We switched things up this rotation, and got to have a 4th year student from the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine woth us. Delainee, a West Texas native, is originally from Seminole. Upon high school graduation she completed her undergraduate studies at West Texas A&M then moved to College Station.

Delainee’s advice to owners is to always vaccinate and use proper flea, tick and heartworm prevention. Stating it is always easier to prevent than to treat.

Her favorite medicine to practice is large animal medicine, she especially enjoys working with cattle. Her favorite animal is the fallow deer, and her favorite Dr. Jim quote is “No, thank you”

Shout out to her dog Gipsey, she got to hang out with us for a few days and she was the goodest girl 🐾

We are loving having all of these externs from the Texas Tech School Veterinary of Veterinary Medicine. This round we got to work with Heidi Roman-Petroski all the way from Clovis NM. She completed her undergraduate studies at Eastern New Mexico University before starting her journey as a Raider Vet.

When asked what advice she had for pet owners she had a couple of pointers, the first being to spay and neuter if you don’t plan on breeding. The second being, do research on animals before getting them. She said this is an important step to pet ownership because it will allow for a better understanding of certain needs and special care a pet may need.

Her favorite type of medicine to practice is both small animal surgery and emergency medicine, and she excels at both!

We asked her what her favorite animal is and she responded with “That’s like asking me who my favorite kid is!” She said she truly loves all animals and that picking a favorite is near impossible. Her favorite Dr. Jim quote is “It’s your world we’re all just living in it”

Please join us in wishing “Dr. Heidi” the best in her career!

Big or small we love them all!! 🎀

This rotation we were honored to host Emily Lashaway! Hailing from Springtown, Texas Emily completed her undergraduate work at West Texas A&M, then became Raider Vet.

Emily is very passionate about bovine medicine, cow/calf operations, and reproduction. She is very excited to begin her career in Montrose, Colorado where she will get to put all of her cattle knowledge to work!

She stresses the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Stating that it prevents unwanted litters, certain types of cancers, as well as a number of other problems.

Her favorite animal was an easy answer: Cattle, specifically beef cattle. Her favorite Doctor Jim quote was the ever popular “…Do I have a deal for you”

We have enjoyed having Emily around and wish her the very best with her future endeavors! 🩺🐮

We had the pleasure of hosting another 4th year Veterinary student these past 4 weeks!

Bailee comes to us all the way from Longview Texas. She completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University, then decided to become a Red Raider for vet school. Her favorite type of medicine is internal medicine, and she was a rockstar at small animal surgery this rotation.

Bailee’s advice to owners is the saying, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound in cure.” Translation: Stay on top of your preventative medicine!

Her favorite animal was an easy choice for her, a capybara. Her favorite Dr. Jim quote is “I don’t know I just work here” which is always followed up with the answer to whatever question is being asked!

We will miss having Bailee around but we are so excited to see where she ends up. Happy trails to the future Dr. Holes!

RaiderVet Bailee Holes has seen firsthand all the exciting opportunities a mixed animal practice can bring.

She is at Terry County Veterinary Hospital in Brownfield, Texas performing surgeries, palpating cows and so much more.
