Ever since I could remember my passion was horses! If I had to volunteer to be around them, I would. Even if I had to ride my bike a few miles to get there. My dream has come true in having my own horses and now being able to give back in fulfilling the passion of horses in hearts of horse lovers. So thankful to the Lord for allowing it to happen, yet humbled in learning the big responsibilities of this happening. 🥰

It took me quite a while to find a photo to share for this message. Why? Well I was flipping through all of my “Appy Trails” album where I keep my pics of things to do with Appy Trails and I didn’t find much that coincided with this time of year because most horse people know and agree that horse keeping isn’t “pretty” January through spring. Unless you’ve spent a fortune in mud control or the ground is frozen and snow covered, most horses and horse facilities this time of year are messy.

January this year was especially ugly. After a dry spell last year that killed a lot of vegetation in my dry lot and created a lot of dust, and then a snow and freeze in early January, followed by a thaw and 9 days of rain, my pasture was very ugly. Finally we are experiencing dry weather and my mood flipped with just that promise that the sun will come out tomorrow.

But how do we survive the messy seasons of life? If you are waiting for life to not be messy to enjoy it then you are definitely going to be seasonally depressed. We have to get to a point where we accept that the messy seasons are just part of the cycle and try not to compare it to the sunny and 75 days. If you look at it from a standpoint that you are blessed to be living a life you chose and thank God that “you get to” experience the breaking ice, and the foot of mud and the days and days of messy stall cleaning, then you will find joy in even the messy seasons.

I started reading the Bible again in January. I’m to Exodus where Joseph is dropped in a pit by his brothers due to jealousy, and then sold into slavery, gained the favor of the Pharaoh, and rose to command to be second in all of Egypt.

Genesis 50 : 19. but Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place? 20As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. 21So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them

Joseph understood that to get to the end result, God had put into action a plan that had messy seasons. He remained faithful through those trials and was rewarded with the life he had dreamed. If we never encountered the trials we would never seek Him or go to him in prayers asking for Him to be a part of our lives.

I finally settled on this photo that my aunt took of me and my hubby on the trails at Brown county in mid February 2017. It was a rare warm and 70 degrees. But I am reminded not every February will look like this but even during the messy seasons I should be thankful that we get to experience all these beautiful days. February is such a short month and we have much to look forward to! Trail riding Tuesday this week will be a poll! Crossing off a couple bucket list destinations hopefully and looking for recommendations! Until then, Appy Monday and best wishes for a great week!
