I've not been very active on the ranch lately.
I wondered out today and we have 2 new peacock chicks and 7 new chicken nuggets. The other 4 chicken nuggets are tripled in size and are getting their big bird feathers. And lastly (not a good picture) all my handsome peacock boys have lost their trains.

Well, it's official. My shoulder has literally exploded. I have torn almost every tendon and ligament in my right shoulder. I should know Monday when my surgery takes place and then I have a minimum 4 month recovery time.

Oh the things I need to get done on the ranch before then. I'm going to need an assistant!

It's amazing to me that you can drive all over our front pasture and not see one single cow. I mean how can 150 cows hide so well lol.
Took a little bit but I found them. Now to sort them all out and find the particular calf we need.

Hanging out with the kids tonight.
Put in some new obstacles for them to play on and they love them. Soon we'll get their actual play yard built.

My little Win"chester" is the smallest at only 3 weeks old but he'll go head to head with any other kid around lol.

Sad/happy day on the ranch today.
We had to put down a momma cow that we've been trying so hard to help recover.
And as we said goodbye to her, our first peachick of the year was hatched.

After 3 hours of hunting we finally found little Bean to give her antibiotics. It doesn't look like she's hidden from this close up picture but trust me. She was buried in the trees on a hill side. We drove by her three times. Third time's a charm.

Today's cattle report...

Momma cow is still holding on. She's having her meals served to her 3 times a day as well as at least 25 gallons of water to keep up her milk production. Baby is still nursing while Mom lays down.

Broken leg baby is moving about. Not really able to keep up with the herd but she's mobile. And she's great at playing hide and seek. We've spent hours looking for her this afternoon for her next round of medications and all not finding her. Back at that in a little bit.

And lastly, the bulls have moved in today. Not a lot of action happening just yet but let the breeding begin.

Oh and PS I HATE TICKS. The end.

Not a good week on the ranch.
Our older girl with the hip injury from this winter is getting close to the end of her time. And Bean, our first calf born this year got a broken leg. She went to the vet today and had a cast put on but there is only a 10% chance she will recover but we have to at least try. 😢

2 beautiful, friendly, and fun project horses. Ready for you to take them in any direction you want to go.

Cheyenne- 3 year old grade mare. Jet black with 2 white pasterns on her back legs. Loves to be brushed and hosed down. Has been saddled and bridled a few times and did very well. Good for the farrier. Easy keeper, good on pasture. Not bossy at all. About 15h and growing. Very athletic and likes to jump. We'll make a great eventing horse.

Scout- 4 year old palomino QH (no papers). White blaze and 3 white socks. Very friendly in your pocket kind of horse. Always in your space trying to see what you're doing. Has a little more riding time than Cheyenne and gets better every time. He is very shy with his ears. He also likes to be brushed and absolutely LOVES water. Crosses creeks, ponds, hose, hydrants you name it. He is the boss between the two and is built like a tank. Super easy keeper on pasture. Good for the farrier and is also around 15H. He will make a great ranch horse. He's a power house with no fear. He's a little more spirited and had no problem testing your knowledge.

Both horses- are barefoot, with good feet. They are very surefooted and experienced with mountain/rocky terrain.
They are both used to cattle, dogs, poultry of all kinds. Side by sides, machinery, and vehicles. Nothing seems to phase them yet. Not spooky.

So we started planting the garden today. Of course Nosey Rosey has to supervise. She's now teaching Charlie the ropes and while we were focused on them hauling out the veggies, Tulip made her break into the house. Of these birds.

The Adventures of Rosie, funny of the day.

We have dog kennels in our mud room for the dogs when they are muddy.
It's basically a partially enclosed deck.

Miss Rosie decided to lay an egg in Dakota's kennel today. Dakota was a little confused lol.
