She is about 30lbs

Speckles came in as a stray that spent months of her short life as a stray on the streets. She had some little community from a local business that would feed her daily and gained her trust.

She isn't doing well with the shelter environment. She has so much kennel anxiety she hurts herself trying to get out and she makes herself sick.

She was in a foster but unfortunately no fault to her it didn't work out and she is back at Glynn county animal services.

During the very short time of her foster they said she seemed to relax quickly. They learned she is a very sweet and loving dog with anyone, including kids and she seemed to has some house training down.
She will go into a crate on her own but when you close the door she starts to get anxious (this will just take patiences and time learning that it's not bad thing.) Also, she walks great on a leash.

Currently, speckles would want to be a only pet OR in a home where they can give her the time, patience and space to decompress for a while before introducing her to other furry friends

Since speckles came back from her foster she has been staying in the intake kennels. She has relaxed a lot since being in the intake kennels. She can't live in the intake kennels at animal control forever. Someone give this sweet little girl a ticket out of shelter and into a forever home like she deserves.

Due to her being in the intake kennels the public doesn't have access to that part. So you will have to specifically ask about her.

HELP NEEDED FOR GCAS ALUM HOPE'S (FORMERLY CLARICE) COMPLEX AMPUTATION!

Hope (formerly Clarice) was found wandering in downtown Brunswick last year, with her left rear leg mostly gone and lots of scarring. Last November, Vicky visited the shelter, determined to foster a dog to relieve overcrowding and save a precious life. She had a completely different dog in mind....until this girl (then Clarice) placed her paw on Vicky's leg and gazed into her eyes! Hope is now her adoptee ❤️

We will never know what poor Hope endured, nor what happened to her poor leg: trap,barbed wire? We do know that this is one sweet, brave and healthy girl who just needs a complicated amputation to relieve the pain that's been increasing and prevent future issues. You will recall that Hope's brother Buddy passed recently, but she and Vicki have leaned on one another and her spirits are beginning to lift. 😊

Dr. Mati Hanish of Seaside Veterinary Hospital on SSI is the skilled surgeon who will be performing Hope's orthopedic surgery. The estimated cost is $1200-1500 for this 5-year-old girl's relief. Vicki is a retired lady on a fixed income who works part-time and will need our help to cover the cost. Hope's surgery is scheduled for May 22nd. You may donate directly to Seaside for Vicky's dog Hope at 912-638-7600, or in person at
175 Skylane Road on St. Simon's. Our friends at The Pet Doctor have also offered to accept donations towards the surgery at Seaside in person at 110 Anderson Way in Brunswick or at 912-466-9384.
