💧 have collars and tags on your Furry Friends before, during, and after the storm
💧have vet records ready to grab
💧have shelter/ accommodations that allow for Furry Friends

Indoor Activities💦
💧lick pads (I like to use peanut butter and pumpkin)
💧bones
💧puzzles
💧treat/ food scatter (take their kibble and spread it around the house and have them sniff it out)
💧cuddles (put on a good movie and relax)

Potty breaks💦
💧watch the radar and wait for a break in the rain/wind
💧keep the leash and an umbrella close by, sometimes they like to have company (lucky us!)

Nervous Nellie💦
💧set up a comfy “hiding spot”
💧calming treats/ medicine
💧white noise machine or calming music (they have a great doggy music pandora station)
💧more cuddles!

🐶 Furry Friend Friday! 🐶

Each Friday we spotlight one of our very special Furry Friends! This Friday we are giving it up for the one and only FREYJA! 👏👏👏

Freyja is a goofy girl who LOVES her ball. So much so that her humans have to spell it so that she doesn’t freak out. She also loves to tromp through ankle deep water and make a mess of herself. She is a character for sure!

Freyja was rescued from an animal shelter in Worcester Massachusetts where she won the hearts of her mom and dad with her curly tail and big ears!

🐶 I am originally from Florida, moved to Massachusetts about 10 years ago where I met my husband and started Furry Up & Walk, we now live in Burgaw NC!
🐶 I have two dogs (Odin & Freyja), a cat (Harlow), and fish!

How to Beat The Heat! ☀️

This summer is a doozy! With the hot days continuing to linger let’s keep those Furry Friends safe and happy. Here are some helpful tips for the hot days.

🐾 stick to early morning/ evening walks
🐾 hang out in shaded areas
🐾 replenish water regularly
🐾 make some frozen treats for them to enjoy
🐾 have brain stimulating activities for them to do

Fingers crossed for a break in the heat soon! 🥵

Furry Up & Walk loves all of our Furry Friends but each Friday we will special feature one of our outstanding Furry Friends.

Today we are spotlighting the one and only ODIN!

Odin is the goodest boy! He is a calm sole who loves to role around in the grass, loves allllll the pets, loves his little sister, and loves his human friends!

Odin is a rescue from Texas where he was found as a stray. You would never know it with his sweet personality and love for all humans.

We are so excited but also sad to say that Furry Up & Walk (Massachusetts chapter) will be coming to an end next week. We will be relocating to Wilmington North Carolina! We are so sad to be leaving the Furry Family we have built here but are very excited to start in a new area!

I am very excited and thankful that Rising Sun Dog Walking will be taking over right where we are leaving off! For all of your walking needs please reach out to them! They are an absolutely amazing team of professionals that will take great care of you and your Furry Family!

Winter is such a harsh time for your Furry Friend’s paw pads! ❄️

Let’s talk about a few care tips! 😊🐾
🐾 checking outside temperature to know the length of walk
🐾 trying to avoid salted surfaces as much as possible
🐾 wiping paws when returning home from a walk
🐾 using paw butters or my personal favorite coconut oil on paw pads and skin in between toes

Knowing your Furry Friend is key! Watch them carefully during these harsh conditions and keep them happy and healthy!

It’s (almost) back to school time! 😳📚🐶

There are many things to think about as back to school approaches, and the Furry Friend is one of them! It can sometimes be a stressful transition for your pups to have the household switch routines. There are many things you can do to help them through that transition. 🐶❤️

📚change your dog’s routine two week before school starts so they have time to adjust
📓 tire your dog out before school/work
✏️ if you walk or drive your kids to school take your Furry Friend with you
🚌 get some brain puzzles and interactive toys to tire them out while everyone is gone

And last but obviously the most important…

HIRE FURRY UP AND WALK! 🐶

Getting your Furry Friend a break and walk during the day can be so beneficial for emotional health, exercise, and keeping routine consistent.

Let’s make summer treats for the Furry Friends! 🐶🌤️

Ingredients: 8-10 strawberries, 1 banana, 1 cup plain low fat Greek yogurt, 1 tsp honey, splash of water

Easy and quick to make! You can use any fruit your Furry Friend likes. Simply combine and blend. I don’t have cute little dog molds but ice cube trays do the trick.

Of course my helpers get to lick the spoon and get the strawberry tops 🍓

Let’s stay safe! Here are some tips for keeping your nervous dogs safe and calm for the fireworks.

-make sure to get their energy out during the day 🐕‍🦺

-make sure they have a safe space inside

-make sure they are wearing their identification tags

-comfort them and stay in with them if needed. 🏡

Something fun for your pups that need some mental stimulation! ‼️🐶 This is Odin’s dinner fun since he spent most of the day inside because of the rain (he hates the rain) 😓☔️

Fix it in the towel and they will figure out the rest!
