Socializing your dog while practicing safe can seem to be quite the conundrum 🤔

Fortunately, there are still things you can do to work on socialization with your dog while at home, such as introducing them to new surfaces 🌱and sounds 📺 in and around your home. Just be sure that each experience is a positive one! Act happy during the experience 😃and don’t forget the treats! 🐶

Paul Owens, a professional dog trainer and member of K9YA’s advisory board, notes that “socialization does not mean putting a dog in a new situation and seeing what happens. Socialization means introducing new situations and making them safe, positive, confidence-building experiences.” 💙

Forming Chains of Behaviors For Fun (and Weaning Off Treats!)

I stress to clients the value of forming chains of behaviors, not only for fun, but as a powerful tool to wean dogs off treats (because you don’t want to have to carry chicken around for the rest of your life!)
