Is your pet blowing their coat? Are you constantly finding fur bunnies around the house? It may be time to bring your dog in for a Shed Release! This add-on package for baths + brush and bath + trim appointments is fantastic for double coated long-coated breeds like German Shepherds, medium-coated breeds like Corgis, as well as short-coated breeds like Chihuahuas.

This package includes a specialized de-shedding shampoo and conditioner to help release old undercoat and condition both layers of the coat. We also take extra time brushing out their undercoat with specialized tools to get as much fur off before coming home to you!

An ideal grooming schedule for double-coated breeds is every 4-6 weeks to keep your pet's undercoat healthy and avoid matting or compacting in longer furry clients.

The life cycle of a hair follicle before it is shed out is approximately 21 days-that's why you may notice more fur floating around about a month after grooming.

In addition, approximately twice per year, double-coated breeds shed more heavily as an attempt to thin out their coat before summer, and again around fall to grow in a thicker coat for winter temperatures. That is why it is important to keep your dog in a schedule to keep them as comfortable as possible and help in their temperature regulation with the seasons.

How often do dogs need their nails trimmed? It Depends!

For puppies, ideally a 3-4 week schedule to acclimate them to a positive nail trim experience--they will need this done multiple times throughout their lifetime, so starting early will set them up for success.

Dogs who are primarily indoors walking on soft terrain such as carpet, grass, linoleum, a 4-5 week schedule will keep their nails at a comfortable length to walk around and avoid the risk of getting snagged in blankets, carpets, or breaking a nail while romping in the backyard.

Active dogs taking consistent adventures walking on rough terrains such as gravel, asphalt, and sidewalks often file their nails naturally and may often go 6-8 weeks between nail trims. A preventative nail trim is ideal to check for any nail splitting, trimming dewclaws which may grow more quickly due to their accessory use, and making sure their nail length is good for the activities/sports they are involved in.

Senior dogs may need more frequent trims between 4-5 weeks to maintain as healthy joint health as possible. In addition, adding a paw sanitary trim will help give them the best traction on their paw pads when getting up and down on slippery surfaces.

Routine nail trimming is a proactive approach to keep your pet healthy, active, and comfortable! We accept walk-ins for a la carte nail trims 7 days a week, and nail trims are included in all our core service offerings.
