Vespoochie was not cooperating on pictures. lol
Otto was really struggling to pay attention to mom. He wanted to join class in the other yard. He did very on not bolting. He can surprise mom sometimes and get away from her.
This was a huge step for Patina.. She won 1st place. The most difficult thing for her was the last item.. for her to stand stay while the trainer walked around her and mom was away from her was awesome. I was so proud of her. Such a great improvement. She had pretty high separation anxiety.. she does not like to get very far from mom. For her to allow a man to walk around her away from mom and not go to mom for protection was a great success for her. Such a good girl.. Again we are looking for improvement. We are not looking for perfection.. That is not how I train in my class.
I was very proud of mom and Jerry Lee. Jerry Lee has been really bad about bolting away and nipping mom in play.. this was a huge improvement and with moms hard work won 3rd place.
Ava was second place. Camera died so we were not able to get her entire competition. Really showed how much mom has been working on her.. great job..
Training Class Competition. Beginning competition. Its all about having fun and learning new skills. Please no criticism. This is not a professional class.. It is just for fun... Encouragement and advice is always welcome. This is Cece first time and she was all about the fun and forgot about mom and what she was suppose to do.
Training or playtime lol Travis is one of our evaluator trainers.
Floppy did so good with the girls, and her giggles get me every time lol
Floppy has a new fan club. The girls had a blast getting a ride.
I was wondering if Snickers would participate today lol. I have not run her in a circle in awhile for class. but she loves her cookie at the end..
I believe strongly in having children part of desensitizing the dogs in class. We want the dogs to sit calmly while children are being rowdy and having fun and they are to sit calmly and watch. The class loves when the girls visit class. We had a new friend join today. He was quite surprised when I encouraged him to yell and scream while running. lol
I want to talk a little about this video. You will always hear comments of a better way of training. I want you to really picture what we are working on with Charlie. Charlie family saved him from the euthanasia list. He has a lot of street smarts. He is a survivor. He is on pure instincts with zero social skills. He has bitten several people in trying to help him including his owner.. So understanding just how powerful and dangerous this dog can be. Im not one to use ecollars or prongs as a correction devise. I use a basic slip lead. In order for a dog like Charlie to take the redirection seriously, you need to at the minimum match his energy.. this is not what I want you to do.. So putting the leash higher on the neck gives us more physical strength to handle Charlie, make sure no one including Charlie gets hurt. After this video Charlie was able to go on a walk with Zar side by side with dad. It takes time.. One of the things you didn’t see in the beginning is Charlie came in on 2 legs dragging dad into the building.. I showed dad how to slow down, calm Charlie down and we were successful in getting Charlie to walk through the class. Something else you don’t see very much in this video is we have 3 other reactive dogs in class that Charlie has to walk by to go to his seat.. You see Charlie reacting to my son in the costume he was able to go to my son later and get pets.. You have a reactive dog like Charlie you have to slow everything down to one step at a time.. lots of backing up and restarting.. SLOW DOWN… let them be ready to go through the challenge.. it is on their time to learn, not yours…. Give them time to process what you want them to do.. and above all you must relax… if you are tense and frustrated you will not be successful with your dog… your energy helps guide the dog into doing what you want them to do…
