apple that has a great crunch and a super fun sweet flavor with a bit of tartness. They are wonderful to add for eating, baking, and applesauce. We especially love to mix them with any sweet apple to bring a complex flavor to our sauces and pies.
Smoothies are an early ripening Golden Delicious. They have all those fun qualities of a Golden Delicious, sweet, crunchy, great for applesauce and pies. They just pop up early so we don’t have to wait until the end of September to start enjoying them.
Watermelon are ripe and wonderful! We have our classic seedless variety again this year for u-pick, and will also have a couple varieties of our seeded pollinators pre-picked at the stand.
Tomatoes, Peppers, and Cucumbers are still plentiful and ready to be picked. The Roma tomatoes are especially plentiful in the Tomato section.
Flowers are looking lovely and available for u-pick as well as beautiful bouquets at the stand on weekends.
Pumpkins and Sunflowers should be ready in about two weeks.

GALA ARE READY!
Thank you all so much for coming with such excitement to the orchard this week! We have never seen our Gravensteins fly off the trees so fast. They are practically done with maybe just a few left to be found within the farthest trees.
We are thrilled to announce that our Gala are now ready! They are the perfect size for a lunchbox for back to school lunches. They are sweet and crisp and they are outstanding for eating, and also make great applesauce and pies.
Cucumbers and Peppers are plentiful, and more and more tomatoes are ripening every day.
U-pick flowers are ready with a mix of zinnias, dahlias, and cosmos. The sunflowers this year will be in a maze and available for u-cut the first week in September.

Apple Season Starts Monday, August 12

Apple season is here! We are starting with our Gravensteins. Gravensteins are a highly sought after traditional apple that are not known for their beauty, even seeming a bit ugly to us. But, boy do they make wonderful applesauce and pies. They go super fast every year so make sure to head out to the orchard soon if you were hoping to pick some this year. Gala should be popping up soon as well and will be quickly followed by Honeycrisp and Ruby Mac.
Tomatoes, Peppers, and Cucumbers are ready as well! We grew even more peppers and tomatoes this year and planted them sooner so we have a good amount of ripe and ready to be picked available now.
Watermelon, Sunflowers, and Pumpkins will be ready closer to the beginning of September.

2024 Season Is Coming Soon
August is almost here and we are eagerly awaiting the start of our 2024 Apple Season! The Apples are looking wonderful but just need a little more time to ripen. The Gravensteins are looking great and should be ready to start picking in a couple weeks.
Our Tomatoes and Peppers are also looking fantastic and should be ready to start picking at the same time as the Apples. So just a couple weeks!
This year we had a little extra space and decided to try Cucumbers! We grew two rows of pickling Cucumbers at the very front of our Tomato area. A new crop always means learning new things! This year we learned that we planted the Cucumbers just a little early for our schedule. That means we have a limited supply of our Cucumbers ready right now! So if you are ready for some pickling, we have some ready to be picked. We are not open for the season yet so they will run on a self-serve basis with payment being exact change or check dropped in the office door.
Watermelon are coming along and should be ripening in early September along with our Pumpkins.
We will send out posts here, as well as on all of our social media outlets and our newsletter, as soon as we know our official opening date. Can't wait to see you all and get the season started!

Our new addition this year is Cucumbers! We thought it would be fun to try our hand at cucumbers in our two extra rows this year. They are canning cucumbers and should be ready at the same time as the tomatoes! They will be trellised just like the tomatoes for easy picking.

Our tomato walls are loving this sunshine! We are going to be loaded with tomatoes in no time.

What a welcome sight the sunshine has been. We are hard at work in the middle of pruning season. It takes us three months to hand prune the orchard. Here is a row that shows how heavy we prune in the winter. One side is nice and trimmed up while the other shows how long and shaggy the limbs are before we get started.
