Pets can feel the changes when back to school season comes around. 🎒
Routines change, humans are away from home for longer hours, and that can lead to stress!

Signs of stress and separation anxiety for both dogs and cats may include:
- Excessive vocalization (barking, howling, meowing)
- Destructive behavior (chewing, digging, scratching)
- Inappropriate urination or defecation
- Changes in appetite or sleep patterns
- Excessive licking or grooming
- Pacing, panting, and restlessness

If your pet is struggling, we are here to help, with multiple tools to ease their worries.

Keep an eye out for signs of stress, and give us a call at 207-729-4164 if anything seems off.
Have a great school year everyone! 📚🐾

Today is National Check the Chip Day! Microchips may be tiny, but have a big job!
Check the Chip Day aims at not only encouraging pet owners to microchip their pets, but to also check and update the registration information, ensuring it's accurate and up-to-date. 🐾

- Microchips provide a reliable and permanent way to identify pets, **significantly** increasing the likelihood of reunification if they become lost.
- Microchipping is a simple, quick, and relatively painless, similar to getting a vaccination. Especially with cookies involved!
- No maintenance required. Once implanted, microchips don't require maintenance or replacement. Just keep your information updated!

If you don't know your pet's microchip number, or you want to consider getting your pet chipped, we're happy to help! Call 297-729-4164 with questions or to schedule 😸

We’re proud to be AAHA Accredited—and we don’t take that title lightly! 🐾

Being AAHA-accredited means we have voluntarily met the strict standards of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). This accreditation signifies our dedication and strive to excellence in all aspects of patient care, safety, facilities, and services.

Only 15% of animal hospitals across the U.S. and Canada earn this distinction. That means we meet 900+ standards of veterinary excellence in patient care, safety, and client service.

Your pet deserves the best—and we’re committed to delivering just that. ❤️

☀ WEATHER ALERT ☀
Dangerous heat and humidity coming this week! Lots of sunshine expected with temps in the 80s and 90s.
Heat stroke can become deadly in as soon as 10 minutes. Dogs most at risk include those with short noses, those with heavy coats, and puppies or seniors. 🐾

We recommend pets skip outdoor activities like hikes, social gatherings, dog-friendly restaurants, and car rides during these extremely hot days.

- DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS IN THE CAR — even with the AC running, even for just a minute, even with the windows cracked — Cars shut off, ACs fail, and overheating can happen when you don't expect it!
- Keep pets inside during the day. Take short walks early morning or evening when temps cool
- Provide plenty of water and shade

Signs of heat stroke:
- Heavy panting, drooling, trouble breathing
- Bright red or purple gums
- Racing heart rate
- Severe lethargy
- Vomiting
