Thought I would practice my braiding skills, and help keep Cee Cee keep cool by getting the hair off of her. She was walking around grazing the whole time so not my best work but not bad for not braiding in years. Now we will just have to see how long it stays in.
Also ignore the stumps and tore up ground in the back. The horses insisted on grazing where Aaron was digging up stumps πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

With 10+ inches of rain in the first week of July we aren't dry but we also aren't under water. Our waterfall was working overtime to drain it all this week.

The first storm πŸŒ€ of the season is here. With all of our trees I just don't feel comfortable locking them in but I feel bad locking them out too. Luckily we have stalls with multiple entry/exits so we can just secure the doors open and they can have options. They probably won't use them but they have the option.

First time back in a jump saddle after my injury. My leg felt strong and secure but I definitely need to still work on stretching the achilles tendons to get my heel down further. We popped over some small jumps, maybe 2'3", and CeeCee was calm and steady.

Jager got to go on his first outing today. It was just a quick trip to see how he was. He was a little nervous and super interested in all her gorgeous horses. I think he is still a little too nervous to have a productive lesson off property so we will have to do a few more outings to just go graze to get him more comfortable off property. I'm so thankful to have a trainer around the corner who will allow me to trailer over and get him comfortable first. I'm so excited to get him going but want to make sure I don't push him too far out of his comfort zone. Slow and safe!!!

Jager is coming along nicely. He has such a smooth trot and canter it is so easy to ride. He is a little behind the leg but when he does move up he accepts contract with the bit really well. It's about time to take him off property.

Yesterday when I was riding my husband yells out "put you shoulders back, you look like a hunchback" I hadn't realized how tight I was across my shoulders. I might need an actual parachute to fix this πŸ˜…

To keep from slumping or slouching while riding...

Imagine that you have an open parachute strapped to your back. The pull of the air in the parachute keeps your shoulder blades together and tall. This imagery will help you maintain your upper-body position as your horse moves underneath you.

Working on a new trick with Jager. He is pretty smart and picks things up really quick.

I am absolutely terrible at videoing while working a horse and when I thought I was getting good video I had actually just taken a picture. Here is what I did get though. We have been working on not invading my space and stopping before he gets to me. He is also doing walk, trot, canter, and halt at liberty on a circle in both directions. He really enjoys being back to work. I'm hoping to be able to get on him soon but want my ankle at least 90% back to normal first. In the meantime he is learning lots of things on the ground that should translate to in the saddle.

It has been almost 5 months to the day since I have ridden. I had to drop my stirrups 2 holes and struggled to pick up the stirrup with my right foot but we made it work. CeeCee was so good. She did not enjoy the photo shoot but was really happy to be back to work. She offered one of the best walks I have ever had on her. I need time to strengthen my ankle and legs so I plan on a month of just walk work, which will allow me to build her up slowly and correctly. I am so happy to be back, I have missed this view so much.

We are expecting the worst of the storm over night so Aaron secured all the outside doors open with ratchet straps and inside connecting gates with bungies so they can easily pass from stall to stall and have the option to come under cover. Jager usually prefers inside. CeeCee usually prefers outside.

In the quiet of the early morning CeeCee and I had a moment. She had been very weary of the wheelchair but today she dropped her head down in my lap and let me rub and scratch her for 10 minutes. If you know her this is very unlike her. I have missed her so much and I think, just maybe, she has actual missed me too. I can't wait until I can get back to work with her.

It's been one year since this guy got dropped off for us. He is just the sweetest most attention loving guy ever. Unfortunately this has been an insanely busy year and he keeps getting put on the back burner. I've only actually even sat on him 3 times. He has learned a lot about being good for general barn care though. Seeing this picture one year later is just the motivation I needed to make the time to get him going.

Brooksville Fl. Offering retirement board for $350, I also have layup, rehab, and training board available. Newly bought property we are improving with a three stall main barn and 4 stall pole barn. Board to include grain and hay 2x a day, and turned out for about 20 hours a day depending on weather. I feed a 12% protein, 16% fiber, 13% fat feed for my hard keepers but will adjust feed for each horses individually needs. My hay is usually either O&A or T&A depending on what looks better. Water and feed buckets cleaned daily. Stall picked after every use. Blankets and fly spray applied as needed. Fan in stalls for warm weather. The horse will be treated as one of my own and washed and have feet picked. Will hold for farrier and vet as long as it works with my schedule. I can also give medicine and shots if needed. Currently have about 6 acres of pasture but we are clearing and fencing more. Currently no arena but there is a nice grassy area to ride and I have a few jumps. An hour south of Ocala or north Tampa. PM me for more information.

Slower up front, faster and more through behind, and more consistent contact. Cee Cee is so much work to ride but it starting to actually look decent. It would be nice if i remembered to look up instead of at her beautiful thick mane πŸ˜… Oh amd if we could stop having heat indexes over 100 degrees for half the day that would be great.
