Too easy for your pup? You can increase the difficulty by tying the towel or placing it inside of a box!
An easy hack to keep your dog near you while you pick up their poop when they’re on leash! This is especially helpful if your dog gets the 💩 zoomies
I had enough time to pick up Bandit’s poop AND wait for him to finish finding all the treats. He gets to perform a natural behavior (foraging) and I have a stress free time cleaning up after him. Win🤝Win
I take consent petting seriously when interacting with any animal! It’s strengthens a relationship, helps build trust and is also just super cool (I think) to communicate with your pet🙂
I also use this method when meeting new dogs! If the dog does not initiate touch (not to be confused with the dog approaching and sniffing) I will not proceed to offer petting. I often offer a treat or simply nothing at all. I don’t shake the hand of every new person I meet, so I do not expect an unfamiliar dog to want me to touch them.
I know the history of this dog very well and also know that she craves and enjoys human interaction.
Enrichment items don’t have to be expensive or flashy! Before putting this egg carton in recycling, I filled it up with some tasty treats and gave it to a dog! You can use treats OR fill it with part of your pet’s meal.
You can change the difficulty of this enrichment item by keeping it open for beginners, closing it for intermediate users, and then also adding treats wrapped in a paper bag and closing the holes for the more advanced! I knew this dog sometimes enjoyed stealing and destroying items when home alone, so I provided her with something safe to “steal” and destroy, a win win!
Let me know in the comments if you’ve made one like this for your pet or if you’ve never tried it, let me know how it went!🤩
