Oaklie came in for a visit with Dr. Martin and some treats while posing for a couple of pictures. Please keep in mind that while photos are cute and we all love to involve our pets in our festive fun, fireworks aren't for everyone. Be mindful of fireworks safety as well as fears.

Here are some tips to keep in mind:

Be extra cautious if your pet is outside, as fireworks can be unpredictable.
Store fireworks and other potentially dangerous items safely away from pets.
Be aware of the signs of overheating in pets, especially in warmer weather, and take appropriate precautions.

Keep pets indoors
Create a safe space
Provide distractions
Exercise pets earlier
Secure your pet
Stay with your pet if they are scared
Don't punish anxious behavior
Keep windows and curtains closed
Consider calming aids (contact your vet now, not at the last minute, for medications)

By taking these precautions, you can help your pets stay safe and comfortable during fireworks season!

Abandoned pets often suffer from emotional and physical distress. They may experience fear, anxiety, and depression after being separated from their families. Additionally, abandoned pets are at a higher risk of injury, illness, and malnutrition as they struggle to survive on their own.

Loud noises like fireworks can be really scary for your pet. Check out the infographic below for some tips to help make things less scary. If you know your pet is sensitive to loud noises and usually needs medications to help keep them calm, now is the time to request them with Independence Day coming up. Waiting till the last minute can result in delays in getting them to you.

Emma and mom stopped for a photo op before leaving Emma's appointment. Emma had her mani/pedi and her Librela injection for her arthritis. She always feel so much better afterwards.

Librela is a monthly injectable medication for dogs that helps manage pain associated with osteoarthritis. It works by targeting nerve growth factor (NGF), a key player in the pain cycle of osteoarthritis. The active ingredient, bedinvetmab, is a monoclonal antibody that blocks NGF. Librela is administered by a veterinarian via subcutaneous injection, and it's typically given once a month.

If your dog suffers from arthritis pain, ask your vet if Librela is right for him/her.
