The City of is currently preparing the Burbank Rancho Neighborhood Specific Plan May 10th 8am to 1pm
It is important to participate because they want to hear from us and the comment on the future of the Rancho. The Burbank Rancho Neighborhood Specific Plan will hopefully incorporate our comments to protect the Rancho, keep the existing horse culture alive and shape the future of our community.

This photo exists because of the Historic Mariposa Equestrian Bridge — a vital gateway connecting equestrians and hikers to the wild beauty of Griffith Park across the LA River.

Riders come from everywhere: the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, backyard barns, the Ranchos of Glendale and Burbank. Some even trailer in just to explore these iconic trails. This bridge isn’t just wood and steel — it’s a living link to LA’s equestrian heritage, and it fulfills the original vision of Mr. Griffith himself: for the people of Los Angeles to experience nature, freedom, and the open air.

But now, all of that is under threat. A massive condo development is planned just 53 feet from the bridge — putting the character, safety, and future of this historic corridor at serious risk.

🛑 We need your help.
Support the fight to protect this irreplaceable part of LA’s soul by donating to Friends of the Equestrian Bridge, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. They’re taking a stand — in court and in the community — to preserve the integrity of the Riverside Rancho and the magic of this bridge.

It was wonderful to meet you all and talk about how important stopping this condo development is. Thank you for your donations and listening to us speak on the panel. It was an amazing weekend seeing so many neighbors and new faces celebrating our beloved equestrian culture.

So proud of this incredible equestrian community!

The volunteers and the team at truly stepped up when the devastating fires hit LA. LAEC opened their stall doors to hundreds of animals, providing a safe haven when it was needed most. Without hesitation, people showed up to get stalls ready, dropped off supplies, took care of the evacuated animals and drove into danger to evacuate animals. To this day some of these animals are still being cared for by volunteers at LAEC.

Equestrians and this special community are truly one of a kind— It’s a community that always has each other’s backs and is the first to step up in times of need. Their dedication, resourcefulness, and compassion are unmatched. It was incredibly meaningful to see these efforts recognized tonight by LA City Council Member ,

I am honored and excited to participate in the panel discussion “Keeping the West Alive: Ranching in Los Angeles Today” at .usa Hollywood Rodeo this weekend. I will speak from my personal experience founding a grassroots effort to raise awareness about condo development projects threatening our small Historic Riverside Rancho community. I look forward to sharing insights and learning from the incredible perspectives of my fellow panelists. A heartfelt thank you to Stefan .siegel , founder of .usa for creating a space that not only celebrates Western and equestrian culture but also fosters conversations about preserving our heritage and looking toward the future.

👏👏Extremely excited to share this letter from the MCRA and RiverLA, who proudly announce the purchase of 914 S. Mariposa!

Please note this is not the land where the condos are proposed. It is the land directly adjacent to the condo project, between that property and the Historic Equestrian Bridge and the LA River.

This is incredible news for the Equestrian community, the rancho community and the people of LA because it prevents development and ensures stewardship of this special, unique, and historic land along the LA River.

It is also of great importance that Studio Horse Rentals will be able to stay, and continue to serve the greater community by facilitating horse rides for beginner riders, youth and visitors into Griffith Park.

A big congratulations to the wonderful people involved in making this monumental purchase happen.

From Cancel the Condos, our intention has always been to preserve, protect and improve this special community. We are so greatly inspired by the focus and determination of the people named in this letter. We appreciate their dedication to protecting open space, recreation, animal habitats and the equestrian history in LA. Bravo! We are thrilled to know this lil corridor is a going to be protected and guided for generations to come.
