When someone asks me if I have any seniors, I'm cautiously optimistic. There are so few who will give their time, their heart and their home to a senior dog for fear of losing them too quickly. But the reward is real. Whether you get them for three weeks or three years, it's a love like no other. Ask me how I know. THANK YOU, Dori, for loving them like we do. Gert and Sugar Pop are going to get to live their golden years in a quiet home with all of the modern comforts available to them. I cried when they left and I miss them already, but we are grateful. Be good girls! You'll want for nothing from here on out!

Well, it's a Tommy’s Tursdays mystery to all, but Tommy got an infection in his little foot. Not sure how. This one we are fairly certain was not a grass awn. Maybe a cut in his pad or between his toes. He was not a happy camper as we started the process of doctoring and healing. He bit me, he bit Dave, but he appears to be happy and healed on the other side of his little foot situation--Thank goodness.

Many of you know our guy, Gideon. He came to us about a year ago. He's had a bit of a road to healing--his tail was somehow chopped off, crushing the vertebrae in the end of it, he was heat stressed covered in fleas and not much hair, and his eyes took a beating. Gideon had terrible phantom tail issues before we had his tail cleanly resectioned. He still has a bit of that craziness following him around. He's been to the specialist for his eyes. His impaired vision will only worsen in time and he will become blind. He's a sweet boy and a good traveler, but we feel like his best bet is to live in a home as the only dog. With his poor vision and his "I'm a little crazy" tail issues, he tends to get upset when he's surprised by other dogs. He can bite. This is a very special little guy. We are not desparate to find him a new home, but if there is something better for him out there, then we want him to have that. He is a special needs dog, therefore, we will be extremely particular about where he goes. Applications can be found on our website pekingesepatrol.com. The approved adopter will need to travel to pick him up. We do adopt out of state. We do not put our dogs on transport. We believe Gideon to be somewhere between 4-7 years old. Our time is valuable. Only complete applications will be reviewed.

Some days we are running an infirmary. We spend hours coaxing Myron, Mork and Pete that food is good and tasty. Poor Drac has found himself an eye ulcer, but his spirit is not bothered by the healing process (so much to learn from our canines!). We know where our hearts are, right in the middle of those guys who found our way to us because they knew we would not grow weary....

We are going to grab every ounce of sun and summer that we can get as August fades into September. The dogs can run around the lake and in the lake while they have the chance! Times like these can bring a smile to any Monday!

It recently dawned on us! We have Saran Wrap’s next spokesman…er…spokesdog! We actually have a real life built-in Slide cutter! Slide found his calling! 😂And I can attest to the “clean cut ❤️‍🩹😂every time!”

This is what makes summer so great. Lake times and dogs enjoying every moment. Wednesday and Lemmy decided fwimming wasn't too bad, however, one little expert fwimmer is feeling a bit miffed about "his" sport. Clear skies, clear water and warm sunshine. Summer please don't go!!! Fwim on Peke-le, fwim on!

Today on Tommy’s Tursdays,fwimming is a Pekingese sport! Tommy fwimmed to Mommy Person and thought he was going to get picked up when he got to her. He started to put his back legs down and realized he couldn’t touch! He’s so brave and confident!

We love summer in the Ozarks. The lakes and the rivers ask us for nothing and give us peaceful playtime in return! Depending on the type of fun we plan to have, we draw straws for those who like to go, are willing to go or are able to go. Today's winners are Lemmy, Wednesday, T-Tom and security personnel, Sasha Von Sheperd. Summer is flying by too quickly!

Dave came around the corner and couldn’t figure out why all the dogs were sitting by the door. It took about two seconds for him to realize what they were doing. Just waiting on the Mommy Person to come back in….😂😂😂

When you live with a wolf, there's really no stopping her protection mode. She makes sure there are no traspassers, no funny business on the property, and keeps all the forest rabbits in check. Regina is that person that's always in your personal space, making sure everything is as it should be..... It's fun having a timberwolf around....or maybe not.... All day, every day, "REGINA!!!! GET OUT OF MY SPACE!!!!!!"

Yep and here we are - Tommy's Tursdays, a week later and Tommy gets what Tommy wants.... This time it happens to be chicken. The Possum thinks there may be some injustice sniffing around with Tommy and his farm animals and Isha is cheering someone on....just not sure who....

Ok, so we usually save the best (or worst) for last. Slide is none too happy but when he's done, he can go back to feeling the air between his toes and under his belly and his other ... parts. Something about a haircut is quite freeing! Good boy, Slide!

You saw it last week... it's that time of year... About twice a year, we all have to get trimmed up. It's hard work, but oh the many hairstyles we get to have... if only the Mommy Person were as lucky! Idee would like to introduce her various supermodel looks...there is no shortage of hair here...This is one thick wooly little Pekingese....I agree with her, Hairstorm or bust!

It was a fun day on the river. Edgar and Harvey drew the winning straws. Some days we like to take the old guys. We never know when they are going to get tired so we take them while they can still go. Edgar is about 13 and Harvey is about 12. Senior day out on the river! Edgar still fwims like he's a 2 year old! It's the one thing his back surgery years ago didn't hinder. Harvey is one to just take it all in....

Saturdays are for pictures and this one is for our friend, Andrea. She was having difficulty keeping Gideon and Chowder Puff straight. Chowder Puff is a turkey leg and Gideon wants to be sweet, but has a little craycray in him. ❤️😂 So the question- who is whom? Ready? Go!

We didn't catch it on camera--we weren't ready, but Feedler was. Daddy Person went to the water and Feedler was right on his heels...then fwimming like a champ. Feedler is excited to see the water and then he's excited to sit in a chair at the water. He's got the waves to help bring him in....

Right now, our early mornings are spent helping a few dogs eat. Oscar is eating on his own now. Yay! Mork, Myron and Pete need some encouragment. Meal time around here is eat if you can and if you can't, we will be right there on the floor with you offering you anything (and we have run the gamut!) - anything you want. It could be seven types of dog food, prescription food, baby food, tuna, chicken, and/or pasta. Does it take hours of our day? Yep. Is it worth it? We wouldn't have it any other way...💗🐾

Gideon had a big time in the water. He's not scared and he will just paddle and then leave (thus the leash LOL!). This is extra funny because Tommy is just fwimming around here to there and over here again back to there.... The lake is where summer is!

Summer fun for those who love the water! This was Gideon's first time at the lake and he got right in without worry! He was having a big time. Visually impaired? No matter to him! There's still lots to smell! Hanging out with his friend, T-Tom, it was a good day!

Mr. Myrone, aka T-Tom Burrito loves coming to the water for water...um...water sports. Fwimming and getting his Aunt Liz E.'s lizard top the list today. The lizard was Liz E.'s favorite water toy. She was a bit braver than Tommy, always shoving it under the water and then going after it herself, fully submerged. Tommy hopes to carry on the tradition. 💗

If you love a Peke, you know grooming is part of the game plan. This time was mostly the girls, (Idee will need a few hours of her own...) enjoying their blow outs and their brush outs and their fans and....fans. Idee and Slide will still need their moment in the clipper limelight.... but at least we are making progress!

It's good to get a job for the summer, right? The Peke-le need something to do and should be productive members of their society. Chowder has decided maybe he has found his calling. It's risky with a Chowder Puff in your face, but he was over zealous in his new role at Slide's Bite and Bar..... Slide said, "Thanks but no thanks..."

It’s summer. We like being inside. We like being outside. But most of all we like when the Mommy Person gets the Arkansas watermelly and puts it in our Peke belly! The Possum….he’s come a long way baby!

It always lightens the heart to see little dogs slurping on tasty Arkansas melons. This is round #1 of our Cave City Watermelly! This is summer Pekingese porch time.

Tommy’s Tursdays are all about the little T-Tom burrito. His bad behavior of stealing toys on the beach somehow got him rewarded with more toys in the mail 😂Thank you, Angie! She found extra blood puppies and friends! Seems the little donkey has become the latest favorite. And somehow fitting….. 😂😂😂

The Oscar Trot!

It's Feedler‘s birthday fundraiser, presenting Oscar! Not only was he found at the trashcan, but his health and his spirit were both in the trashcan. Oscar has spent the last few weeks resting, eating, and feeling safe. It’s the simple things in life but we have tail wagging and floppy ears because he's trotting! He will be going for another doctor’s appointment late next week and maybe a specialist appointment the following week depending on what we find out. Please continue to send him happy vibes! Summertime Gus Gus

Next up on Feedler's Birthday Fundraiser...This guy came in our slew of new dogs late spring-early summer comers. Gus is an elderly guy, guess north of 14. Another health report that could have been better. Standard dry eyes, weakened back end, heart not great, but the mass in his testicle was HUGE. We made the decision to remove it so he wouldn't have to keep dragging that tennis ball around with him. We did not test it. We decided Gus gets to live each day facing foward and we will give him whatever he needs. His little orange demanding self reminds me of Morrie. We are not going to tell a lie. This surprised both of us. This guy, severely neglected, but having an opportunity to be free, all of a sudden decided to run and play on the beach. I almost started crying. Love for WittWitt!❤️

Myron’s Beach Comber 2024

Myron's golden years are filled with whatever Myron wants at whatever speed he wants to take it at. The beach agrees with him. Myron has been with us for several years, after winding up in a shelter and then a home who decided he marked too much. Grateful are the days that we get to have Mr. Easy Peasy Seri-osity floating through life and telling the youngsters to calm their chit....Love to Myron.
