As we look back on this year, it’s impossible not to feel overwhelmed by everything these animals have taught us.

We saw fear turn into trust.
We saw broken spirits learn how to hope again.
We saw lonely animals fall asleep for the first time knowing they were safe.

Every rescue came with a story — some heartbreaking, some uncertain — but all deserving of compassion. Every adoption was a promise made: you are loved, you are wanted, you are home. Every reclaim was a moment filled with tears, relief, and the powerful reminder that families belong together.

These weren’t just animals that passed through our shelter. They were lives that mattered. They left paw prints on our floors and on our hearts.

This work is not easy. There were long days, heavy moments, and goodbyes that stayed with us. But there were also joyful reunions, quiet victories, and the indescribable feeling of watching a life change right in front of us.

To our volunteers, adopters, supporters, and staff — thank you for being the hands that comforted, the voices that advocated, and the hearts that never gave up.

Because of you, so many animals got a second chance this year. And because of them, we’re reminded why we’ll always keep showing up. ❤️🐾

This handsome, stocky fella was found on Hamil Road in Bremen, near the railroad crossing, thanks to an observant member of the Haralson County Road Department who made sure he didn’t end up in harm’s way. 🙌🚧

He’s safe with us now, getting some TLC (and yes… he’s already trying to eat our snacks 😄).

Hey y’all, Haralson County Animal Shelter could use a hand! 🐾

We’re in need of old newspapers to help keep our cat kennels clean and comfortable. If you’ve got stacks you’re done with (daily paper, ads, inserts, whatever), we’d be grateful to take them off your hands.

Drop-off: Haralson County Animal Shelter
What we can use: Clean, dry newspapers (bundled or bagged is perfect)

Hey y’all, just a quick heads up that Haralson County Animal Shelter lobby will be CLOSED to the public this week so our staff can handle daily care and holiday operations.

✅ Our lobby will reopen on Monday, 12/29/25.

Our Story

Our Shelter is run by Haralson County Animal Control. Some of the animals who make their way here are owner surrendered, but most are picked up as strays by the Animal Control Officers who respond to citizen calls. We use this page to let the community know what animals are in the shelter, either looking for their owner, or looking for a new family. Thank you for 'Liking' our page, and come see us at the Shelter near the Big Bull in Buchanan! P.S. we have published our hours here on Facebook, but we were unable to specify that on Saturdays, we are only open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. Come see us on those two weekends!
