📢 Important Awareness Update 📢
We have an important update to share regarding the recent discovery of a dangerous parasite in the Colorado River near Riverside County. The parasite, commonly known as Liver Fluke and scientifically referred to as Heterobilharzia americana has never been reported in this far west before, so it's crucial to spread awareness. This parasite can cause severe illness in dogs.
As we approach spring and summer, when many of us travel with our furry companions, it's essential to be informed. Symptoms of Heterobilharzia americana infection
❗️Loss of appetite
❗️Vomiting
❗️Diarrhea
❗️Weight loss
❗️Signs of liver disease
The most severe symptoms may take months to appear. If your pet has been in freshwater, particularly in the Colorado River area where this parasite has been reported, please be vigilant for any signs of illness. It's incredibly important to communicate your pet's water exposure history to your veterinarian and seek their advice promptly if you notice any concerning symptoms.
Let's work together to keep our beloved pets safe and healthy. Share this information with your friends and fellow pet parents to ensure everyone is aware of the potential risks.
Stay informed, stay vigilant, and let's prioritize the well-being of our furry family members! We will be happy to answer any questions that you might have, please write your questions in comment section.🐾 Thanks.
