The 4th is fun for all the humans, but so much of the time it is very scary for our pets! It is one of the busiest days at shelters and rescues b/c many afraid animals escape and get lost! Take a look over the Fear Free Pet info on having a safe celebration for your pet.

This sweet pup (Sweetness) has been doing training twice a week from daycare, but yesterday she had her first groom with our amazing groomers. Look at what a great job they did. Turned a sweet fluffy baby into a cool refined young lady!

Oscar and Gus wanted to remind everyone that it is ALWAYS safest for doggos to be seatbelted with crash tested seatbelt harness or ro be contained in the right sized crash tested travel crate. We love the sleepypod harnesses (and carriers for small dogs.)

We have had people say they thought it was safest for a dog to be unrestrained in a car. That way they can get away if there is an accident. But car riding is as dangerous to dogs as it is to kids and adults. An unrestrained dog can become 1000 lbs of force in an accident causing injury and death to the dog, but also a big risk to you. Another factor to consider, is that if you dog is unrestrained and in and accident they might try to protect you from EMS and that could make first responders unable to help you the best way possible. So make sure you and your dogs are best protected by keeping them crated or harnessed in the car!

We are so proud of this good boy!! He has worked so hard on his leash manners and done amazing! But he recently became our head trainers running buddy too. They use a special harness and it took a few times to teach him he was allowed to pull into it. But he got it today and was a great help at picking up the pace! When we started working with Oscar, he was a pulling machine. So having this outlet of time when he is allowed to pull is SUPER fun for him. But we want to make sure that he knows that he can only pull when wearing the special harness and if he is connected to a collar or any other harness he should walk gently and politely with us. Today we ran with the harness on one path in the AM and in the PM we walked that same path with the leash hooked to his collar. Look at how well he did! He pulled on the running harness and walked politely on his collar. What a rockstar!

Migo has been working very hard on leash manners. Look at this polite leash walking. He is a smart boy, who loves to please! (the wind is a little loud in this video.)

Blanco has been working very hard on learning not to dash out the door to go on adventures! Here we are working on teaching him that he stays inside the threshold unless told he can go outside. Pretty hard for an adventurous Husky!
