Not only is she beautifully gaited, she is HANDY broke! She’s such a pleasure to ride! 😍

“There’s something different about the way a good mare connects with her rider. It’s special. Like an unspoken agreement. Once a mare chooses you as her person, it’s like she has an instinct to protect you, to fight for you. It’s almost as if she takes ownership of you.

I believe the good mares have a deep sense of intuition. They can read your mind. They know what you’re thinking even before you do. The good mares I know breathe fire in the face of challenge and then somehow, miraculously, know to quiet themselves when a timid child is plopped on their back for a pony ride.

They are clever, cunning and calculated, which can be your greatest enemy or your saving grace. The good mares I know do not tolerate egotistical riding. They do not tolerate force. They demand tact, finesse and emotional control. But once you have won a mare’s heart, you have won all of her. In exchange for your best—and nothing less—she will give you everything.”

I just realized this video never posted…

This was a couple weeks ago, this mare was just beginning her bridle work on the ground.

This exercise saves so much time and miscommunication in the saddle for these young horses! I also love to use it when a horse has been off for a bit and needs a little refresher before getting on 🥰

So begins the time in a young horse’s life where lots of weird things get done to them to help bring them along! 🤪

This mare is such a darling! The girls have named her Barbie because she’s such a doll! Shes so gentle, sweet, not spooky, and definitely more woah than go, I just KNOW someone is desperate to find a mare like her! She will be cheap, only asking what I have in her because she does have damage to her wind pipe that makes her breathe loud. Her lungs are clear and doesn’t affect her at all for light exercise and trail riding. She actually really seems to enjoy it and spending time with people who she can tell care about her 💕 We will be picky where she goes! She has been through enough heartbreak ❤️‍🩹
