🚨 IMPORTANT NOTICE: HARALSON COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER UNDER QUARANTINE 🚨

Due to a suspected outbreak of Parvovirus, the Haralson County Animal Shelter is under mandatory quarantine as directed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

The affected dogs are believed to have contracted the virus prior to arriving at the shelter. Unfortunately, because Parvo symptoms aren’t always visible right away, the infection wasn’t detectable during intake.

We’re taking all necessary precautions to contain the virus and protect the animals currently in our care.

This is a critical reminder to keep your pets up-to-date on their vaccinations—not only for their safety, but to help protect the broader pet community.

Our shelter has seen a surge in dumped and abandoned animals lately, many in poor condition. If you witness suspicious activity involving animal dumping or neglect, please report it immediately.

🛑 The shelter will remain closed to the public for two weeks as we respond to this situation.
📅 We are tentatively planning to reopen on July 14th.
🚨 We will still be responding to animal-related emergencies during this time.

This post is for our two available puppies, which is Anna and Ozzy. Anna is a bit of a skittish 3 to 4 month old pup. She’s very food motivated. She’s also very playful and very loving. And Ozzy, the oddball is also 3 to 4 months old. He is very food motivated as well. Along with being very playful and very loving. They are both still very trainable and would love to find their forever homes. Come by and check out Anna and Ozzy.

Our FREE cat adoption event is still going strong! 😺

Please come adopt one before they finish their PowerPoint presentation on "Why We Deserve Treats 24/7."

They’ve already formed a union and someone just opened Excel. It’s getting serious. 🐾📊🧑‍💼

We have low cost spay/neuter options available for all our animals. Looking forward to another spay/neuter & vaccination event in the coming months.

Our Story

Our Shelter is run by Haralson County Animal Control. Some of the animals who make their way here are owner surrendered, but most are picked up as strays by the Animal Control Officers who respond to citizen calls. We use this page to let the community know what animals are in the shelter, either looking for their owner, or looking for a new family. Thank you for 'Liking' our page, and come see us at the Shelter near the Big Bull in Buchanan! P.S. we have published our hours here on Facebook, but we were unable to specify that on Saturdays, we are only open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. Come see us on those two weekends!
