Duke is deaf. Today we introduced him to hand signs for sit, touch, come and basket. We also taught him a hand sign marker “thumbs up”. He is very skittish so confidence is going to be part of his training plan too. He’s incredibly smart🩵🩵🩵

Being friendly, neutral or playful doesn't mean that emotional state is automatically transferrable.
Friendliness ISN'T transferrable to every situation.⚠️
It can be difficult for us to understand that our dogs can become reactive, anxious and even behave aggressively....because they are SO friendly at home, at the in laws house or when they are in an area they are familiar with.
I think we can all be somewhat guilty of expecting emotional consistency when we change the environment...yet we are shocked when behaviour happens "out of the blue"
Situations and environments can hugely impact a dogs behaviour.
Your dog may be friendly.
Your dog may like other dogs....but your dog can struggle when they are elsewhere.

He is the neatest little thing! Gentle and curious! Did you know, doves are ground birds and prefer walking and foraging over flying? We are so lucky to be his new family!

I’m not sharing for their training method… I don’t agree with that part but…

So many bite cases I get start with”I put my hand out for them to sniff…”
I’ll ask why and they’ll reply “because they were wagging their tail”

In the crate, this dog is wagging its tail… and it would probably bite you if you tried to say hi.
It’s a great example of what I warn about trusting a wagging tail. Look at the rest of its body… dilated eyes… stiff posture… snarling teeth… close to the door. It’s saying leave me alone… I’m warning I will bite.
