Gearing up for the Shed Hunting class starting this week with refresher practice for our demo dog Storm. Watch in this short clip for the abrupt directional change he makes when he gets into the scent cone of the antler. So excited to work with a new group of students here on our farm!
You never know until you try and these students wanted to try! All 4 dogs came directly to the owners when called!! Awesome job everyone 😁
Quick little video of 2 of our students tonight at the Canine Good Citizen class. Proud of how well these pups are doing!
We like to challenge our students in the Canine Good Citizen class to go above and beyond what they will do for the test. These 3 did an awesome job tonight!!!
Some fine work by the Canine Good Citizen students last evening with group Stays!!

WEEK 20 Challenge: Take a couple minutes daily to train with your dog. You can always work to proof a behavior, improve a behavior, or teach a new one. Your dog will find this time spent with you rewarding and it helps keeps the bond strong. Jake and Delilah are improving on their Stay command so that they can remain in place while I inspect a hit site for clues when we are working wounded game tracks this fall.
WEEK 13 Challenge: Teach your dog to jump over your leg. Teaching your dog simple tricks is both fun and rewarding. And it can help burn off some of that excess mental energy too!!!
WEEK 10 Challenge: Ask your dog to sit in new/different places. For example, in the video I asked Delilah to sit in the car when we pulled off the road while on our way home from a class. Some other ideas you could try - Sit on a bed, in a tub, or on a rock - basically anywhere you have never asked your dog to sit before.
WEEK 9 Challenge: See if your dog can take a non-verbal hint. Have treats in both of your hands. Turn away from your dog and put both hands down by your sides. Look at one of your hands and see if the dog will go to it. Reward with a treat if it does. Wiggle your fingers if your dog is having trouble figuring the new game out.
WEEK 6 Challenge: Teach your dog a simple trick. Teaching simple tricks is easy and fun. See in the video how I start teaching Delilah to Spin.
WEEK 5 Challenge: Will your dog lay down on command when you are facing away from it? Try and see what happens.
WEEK 2 Challenge: After the holidays we could all use a little exercise so let's do some Push-ups with our dogs! The video demonstrates what exactly a push-up is. How many will your dog do in a row? Give your answer in the comments.
