It was just before New Years Eve 2015 and my family and we were driving home with our first adopted rescue dog Teeko. 🐶🐾
He whined the entire ride.
When we got home we were all excited and I quickly learned two things
1) Teeko had a ton of energy and 2) We needed a positive way to exercise and tire him out.
I was working a full time job, had a family and I just didn't have 2 hours every morning to go hiking.
Walking him around the neighborhood was not working - and I felt terrible leaving for work with him crying and giving me sad puppy eyes. The guilt trip was UNBEARABLE!
All of Teeko's extra energy was starting to cause BIG problems.
Our walks were becoming a game of who could pull more - you can guess who was winning.
Messes in the house.
Constant whining, barking and running around.
To say things were out of control was an understatement.
I was feeling really helpless and useless. I wanted to give Teeko the life he deserved but I could see I was failing daily.
I mean what in the world did I get myself into?
Maybe I just wasn't cut out to have a dog after all.
I knew I needed to get some help.
So I did. Teeko and I got some great dog training.
And that is when I learned the AWESOME joy of tug-of-war and how it could not only tire dogs out FAST but also help train them.
At that moment I knew things were going to change for the better. Once I knew how to get rid of Teeko's energy in a positive way our problems started to disappear.
But there was a problem.
All the tug toys I got were hurting my hands or were torn up in a day or two and looked like garbage lying around the floor.
I decided I was going to create something better so I would want to play more.
That's when I created the tugrrr tug toy.
I wanted it to be something I'd liked using, that was durable and well designed.
I made the ends detachable so you could not only play tug but fetch to get not 1 but 2 active games in at once.
If your juggling a busy life with a dog that just needs more activity the tugrrr can help you give them the physical and mental exercise they need.
