# # A Mother's Sacrifice

Meet Kiara, a stray cat who found herself in a desperate situation. Just weeks ago, kind-hearted individuals took her in, providing her with a safe haven to bring her litter of kittens into the world. But fate had other plans.

A few days after giving birth, Kiara's body began to betray her. A painful wound emerged on her abdomen, suspected to be a severe case of mastitis exacerbated by her newborns' nursing. As the wound worsened, it became clear that urgent medical intervention was needed.

That's where a veterinary technician at an emergency clinic stepped in. They couldn't turn a blind eye to Kiara's plight. The technician welcomed her and her five precious kittens into their care, determined to provide the medical attention she so desperately needs.

But the road ahead is long and costly. Kiara requires surgical debridement, frequent bandage changes, and possibly even further surgery to heal her wound fully. Meanwhile, the technician will be bottle-feeding her kittens, ensuring they receive the nourishment and care they need during this trying time.

Rescues are overwhelmed during kitten season, so the technician is turning to fellow animal lovers for help. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a world of difference in Kiara's recovery and her ability to one day be spayed and find a forever home with her kittens.

Please, open your hearts to this brave mother and her babies. Together, we can give them the second chance they deserve.

I would like to share this with the community, friends, and family, because those outside the veterinary world need to be reminded.
This touched my heart because our team is so affected by people’s words and actions!!!!
In my line of work, we see and hear so many things every day. Stories of accidents, illness, love and loss. One phrase I hear all too often is “They only care about money”....in the veterinary field, this is true- but not for the reasons so many believe.

We care about money....because it keeps the lights on.

We care about money....because it keeps the building warm for our clients and patients.

We care about money...because it keeps our doors open...24 hours a day...7 days a week...365 days a year.

We care about money...because it pays for the equipment and supplies that we need to keep our patients alive.

We care about money...because it pays the doctors that have given up many years of their lives to go to school, participate in internships and residencies, and go to continuing education programs to ensure they can offer the absolute best medicine to our patients.

We care about money...because it pays for our Client Care Representatives that spend countless hours listening to clients, talking them through difficult decisions, celebrating with them when their baby gets to go home, and offering a shoulder to cry on when the time comes to say goodbye.

We care about money...because it pays the technicians and assistants that give up dinners with friends, holidays with family, and bedtime stories with their children because their patients need them and they can’t bear to walk away...even though their shift ended hours ago.

We care about money...because no matter how much we love animals...no matter how badly we wish we could save them all...no matter how many tears we shed for those we couldn’t...no matter how many celebrations we have for those that pull through...we can not do any of it without money.

So yes, we care about the money...but at the end of the day...nothing means more to us than the lives we save. Nothing breaks our hearts more than those we can’t save. And nothing hurts us more than hearing you say the money was all we cared about....because nothing could be further from the truth.

So please kind……..❤️
