Pizza Pasta Recipe 🍕🍝
Ingredients:
12 oz (about 3 cups) pasta (rotini, penne, or your favorite pasta)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 lb Italian sausage (or ground beef, optional)
1/2 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup pepperoni slices (or any favorite pizza toppings)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt & pepper to taste
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves (optional for garnish)
Instructions:
Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Cook the sausage: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage (or ground beef) and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Sauté the veggies: In the same skillet, add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Combine everything: Add the cooked sausage back into the skillet. Pour in the pizza sauce and sprinkle in the oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Add the pasta & toppings: Stir in the cooked pasta, followed by the pepperoni slices. Mix everything together until well combined.
Add cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan over the top. Cover the skillet and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
Tips:
Add extra toppings: Feel free to add olives, green peppers, or even a drizzle of balsamic glaze for added flavor.
Make it vegetarian: Skip the meat and load up on extra veggies for a delicious vegetarian version.
