Did you know your pet can develop Diabetes just like a person?! Diabetes can occur secondary to your pet being over weight. Studies show your pet can live longer if they stay in their ideal weight bracket by 1-2 YEARS! Regulating your pets caloric intake and exercise is very important to keep them healthier longer!

An ounce of prevention.... please talk to your veterinarian about the many benefits of heartworm prevention and other products: flea and tick control. There are multiple parasites that can be transmitted from pets to people and putting your pet on prevention can drastically minimize these risks. Till next time, stay healthy and wise!

Be penny-wise not pound foolish! Give your pets monthly heartworm preventive or one of the longer-term injections for dogs.

Heartworms are transmitted by Mosquitos... and yes indoor only dogs and cats are at risk! Please talk to your veterinarian about either oral or injectable preventative options.

Wow just learned this. Very scary! Please stay informed about all the products Xylitol ("Birch Sugar") is added to... chewing gum, peanut butter, liquid medications to name a few. Read labels and get advice from your family veterinarian before administering any over the counter medication to your furbaby!

Holidays with alot of baking are around the corner! Many food items and non-food items can be harmful if not life-threatening. From knives with turkey drippings, metal cans thrown in the garbage, to the left over bones or food with seasonings or additives: garlic, onion, chocolate, avocado, pork, fat or fatty/spicy foods. Please be cautious and careful during this time to guard your trash cans and educate your guests to not feed your pets. Keeping them safe can be tricky with many guests but being aware of what can harm them can help prevent a trip to the ER or worse a life threatening outcome. HAPPY HUMP DAY! FYI.... Have you ever heard of xylitol?? It is a sugar substitute. It used to be only in health food stores. Now it's found in many stores in items: gum, peanut butter and more! It is TOXIC to cats and especially dogs! It will significantly lower your pet's blood sugar causing seizures and can cause kidney failure! Please read your ingredients in ALL your food items & keep your pets away from your candy! Any ingestion seek medical attention for your pets immediately!
