Join us in welcoming the newest member of our Team of Veterinarians: Kai DeVoglaer, DVM! Dr. DeVoglaer is a 2023 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is not only an excellent veterinarian, she is a fantastic horseman and rider! While Dr. DeVoglaer will be primarily stationed in the Austin area, over the next few months she will be working alongside Dr. Stone while she gets to know our wonderful clientele and their fabulous horses!

We are growing! Good news - as many of you know we are sharing time in both the Austin and Houston areas, with an occasional stop in the Metroplex. Our team of Doctors is expanding (more on that later). We are adding to our commitment in the Austin area by increasing our availability. It seems that we are still recovering from Hurricane Beryl, and while we are back in the office (with power) our office phone line is still down. Dont’t worry - we can be reached at 281-743-1726 by call or text! Our office phones should be functioning by the end of day. If you do call our regular number, the answering service will forward us messages.

UPDATE: As of this morning, Wednesday July 10th, Katy Equine Clinic is still without power. If you have an emergency, please call our office and our answering service will get a hold of our doctors for you.

This past weekend Dr William Stone had the honor of presenting at the Texas Veterinary Medical Association in Dallas. His points of discussion included developing an intuitive strategy to performance evaluation, tactics for diagnostic anesthesia, and imaging decisions based on diagnostics. He went on to lead a useful dialogue regarding orthobiologics and regenerative therapy. This included mechanisms of action and reliable strategies for use in the equine patient. Power point slides are available to those interested.

🩺TECHNICIAN POSITION AVAILABLE: Katy Equine Clinic is seeking an enthusiastic, trustworthy, and dedicated Equine Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant. Full-time position, primarily weekday hours.

The ideal candidate will be someone who comfortably and confidently handles horses and who will enjoy working in our exciting, fast-paced environment. Our home-base is located just west of Houston, Texas. Our Clinic fosters a team culture where the patient's well-being and care come first. At Katy Equine Clinic, technicians play an important role at our facility and are essential for exceptional patient care. The position includes a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to, assisting veterinarians with both in-hospital and farm-call patient care that may include preparing and administering medications, performing basic lab tests, patient examinations, assisting in the taking of radiographs, performing ultrasounds, and giving injections. Technicians prepare vehicles and the clinic with necessary equipment and supplies required for daily appointments, stock supplies, provide aide during surgery and other essential duties. LVT certification is not required. A minimum of two (2) years of horse experience is required. Competitive pay and benefits offered to qualified candidates. Please join us in welcoming our new Associate Veterinarian, Dr. Reilly Wren! Dr. Wren grew up in Dallas, Tx and has a passion for performance horse medicine. She got her start riding event horses and traveled around the country training the young horses produced by her family’s breeding operation. In college her riding goals shifted, and she competed on the IHSA team for Randolph College in Virginia. After completing her undergraduate degree Reilly moved back to Texas to attend vet school at Texas A&M. Here her background in sport horses and barn management turned into a passion for sports medicine and general practice. Dr. Reilly believes that great performance starts with good management and she enjoys helping owners find the strategies that work best for their barn and horses.

Not closing, just relocating! The development of the land surrounding our Woods Road location has become undeniable, and with an increase in truck traffic and growing concern for equine safety that this brings, we no longer feel an equine clinic is suitable for the property. We value the relationships we’ve built over the years and have no intention of leaving the area! We will not have any interruptions in service and look forward to growing our relationship with all of you! Please, stay in touch - we will keep you updated!

We’re off to the races, the Breeder’s Cup World Championships that is! Dr. Stone is in Lexington, Kentucky at Keeneland where he is working as part of the veterinary team doing pre-race and race day exams. Each horse is thoroughly examined daily to ensure their health and welfare. Good luck to all horses and their connections this weekend!!
