Pet nail trimming is crucial for health, preventing pain, injury, and mobility issues by stopping nails from getting too long, which can snag and break, curl into paw pads, alter gait, and cause stress on feet, legs, and joints, ensuring comfort and proper movement for your pet. Regular trims also protect floors and furniture from scratches and maintain overall well-being. Fortunately, our nail trims are not anything like the fun picture below.

Some dogs love burrowing under blankets because it feels like a safe little “den.”

It is calming, warm, and helps them relax even more. If your pup is a blanket snuggler, they are basically living their best cozy life. ❄️💛

Cold weather safety tips:
* Shorten Walks: In freezing temperatures (below 20°F), limit walks to 5-10 minutes; keep them short and frequent.
*Dress Them: Short-haired, small, senior, or young dogs need sweaters or coats for warmth.
*Watch for Cold: If you start shivering, it's time to go in. Dogs can get hypothermia and frostbite as well.
*Never in a Car: A car becomes a refrigerator in cold weather; never leave a dog unattended.
*Leash Safely: Keep dogs leashed in snow; they can lose their scent and get lost easily.
*Wipe Them Down: Salt, ice, and de-icers irritate paws and can be toxic if licked; wipe paws with a damp cloth after every walk.

"A Bird in Flight is Poetry in Motion"

In recognition of National Bird Day, Jules, who today is a very happy & healthy Eclectus Parrot, is here to share with you the importance of a safe, healthy & clean environment where birds have ample space to exercise & free fly in a safe supervised area, a nutritious diet, qualified medical care, & enrichment activities where they can express their natural behaviors.

Confinement in cages can lead to neurotic behavior, excessive screaming, feather plucking, self-mutilation, & other destructive habits which, even after being placed in a flourishing home may never go away. Very few people are capable of meeting the special needs of captive exotic birds.

Exotic bird sanctuaries across the country are overwhelmed with hundreds of unwanted & abused birds in need of rescue & life-long homes.

Each year, millions of birds are captured from the wild or produced in captivity for commercial profit or human amusement. Thousands of parrots are taken from the wild to be sold as pets, & the initial shock of losing their freedom & being confined to a cage can kill many wild-caught birds.

Avian rescue & shelter organizations in the U.S. & abroad range from small, home based rescue groups that provide temporary care & placement for birds in need to large sanctuaries that provide lifetime care for hundreds of birds.
