Meet Dottie, our lovable and cuddly superstar! Known for her charming demeanor and affectionate nature, Dottie shines on our dog hikes. She has a special fondness for stopping to savor the sights and scents along the trail, earning her the endearing nickname of "Flower Child."

Dottie is a pro on the leash and remains calm around other dogs, making her an excellent hiking companion. While she can be a bit shy at first, her heart is full of love waiting to be shared. Once she feels at ease, Dottie will shower you with endless affection. A volunteer took her out for a day hike and after her hike they were both tired so they went back to her apartment. Dottie LOVED snoozing on the couch. We think she's a big couch potato at heart. :-)

Dottie does experience some separation anxiety, so she’ll thrive in a home where she’s not left alone frequently. As a young pup, she’s eager to learn and responds well to consistent training. Frida has settled in with her foster family for a month now. She has been a bundle of energy and loves to play. Everything is a toy for her. She would require a lot of attention or toys if she's alone. She loves to follow you room to room and her favorite thing is being walked around so she can look around at everything.

She's not a cuddler, yet. But will, from time to time, come and cuddle next to you. She has a very sweet demeanor about her and plays gentle most of the time. She's even learning to do “soft high fives” to learn trust. She is truly a very special girl, full of playful energy.

Say hello to little lady Lightning. This big puppy will only get bigger- she’s about 3.5 months and 30ish lbs already. Full grown she will be a big girl. She went on her first hike over the weekend and did TERRIFIC! She’s not used to being on leash but adapted well- we worked on heel a tiny bit but I mostly just let her get used to the stimulus of it all. She swung from excited to nervous and back again but mostly had a ton of fun on her adventure. She loves to make eye contact and if you give her even the slightest encouragement she sits and stares at you hoping for affection. Endearing as all heck. For a puppy her age, she’s very quiet and calms easily. She’s good at connecting with people and was interested in setting a play date with the other dogs on the hike (play time is life!) Lightning is kenneled with her bigger bossier sister- so she's a prime candidate for a home with other dogs.

Hi! I’m Magnolia and I’m an intelligent, playful, and loving little kitty. When I came to the shelter I was so scared! I had a broken pelvis. The nice people fixed me up and helped me realize people are nice and give me yummy treats and food!

I love playing with other kittens and when I’m ready for a snuggle, I let you know with a little meow. I’m looking to go to a loving forever home with another cat I can play with if possible.

A volunteer spent time with Bellina and had this to say: This young shephard (mix?) is so incredibly sweet and sparkly I think we should have named her “Bellini” instead. Shes super friendly, and once you are her friend she checks in regularly and would like physical contact (pets, scritches) often. It helps her feel calm and grounded. She likes to play but was getting a bit overstimulated and less motivated to chase toys - but I can tell that impulse is in her. She’s very curious- in that Shepard way- and wants to know everything going on. She’s nice on the leash and will love to go on adventures with her humans. Her ears are epic! Just huge and so charming and uniquely hers. If you’re looking for a bigger medium size dog who wants to connect with you, adventure with you and be your best friend forever- Bellina should be on your top 3 list of dogs to meet and fall in love with.

Mickey and Simba are a super sweet and outgoing pair of bonded cats. Mickey is a sweet girl who loves pets and will reach her paws out of her kennel for attention. She's a real doll. Simba is just as outgoing as his best friend Mickey. He *loves* people. He vocalizes for attention and comes right up to his condo door for pets and cuddles.

Meet Sandi! This 14-week-old bundle of joy is ready to find her forever home. Full of energy and always up for an adventure, Sandi loves exploring the great outdoors, chewing on her favorite toys, and making friends with her foster family’s pups. When she’s all tuckered out this little love bug is happiest snuggling in her soft crate-or better yet, in your arms! Sandi is working on her potty training, but with her bright personality and eagerness to learn, she’s making progress each day. Are you someone that often befriends an introvert? You see that person that seems really quiet or not very social at first, but then you start talking to them and you realize… they’re not all that introverted after all! They’re just particular about who they open up to!

That’s Wednesday! Initially she may seem a bit standoffish, but that’s because she wants to make sure you’re the real deal! And once she knows you’re cool, she will be your friend forever.

Wednesday loves routine and a chill environment. And she really thrives in knowing she has a space to call her own. Once she gets comfortable in her room, she’ll start to explore a little more. She would do well with someone that understands that she takes a little time to warm up and is happy on her own or with other cat friends.

Meet Maggie - A Sweet Soul Ready for her Forever home!

Maggie may be a 12 years young and blind, but that doesn’t stop her from soaking up the love and comfort of life. This gentle terrier mix found herself in the shelter when her previous owner could no longer care for her, but she’s now thriving in a foster home where she’s shown just how special she is. Maggie is a sweet easy going girl who loves nothing more than to cuddle, get back scratches, and be brushed - her ultimate form of relaxation.

Though she is blind, Maggie quickly learned the layout of her foster home and has a great sense of her surroundings, especially with the help of gentle voice commands. She loves her daily walks in quiet neighborhoods, navigating confidently with praise and guidance. Maggie is fully potty trained and hasn’t had a single accident in her foster home.

Maggie is wonderful with people and is calm around other dogs who respect her space. She is independent enough to be left alone at home and will happily wag her tail to welcome you back. A quiet, routine-oriented home without young kids would be ideal for Maggie- perhaps someone retired or works from home and can provide the gentle companionship she so deserves.

Meet Shuri – The Little Black Panther Princess

Shuri, named after the beloved Wakandan princess, is a gorgeous black kitten with striking amber eyes that may darken to an even richer shade as she grows. Her velvety fur feels like silk to the touch with a coat of rich midnight and a subtle chromatic sheen that glistens in the sunlight.

Found as a 10-day-old bottle baby, Shuri’s story began with a funny twist: we initially thought she was a boy and dubbed her "T'Challa." With her tiny claws gripping her bottle, her regal Black Panther vibes were undeniable. But at five weeks, surprise! T'Challa turned out to be our precious Shuri.

This playful girl was raised as a “party of one,” so she's an expert at entertaining herself. But Shuri’s also eager for companionship and would love to have a playmate – whether that’s a friendly human (like you!) or another furry friend.

Shuri is quite the little chatterbox too, and she isn’t afraid to speak her mind in the most amusing ways. She’ll happily let you know when it’s time for dinner, play, or snuggles, and she has a special way of keeping her humans on their toes.

Like most kittens, Shuri has her silly, zoomy moments, but once she’s done, she becomes the ultimate snuggle bug. She’ll rest her petite head in the crook of your neck and purr away, giving you all the warmth and relaxation of a miniature massage chair.

Say hello to athletic Ali (like Muhammad Ali). This sporty pup has ALL the energy. Ali is not a good match for a first time dog owner, home with small children or unsteady humans, folks with weak arms or shoulders, or anyone looking for a couch potato dog. That's not Ali. Ali is a go-go-go type of dog. He wants to live every moment of life to the fullest! Adventure! Exercise! Play! Laughter! Toys! More play! More adventure! He’d love a life where he had a safe yard with very high fencing, humans who like to run or hike and have a good foundation of dog experience, and of course- lots of toys to play with and destroy with impressive skill. Ali needs training- at only 9months old he’s in a bit of a teenage phase. He’s strong and motivated on leash and relatively moderate in his reaction to other dogs as he walks past kennels. Ali has a zest for play and adventure which is charming and inspiring. Don’t we all need that one friend that gets us out the door doing new things? Well, that’s Ali!

Mystery is the nicest little tortie cat! Despite her small stature she gave birth to SIX healthy kittens earlier this year! Now that the babies have all been adopted it’s time for Mystery to find her own forever home! She is sweet and affectionate and loves to cuddle, and also loves playing with her toys and watching the birds out the window.

She does great with other cats and dogs, although she does like to tease them! Mystery will be a loving addition to your family!

Marcus is an energetic little spitfire, which is not surprising for a dog going through his "teenager" phase. Once we got to the yard, it didn't take him long to settle down and focus. He's full of fun and energy and will do well in a home where he has a good balance of exercise, enrichment and relaxation. His adoption comes with a GoodPup scholarship for one month of training which will help him ease into his new home and learn good manners. He’s a high-energy little potato, who loves to jump and play and is always ready for an adventure. We think he would do best with older children. But don't let his energetic nature fool you; Marcus is a sweetheart through and through. He appears highly treat-motivated, sitting quickly when a treat is presented. This bodes well for obedience and trick training. With the love and support of his new family, Marcus is bound to blossom into the confident and outgoing pup he's meant o be.

At long last, Lana and Lincoln are finally available for adoption! These two siblings are almost a year old, so they are still pups. They are bonded and must go and stay together.

Lana and Lincoln were confiscated from a neglect situation. To say the least, they’ve grown up in not so ideal circumstances. Staff and volunteers have been working with them and taking them out into the play yard as much as possible, but they are a work in progress. They are improving, and their transition will be glorious, but challenging. They are looking for a patient owner who has the time and ability to start from scratch with training (potty, behavior, leash, etc.) We can assure you that after all of this is corrected in a new home, it will be 100% worth it! These two goofy pups are so loving and crave human attention.

Although they are strong and not yet behavior trained, we think they would be good with respectful kids and even other dogs (a meet and greet a must). Lana and Lincoln are Catahoula mixes, which is a loyal, protective, southern breed, that are good family dogs, but not suitable for small spaces, like apartments, condos or homes with no yard. This breed needs some space to thrive and given their former circumstances, deserve that space to finally be the pups they were meant to be.

Katniss is particularly sweet and affectionate. When her siblings run around like maniacs, she shrugs and adorably bats around a tiny yellow toy mouse. Everything about her is adorable - her little voice, her head tilt, and especially her purr. She's a very special kitten and she'll become a very special cat.

Valentine is NOT a dog to miss. One look in her small and expressive brown eyes, and you will see the purest thing in the world: LOVE. She’s aptly named.

One of our volunteers took Valentine home for the day and had this to share:

I recently took her on a field trip for the day, and she surprised me with how gentle and loving she can be. Folks, she’s a Belgian Malinois! A high-energy work breed. And yes, we did hike and walk and play in the park, but she was just as excited to cuddle and nap with me on the couch. And we are talking expert level of cuddling. A gently placed head on the chest, staring lovingly into your eyes. A paw wrapped around your arm. She will melt you. Simply because you can feel how genuinely she wants to be with you.

Some other bonuses: she’s great on a leash and is an excellent car passenger. While she was a little nervous at first to jump in the car, she got the hang of it quickly and would spend the rides lying down - even putting her head down to sleep. She also appears to fully understand the potty rules. She had zero accidents inside and once outside, knew to go right to the grass and take care of business. In a graceful manner that would make her top of the class at the Juilliard School of Dance. Very demure.
She was also very patient when I made her breakfast and would “sit” for treats. During my walks and hikes with her, she did not appear to be reactive to people or other dogs. She curiously watched a bunny cross our path, but didn’t chase. She’s also an avid tracker and enjoys time to sniff what she finds interesting.

Because of her breed, size and potentially high prey drive, it would be important for all family members, furry or otherwise, to meet her. Valentine is extremely loving, but she also has some understandable anxiety, so it’s best to give her some space and time to get comfortable. I think we can all relate to feeling a little anxious about change, but she will reward your patience with endless affection and devotion. Her perfect person or family will reward her with the same. And don’t forget plenty of activity! Her time off from couch cuddling is equally as important. Spending some time burning off energy will keep you both happy!

Say hello to best friends Owen (white) and Missy (fluffy). These 2 are seniors at about 10 yrs old, but their comedy stylings haven’t slowed down at all. In fact, their act may be more refined. Owen is the straight man- quiet, purposeful, measured, focused and generous with his affection. Missy is the high energy- goofy, silly, intentional, focus pulling, and agile. The 2 of them together are just a joy to be around. They offer everything you could want and are both tiny! You'll have a blast sitting with them and getting to know them and giving chin scritches and tell them both how wonderful they are. They would love to be in a quieter home with plenty of comfy spots to nap in. They’ll love to go on walks with you and help make sure the postal worker knows to keep it moving after your mail is dropped off. They will keep each other company while you’re at work and welcome you home with tons of joy (and Owen will 100% rat out Missy if she gets into mischief). Senior pups do require patience and willingness to keep on top of their health and the needs we all have as we get older- but they will return that effort by loving you every moment of the day. Thats an extremely good trade. If you are ready for best friends to become your best friend- come to the Burbank Animal Shelter and meet this pair for yourself. You won’t regret it.

Meet Knuckles, a lovable 3-year-old Pitbull with a heart of gold! This sweet boy is housebroken, crate trained, and knows how to sit, shake, and stay. Despite his tough appearance, Knuckles is incredibly smart and eager to please. He hasn’t shown any aggression towards other dogs on walks, making him a great companion for people looking for a walking/jogging buddy.

Knuckles has been in a foster home for a few weeks now and his fosters report he's become more goofy as he's gotten used to them and their routine. "He's become a lot more playful, but still knows when to relax. He will try to sit in your lap every time you sit down whether that's on the couch or floor and is even more loving then when we first got him. "

"He's gotten better at walking on the leash (still pulls when seeing squirrels or birds though lol). He started turning around to face away / back up into you when putting on the leash and waits for you to put them on which is so cute and something he starting doing recently. "

Knuckles loves to cuddle and thinks he’s still a puppy, often trying to sit in your lap whenever he sees an opportunity. He’ll follow you around all day, always wanting to be close to you. Tug of war is his favorite game, and he never barks, maintaining a calm demeanor.

He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and sees all people as his friends. All Knuckles needs is a loving home where he can give and receive affection. If you’re looking for the most lovable dog ever, Knuckles is your guy!

Meet Peeta, a brown tabby kitten who poops right in the litterbox every time! He plays hard and sleeps hard. Hobbies include chasing toys, chasing his sisters, snuggling on laps, and watching the litterbox get cleaned.

Peeta is playful, cuddly, and curious. He would be the perfect addition to a home with other cats, or with kids. He has not met any dogs yet, but has cat-called some from the window.

A volunteer spent time with Candy and had this to say: "Say hello to CANDY! This scruffy sweetie is just the bestest. We don’t know her exact age or lineage- as she was left at the shelter- but she’s definitely some sort of magical terrier elf combination and still quite young. Our first few moments together were spent cuddling and reassuring- she was happy to be in my lap and get pets and be reminded that she was safe. The loudness of the kennels can be stressful so a break was welcome for her. Then, phase 2 was exploration- she sniffed every inch of the play area, me, the gates, me again and every object available. Then- phase 3- toys! The best part! After taking in all the information she needed, she was ready to play and have some fun. Chasing toys and playing “you can’t have it, it’s mine” were her favorites. I had a blast too, honestly. She has the most charming underbite and such serious eyes-you really feel like she’d happily take on her part of the weight of the world beside her favorite human. She’s good on the leash, if a bit easily startled and uncertain at loud noises. She’s a sporty size at a bigger small- great for apartment or home living. She does bark but not much, she jumps when excited, but waited for me to lift her up instead of just jumping on me. She’s really perfection in so many ways- I’ve said it before, but I mean it again, if my house weren’t already full, we’d be having a conversation about this one. Head in to the Burbank Animal Shelter and meet her for yourself. It’s Halloween week after all- we all deserve some candy!

Chilly came in with his sister Spicy and he warmed up to us pretty quickly. He has been fun-loving and chatty with us, and is happy to come over for snuggles. Chilly is playful, eats well and sleeps on my lap. He also does a great job keeping his litterbox neat. Chilly is a playful guy who enjoys exploring around the house and playing with his sister. Spicy came in with her brother Chilly and she was definitely the scaredy cat of the pair. It took her a few days to learn to trust and become the loving, sweet kitty she is today.
