With 10+ inches of rain in the first week of July we aren't dry but we also aren't under water. Our waterfall was working overtime to drain it all this week.
CeeCee knows whenever you see someone backing something up its best to come offer a hand regardless of whether they want it or not.
After lunging I did some ground work getting Jager to step under and away with lighter and lighter pressure. He does really well except that he likes to always have his head in my face and needs something in his mouth at all times. We are working on that too.
We did a 3 day event of lessons. Dressage Friday, stadium Saturday, and XC Sunday. I also decided to stay in Ocala Saturday night with CeeCee so she had her first overnight with me and Jager had to stay home alone. Everyone did great with minimal stress. I really need to work on sitting up and not letting her rely on my to hold her up so much. We have some things we can work on at home. Overall I'm really happy with how she handled everything.
It took a few days but we have worked out a system for when she needs oral medication. I rub by her mouth until she tells me she is ready by opening her mouth for me. I can then squirt it in. She is very quick to feel trapped and having an extra person to hold her or even be near her makes her anxious. Now I'm going to need a vet to teach me to give shots and pull blood so we can avoid the tranquilizers and fighting for that too.
We have not really been jumping since I am mostly riding alone but today I had someone here. We kept it low, 2'3", and did a short bending 4 stride with a rollback to a bending 3 stride. It was not perfect but she really tried and listened to my leg and seat. She is so long those rollback are hard for her and I really should have lifted my hands more to support her but I'm happy with what we got having not jumped in so long, and only having a someone to video for just a minute. We still need a lot of strengthening at the canter so she doesn't get so strung out. I've also been doing a lot of ab work for myself to be able to use that to slow her instead of the reins. Its a work in progress but I think it is progress. #rideagiraffe
