National Pet Fire Safety Day takes place every year on July 15, and it’s a day to learn how to keep your pet safe in a fire. For many of us, pets are our most precious asset so it makes sense that we would dedicate a day to keeping them safe during one of the scariest things we can imagine. It was started by the Kennel Club and ADT Security in 2009 to help pet owners learn safety measures to protect their beloved pets and homes from fire, and it’s a great opportunity to learn how to keep your fur baby safe.

National Purebred Dog Day is celebrated on May 1. It honors the diversity and history of purebred dogs. Every breed in existence has its purpose. Some are bred for hunting game and guarding homes, others for companionship, herding cattle, and emergency rescue. It’s hard to imagine what the world would look like without our adorable four-legged friends. There are over 900 million dogs around the world today. They are service dogs, K9 officers, military working dogs, and pets. On National Purebred Dog Day we celebrate purpose-bred pooches and the unique role they’ve played in helping humans throughout history.

National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day is celebrated across the nation on April 30 and we are getting ready to observe the day by going to pet shelters, adopting as many pets as possible, spreading the word among our friends and colleagues, and taking to social media to spread the message to everyone. Did you know, every year, just in the U.S., about 6.5 million animals go into animal shelters? More interestingly, roughly half of them are cats and half of them are dogs.
