Franklin County Indiana Humane Society

Franklin County Indiana Humane Society We are a 501.c.3 nonprofit volunteer organization providing assistance for needy animals in FC. We'd love to have you join us.
(44)

We are proud to be Franklin County's oldest nonprofit group working on the behalf of area animals. Our volunteers have been working together with the community since 1976 to provide a better outcome for the stray animals who make their way to our area shelter and rescues. Our building doubles as a site for THREE low-cost/high quality spay/neuter transports and for adoption events. The focus of our

organization is to reduce the number of animals born in Franklin County, to improve the outcome of those who make their way to the shelters, and to provide educational resources to the community we share. Since we receive NO county funding, fundraising and donations are how we keep our doors open. Your financial support goes 100% to support our mission since we have NO paid employees. Volunteers who have a heart for helping animals are always welcome!❤

What a special day! Today, we remembered and honored Louie Fasbinder. The Franklin County Indiana Humane Society shared today with Louie's sister, daughter and lots of friends and supporters. We appreciate all who made this day possible to continue Louie's dedication to the animals of Franklin County.

Thanks especially to Brandy Todd who pulled this benefit together and to those community members and businesses who contributed to being hole sponsors and offered raffle baskets. Also, a big thank you to the Sons of the Ameican Legion and the Auxiliary for the boxed lunch. As always, Brook Hill Golf Club provided the perfect venue.

THANKS LOUIE ~ It was a beautiful day!!!

💩 We are in desperate need of litter! 💩

We’ve been running at full capacity (over sixty cats/kittens) for the past few months and have been struggling to keep up our litter inventory to meet these needs. If you are able to donate a bag or two we’d really appreciate it.

Any brand of clumping cat litter works! We have several options for donations:

😸You can purchase litter at Pet Supplies Plus - Harrison, OH and have the store put to the side in our name and one of our volunteers will deliver it to our building.

😸 Purchase at the store of your choice and drop it off at our building, 107 High Street.

😸Purchase from our Amazon Wish List

😸Purchase from our Chewy Wish List

Thanks for sharing to spread the word and donating if you can. We really appreciate the support!

July is Lost Pet Prevention Month!
If you're on Facebook at all you've likely noticed the amount of lost/found pet posts. Our local shelters are overflowing with unclaimed animals. There are simple steps to implement ahead of time that will help you reunite with your pet in the event they are lost.
First and foremost we recommend a microchip. These will be available during our upcoming low cost vaccination clinic on October 13, 2024 in Metamora. Keep an eye on our page for more information as the date comes closer.
If your pet already has a microchip, login and make sure that your address and phone number are up to date. So many times a microchip scan yields old information that is not helpful in reuniting a pet with their family.
Finally, a good old fashioned pet id tag can be helpful. As a service to the community we are offering the opportunity to order a personalized pet id tag online. The cost is $10. Order your choice of a large or small tag (depending on the size of your pet). Choose from a variety of colors and designs. Personalize the tag with your info. Once the tag is completed by one of our volunteers, it will be mailed to your home. Use the order form link below. Orders must be paid in advance using Venmo or PayPal. Payment links are on the order form as well.
Thanks for sharing and ordering!

Our Story

We are a small town organization ready to make a BIG difference! We are located in the town of Brookville, Indiana. We are not the County Pound. Our organization is completely comprised of volunteers. The FCHS has no paid staff and we receive no financial support from the state or local government. Every dollar that you donate to the FCHS goes directly to improving the lives of animals in our community. We are considered a rescue, and not an “intake” shelter. The cats that we house come from the county, as well as cats from the community that are sick or injured. It is part of our mission to find the right forever home for every animal that we encounter in our facility!

We are pleased that our shelter space doubles as a site for monthly spay/neuter transports and for adoption events. Our primary focus is to reduce the number of animals born in Franklin County, reduce the number of animals entering local shelters, and eliminate the practice of killing healthy animals for convenience. We strive to educate our community and improve the quality of the lives of animals within Franklin County and beyond.

Our monthly spay/neuter is through UCAN in Cincinnati. Each month UCAN comes to the Humane Society to pick up pets to transport to and from their facility for surgery (transportation is free of charge). The surgery cost for dogs is $90.00. Cat surgery is $45.00 and rabies vaccination is $10.00. Please call the scheduling hotline at 513-762-0130 to get your pet registered for the next available date!

If you can support us in any way we would be ever so grateful. Ways you can help could include (but are not limited to): volunteering, adopting, donating supplies, donating money to defray adoption costs and of course spreading the word about our mission. We are small, but together we are mighty!
