Her compassion has saved thousands of animal lives.
In 2011, Angelina Jolie gave $2 million to the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary in Namibia—a safe haven for creatures harmed by conflicts, poaching, and habitat destruction. She didn’t do it for the spotlight, but simply to give suffering animals the chance to survive and heal.
Brad Pitt joined her in the cause through the Jolie Pitt Foundation, helping to build new medical facilities, enlarge rescue teams, and secure protected spaces for lions, cheetahs, African wild dogs, and other endangered species.
For Angelina, Naankuse means something deeply personal. Namibia is where her daughter Shiloh was born, and protecting its wildlife was a way to repay a country that gave so much to her own family.
Now, over a decade later, the sanctuary is still changing lives every single day, proving the lasting power of kindness.
