Elmwood Pet has been around since 1947, and we think it’s the oldest, still operating, shop in the country (at least, that we have found so far).

John Higgins and his brother Tom bought the shop 1986, making it the one-stop shop for pet owners in the Elmwood village of Buffalo, NY and surrounding suburbs. Elmwood Pet Supplies sells the finest in pet toys, pet supplies, beds, leashes, collars, food and everything you need to keep your furry friends happy and healthy. We have a self service dog wash, parking and local delivery available.

Fluff & Tuff’s Eddie Sloth is vacationing in beautiful SoBu (South Buffalo) awaiting Thanksgiving for his release as the likely celebrity toy of Christmas ‘24.

I was asked to put this on our social media to hopefully find whoever made the offer to take these dogs. Even if you’re not that person, they’re said to be very easy, friendly animals. It’s a sad situation that I’d like to help find a good end. I didn’t know him but it’s a situation we all need to think about once in awhile.

We are discontinuing Bil-Jac frozen food because we no longer have a warehouse willing to keep it for us in Buffalo. We currently have about 50 cases left. I think the remaining stock will go fast. Sorry about this but frozen warehouse space is rare in Buffalo.

Unfortunately, Zero didn’t make it at his new place. It doesn’t seem like an issue with him so I ‘m hoping someone who noticed him before will still have an interest. He’s back with good-deed-doing Wanda but can’t stay since she already has four. If you have an interest, please call me at the pet store, 716–8 83–1377. I’m easily confused here. Thanks.

It’s been a long time since I’ve put anything up on Elmwood Pet’s Facebook. I should be using it to promote my business, but I’d much rather promote Zero, the pitbull. A customer of mine needs help trying to find a better living situation for this one year-old boy. He showed up at the store today and quickly proved himself quite the charmer. Unfortunately, most of his time is spent in a crate in a home that very much wants him gone.
A good deed-doing dog trainer customer of ours, Kim Ocasio, has volunteered a free $750 training program to get things off to a good start. From what we know, he is good with cats and from the little experience we’ve had so far, he really wants to play with dogs. We do not want to send them into the overcrowded shelter systems of Western New York. I’m not much for Facebook, but anybody who wants to know more can call me at the store. Thanks, Tom.
