Peeva is the world’s first and only universally standardized pet microchip identification system, designed to provide better health and safety for missing pets and bring them home to their familes as quickly as possible. All our animal identification products are developed and produced based on 134.2 KHz ISO 11784/85 FDX-B standards. Our microchips are approved by the International Committee for Animal Recording (ICAR). ISSUE 1: NO STANDARDIZATION
There are multiple microchip companies, multiple microchip manufacturers, multiple microchip scanners, multiple frequencies in which they operate, multiple cataloging systems, and multiple registration databases.
Not all microchips can be read by all microchip scanners, so the likelihood of a pet microchip being read is very low. A microchip from comapny A can not always be read by a scanner from company B. If a microchip can be read, the microchip identification number needs to be manually written down and multiple registries need to be visited and called until a match is found. That registry will then locate the pet owner if the owner remembers to keep his or her contact information up to date. The overall scanning process is incredibly time consuming and veterinarians, for example, do not have the time, staff or resources to accomodate the overall process. This has ultimately led to a lack of scanning for microchips altogether. As a results, missing pets are seldom recovered.
ISSUE 2: THE DATA PROBLEM
There are multiple microchip registries and multiple Veterinay Electronic Health Records software options.
Microchip registries are not willing to share their registration data. There is no centralized registry.
The veterinary field is extremely fragmented and often lags behind other industries technologically. Veterinarians lack the ability to pull together raw data.
