As of this week we now have TURKEY eggs!! They are so pretty!! Enjoy some Turkey egg knowledge ➡️ Turkey eggs are edible and similar to chicken eggs, but larger, richer, and slightly harder to crack. Here’s a comparison:
🥚Size: About 50% larger than chicken eggs, weighing around 90 grams compared to 50 grams.
🥚Shell: Can be white, cream, brown, or speckled, with a thicker shell and membrane. The pointier end is more noticeable than a chicken egg.
🥚Yolk and white: A 1:1 ratio of yolk to white, with a larger yolk.
🥚Taste: Similar to chicken eggs, but some say turkey eggs are better.
🥚Nutrition: Almost double the calories, fat, and protein of chicken eggs.
🥚Availability: Rare in stores and restaurants due to several factors, including cost and production time. Why? Because Turkeys are seasonal layers. Who wants to try them??? 🦃🥚❤️

Sharing a few moments from the last few weeks on the farm. Here’s an update: the last few weeks have had a few highs but also a few lows too. 😟 We lost approximately 5 of our resident chickens. Two were older hens that kept company with Jumper and they were significantly older than most of the others in our flock. It’s possible the weather changes might have affected them. And we found out a few of our silkies had a parasite issue. It’s now being treated but it sadly claimed 3 of our smaller silkie chickens. Nanners, Cinaman and one of the smaller hens that hatched from Gulfside Elementary last May. We’ve been told it comes with the territory of having a farm and caring for many animals. Please know that we try to never take our ‘healthy animals’ for granted. 🐓❤️

Found two of my big goldfish laying in the dirt seemingly dead so I gave them fishy CPR and then stuffed them into the spawning mops... To be continued....
