Wow! Yesterday, we had the wonderful privilege of helping Booker come home to his family after going missing for two weeks!
If you haven’t seen the posts around town, Booker went missing from his family two weeks ago during the worst cold spell in the area this year. He not only survived through extreme weather, threats from wildlife & traffic, but he came out of it with barely a scratch on him! He was brought into our Barrington office with only minor injuries after his ordeal. He is a true miracle!!
We want to pay homage to his spirit & courage, as well as to the team that found him, and give everyone hope to never give up in these situations. We are so happy for you and your family, Booker! 💙

12/7/23 UPDATE:: Milli has been found and is safely returned home!!

🚨 Lost Dog Announcement! 🚨

Please be on the lookout for a 23-pound black short-haired dog (possibly lab mix). Milli got loose in our parking lot and was last seen crossing 83 about 1.5 hours ago. We have been helping to search and no sightings since then.

**LAST SEEN near the skate park/splash pad**

We are continuing to receive a lot of questions about the current mystery canine respiratory illness that is being covered in the news. While little is still known about this illness, we wanted to share what we do know so far.

🐾 Dear Pet Parents 🐾

You may have heard about a contagious respiratory disease going around. Here’s what we know so far about this illness, along with tips to ensure the safety of your furry companions:

🐾We are actively monitoring the situation. While there has been no official release of confirmed cases of a new respiratory disease in Illinois at this time, anecdotal evidence suggests a rise in local cases of coughing dogs and we will continue taking precautions to prevent any potential outbreak.

🐾Awareness is key: Stay informed about the symptoms - coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, loss of appetite, lethargy. If you notice these signs, reach out to us promptly.

🐾Preventative measures: There is a risk of upper respiratory infections with any dog-to-dog interaction. Weigh the risks at this time of things like boarding, daycare, grooming, dog parks, etc. While it is currently undetermined whether this is a new virus or a mutation of an existing virus, it is a good idea to ensure your pet is up-to-date on vaccinations such as Bordetella, Distemper/Parainfluenza, and Canine Influenza.

🐾Veterinary intervention: Reach out to us promptly if you notice any changes in your pet’s health. When bringing a pet with symptoms to the clinic, call from your car. We may ask you to wait with your pet in the car until we can arrange a separate entrance. Keep in mind that if a pet needs hospitalization for this coughing disease we may refer to a 24-hour emergency clinic.

Let's work together to keep our pets healthy and happy. Share this post to spread the word and feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

Due to the recent wildfires in Canada, the air quality in our region has significantly declined. We wanted to take a moment to emphasize that it's essential for the safety of your pets to minimize their exposure to the hazardous air during this period. Animals with cardiovascular or respiratory disease are especially at risk. It's a bittersweet week here at ACCBG because our lovely technician, Sam, is off to vet school! She will be attending St. Mattew's University in the Cayman Islands. We're so incredibly proud of her and (if you've met Sam we're sure you'll agree) she's going to be an amazing veterinarian. Please join us in wishing her the best of luck with her studies! 🐶🐱🏝
