Ester is a senior dog with a gentle soul and a slow, steady trot. Her eyes, clouded by cataracts, doesn’t catch every movement, and her ears—once sharp and alert—now missed most sounds. But none of that stopped her tail from wagging the moment she sensed kindness nearby. Everyone at the shelter adores her. Ester is perfectly housebroken, always waiting patiently for her walks. And on those walks, she moved easily beside her person, her leash manners nearly flawless. She doesn’t need speed or excitement—just a calm stroll and a guiding hand. What Ester loves most, though, were soft things: soft beds, soft blankets, and especially soft treats. We always keep a few on hand, and Ester would perk up the moment she caught their scent, her nose leading the way with surprising accuracy. Back in her cozy kennel, she’d curl into her plush bed like it was her favorite place in the world—until someone came by to offer gentle pets and a quiet moment of companionship. Ester wasn’t looking for a busy home or grand adventures. She was looking for someone with a tender heart, someone who saw the beauty in an old dog who had already given the best years of her life to loving humans—and still had plenty of love left to share. She might not hear your voice or see you clearly, but Ester would know you by your kindness, by your touch, and by the comfort of simply being near you. And to the person willing to give her a soft bed and a soft place to land, Ester would offer the purest, sweetest companionship a senior dog could give. She is ready for her final, forever home—one gentle day at a time.

Willow sits quietly in her kennel, her soft tail giving a hesitant wag each time someone walks by. She isn’t the type to rush to the front or jump for attention—she is sweet, gentle, and a little shy. But those who spent time with her knew the truth: Willow had a heart full of love she was just waiting to share. Once she feels comfortable with someone, she inches her way closer, leaning her head in for soft cuddles. If you stay long enough, she might even try to climb into your lap—slowly, unsure at first, as if checking whether it was really okay to want that much affection. Willow knows a few commands and shows them off with quiet pride. She walks okay on a leash, and we believe she might even be housebroken. She is doing her best to show the world she could be a wonderful companion. But Willow needs someone patient—someone willing to let her open up at her own pace. Given time, kindness, and a little encouragement, she would blossom into the loving, loyal dog she longed to be. So Willow is waiting, watching the door with hopeful eyes. She isn’t the boldest dog in the room, but she is the one who would love you with her whole heart once she knew she was safe. Our Story

Our Shelter is run by Haralson County Animal Control. Some of the animals who make their way here are owner surrendered, but most are picked up as strays by the Animal Control Officers who respond to citizen calls. We use this page to let the community know what animals are in the shelter, either looking for their owner, or looking for a new family. Thank you for 'Liking' our page, and come see us at the Shelter near the Big Bull in Buchanan! P.S. we have published our hours here on Facebook, but we were unable to specify that on Saturdays, we are only open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. Come see us on those two weekends!
