Hey all. Sorry for the long absence. This isn't an easy post for me to make but I wanted to update you all on a bit of happenings.

I am not going to lie, I have felt defeated. One string of bad luck after another, along with some personal struggles mentally, I lost my spark. Over the last 2 years I have lost key animals to many of my grandiose plans due to heating issues, random losses, overlooking obvious issues until it was too late, etc. I feel like I have failed, because I did. I have to completely restructure my projects. So going forward with corns I will only be focused on BGSU Odd gene, leopard motley, and Heliconia/specter. Other species are limited to my pair of bull snakes and a few leopard boa combos. I will rebuild myself up but starting back super structured and particular. I will likely release my Rainwater Tangerine leopard gecko project at some point also and just stick to snakes for now.

If you made it this far thank you for your support. I will be back with the quality of animals you expect from me. Pic of an odd gene baby I picked up as a non feeder for tax.

The survivors from my leopard motley project. Testing inheritance. Female 'Merida' a non leopard motley with a leopard motley sire to a het motley male 'Julius'. The 3 surviving babies all ate first meal. 2.1. The female and 1st male pictured show some aberrant pattern, frosting, banding, and some pinstripe.and will be staying here. The 2nd male has some lovely hurricane/ frosting and will likely be available. I am excited for this project.

JULMER241 UPDATE (Leopard Motley corn project)

TW animal death

You know as a breeder I will always share the good the bad and the ugly. I don't believe in making it all sunshine and rainbows on this page. Breeding isn't always easy.

The good- the first 2 motleys I posted (on the holdback list) are lovely and will make great additions to my Leopard motley project. Their patterns, while not fully Leopard they definitely have some influence from the grandsire.

The Bad- the third out was also a motley, but due to temperature fluctuations into high temp range during crucial stages of development has a visible kink in the top 3rd if his body. As long as he eats and grows he will be made available as a pet. I say he but not sexed yet.

The ugly- one baby was DIE but looks like he almost made it to term. And the last 2 made it out on their own, one motley one not. However they were both more severely kinked and had no forward mobility. They both were quickly culled. I don't believe in letting any animal suffer. Forward motion is important to snake life functions and they just didn't have it. Sad outcome.

But looking at the brightside, I did hit the genetic lotto. All motley but 1, which isn't bad for only having one motley parent out of 6 good eggs. Also I have 2 new babies that can end up helping me fulfill my vision for this project. I will be repeating this pairing next year with a different incubator.

2 seasons in a row with deformities in different clutches makes the first year it happened (last year) not just a fluke. Lessons learned and I can do better.

Thanks for reading.

One last check before bed and first one pipped second one out was not going to let its sibling shine alone. Not as cooperative getting a picture or 2 but we are 2 for 2 on hitting motley so far 4 eggs to go ...i am getting more and more excited for this project

I knew when doing this pairing, that Julius would be the perfect boy to help with the amel leopard motley project. He is only het motley, first one out is this little stunner.

Merida is a amel motley from a leopard motley sire. While she isn't visually a leopard herself the coding is in there.

Julius is an amel het motley that throws lovely banded and partial pinstripe.

While this little baby isn't "leopard" by definition it does have some aberrant pattern towards the tail so...probably worth watching him/her grow a while as a holdback for the project.
